Would you take a 0-16 2016 season if it meant once and for all getting rid of Tomlin?

Just curious if people would sacrifice an entire season and just stink it up if it meant no more Tomlin? I think it would take that for Art to admit he was wrong. Even better would be if the team was sold away from the Rooney's.

I would rather he retire then un-retire and coach for someone else. Is this an option?
 
Not an 0-16 season. But today, Dec. 27th, 2015 is officially the last straw for me supporting him as our coach. He had me going there for a few weeks thinking we finally turned the corner. But nope. Everything I hated about him in previous seasons came roaring back in a vicious and unforgiving way all in one gigantic ejaculation of nightmares that was today's game
 
As sad as it sounds replacing Tomlin with a higher quality HC isn't as easy as it sounds. There really seems to be a lack of talented HCs around at the moment. As mentioned in an earlier post you would be hard pressed to find 5 HCs that are significantly better on a consistent basis. Once you get past Billichick, Harbaugh, and Carroll (who screwed up the last SB) all have their shortcomings. When you look at it Rex Ryan and Chip Kelly were much sought after and as it turns out for no good reason.

So the answer is a resounding no. Even if there were suitable replacements, I would never want to go through 0 - 16.

When Tomlin screws up I will criticize him as it's my prerogative to do. The more recent the mistake the more venom the post will have. And the nutsackers that continually defend each and every decision no matter what - no reaspect.

At 0-16....he still wouldn't be on the hot seat. He'd still hypnotize with words.

Nice post......but at this point if Tomlin is not willing to correct his short comings how long do you continue to go with him. As a fan I was done a while ago. Our owners will keep him around for years to come.
 
I agree that it might be tough to find a better replacement

But I honestly can't take this. How is it that every single year, they show us what we could potentially be by standing tall and playing our best against the best teams, only to piss away our chances at fulfilling that greatness against the worst possible opponents?

It seems like Tomlin owns the worst losses in the league every single year. It starts and ends with him. He gets cocky and thinks "we got this". Even within games you see that same attitude if we jump out to an early lead. How many times has this team pissed away huge leads because we basically play as if "we got this"? We approach games against teams with bad records the exact same way. "We got this".
I'm tired of having a coach who only puts his 100% effort into games that he feels pose a significant threat. Newsflash ******* - everyone on the schedule is a pro team and they'll beat you if you get comfortable and relax. And big leads dwindle if you get comfortable and relax.

The entire team looked like they were taking a nap and thought they'd just wake up and turn it on when they felt like finally winning. That is on the coach. It just is. No one can tell me otherwise. I've been watching these guys play with that attitude in too many games across too many seasons for anyone to be able to convince me it doesn't start and end with Mike Tomlin. Enough already
 
Like I said, right now Tomlin is the lesser of the evils out there as HC. The easiest thing to do might be to hire an exHC who does not want to get into full time coaching again because of the commitment, to be a consultant. It's something that has happened in MLB in the past 20 years - Torre and Zimmer being the most succesful.

Unless they would be there to punch Tomlin in the gut whenever he got his gut feelings I don't know how it would work during the games.
 
There are tons of good assistant coaches out there.....Cowher came out of nowhere when he was picked and I don't remember Tomlin being #1 on any hot coach list when he was selected either. Don't just look at guys who have been a HC. Even though he's the Pats defensive coordinator, Matt Patricia does some nice things with little talent, I like him. Kris Richard in Seattle is another...young guy too.
 
He ain't going anywhere as long as he has number 7 as his quarterback.

I'd be real hesitant to take any of Billichick's assistants. It seems like he runs a one man rodeo over there. None of his assistants have ever turned out as HCs. I would say from Billichick's history anything to do with the Pat's defense has a lot to do with him.

Especially not to the [playoffs, missing it 3 times the last 4 years and a miserable 4 times in 9 years, he misses the playoffs 44% of the time with a franchise QB with a Super Bowl win before he was stupidly hired.

I want the Steelers to win any game. Tomlin is our guy like it or not. I think a lot of us are tired of the trends with this team considering the talent on this roster. But I push for the guy to do great even if he disappoints me
 
this is one of the worst losses in the Tomlin-era. All he had to do was have his team beat two of the worst teams in the AFC to secure a PO spot and they looked like the team trying to mail it in. Are you kidding me? Ben sucked, the play calling sucked, the D was not impressive in the least and the arrogance got them beat. Total cluster and embarrassment in BAL today. Tomlin should hang his head. It's his baby and he blew it.
 
Think about this...everyone, everyone thinks Ben is a top 5 QB in the league and we are looking at yet another year without playoffs. 3 of the last 4 with one of the top QBs in the entire league. Who's at fault for that disaster?

Ben makes or breaks this team. He is to blame for losses. But he is also responsible for this teams winning seasons. Its a double edged sword with him. But the coaches can implement a system to apply more to his strengths than his weakness. That is where Tomlin has failed. Under Cowher Ben was a manager and the talent around him helped him out. Ben just did what Maddox nor Stewart could do and that was using that supporting talent wisely. The QB's have more authority now so Tomlin gives Ben more control rather than keeping him "shackled" I guess
 
Allow Ben to make plays but keep him from being careless. When he starts forcing throws and trying to put the game all on him thats when we see the turnovers

Success isn't judged by making the playoffs, it's whether you had a winning season or not
 
When is everyone going to realize it's no longer the players, it's no longer even the coach, it's the ownership and ultimately the fans? As long as Heinz is sold out no matter how bad the product what incentive does the ownership have to make any changes? Saw the same thing in the 80's when we suffered through horrible QBs and even worst draft picks - and that was with Chuck Noll as coach. Week after week with Malone as QB and it really didn't get better until Noll quit and forced them to hire someone else. Still not sure why Noll left but the ownership had to do something.

Jarvis Jones, Ryan Shazier and to a much lesser extent, Bud Dupree. You can toss Dupree out at this point, but Jones and Shazier needed to quickly develop into two of the best defenders on the team and they haven't. If both players live up to their potential and the Steelers have at least an average defense to match their offense. You can put that on Colbert or the coaches for the lack of development. As far as the in-game decisions, there is no question who you can place the blame on. Sure you can blame the players, but when the same issues continue to arise, there is only one person to place the blame on.

The first interception was just bad, but the second was a throw he almost always connects with. I can expect a misfire like that if Wheaton was the target, but not Brown. He just wasn't feeling it today.
