Boz is the biggest question mark IMO, that they need to solve in training camp.
My thing with him is it won't be solved in training camp. It would only be solved in week whatever you need him to kick a game winner.

They better hold onto both kickers if Wright proves capable. Or replace Boz. One of the two.My thing with him is it won't be solved in training camp. It would only be solved in week whatever you need him to kick a game winner.
The team should not put them in the place where Boz is needed.

Shades with Good Boz: 13-3 with 4 games won in the last minute or with a FG on the last play.
Shades with Bad Boz: 9-6-1.
We didn't make the playoffs. Steelers were a top 5 offense. I don't see how you can conclude that the D was good enough.
Here is the thing Cope. Obviously, stats are king in most arguments. A middle pack defense SHOULD have been more than good enough with that offense to get the job done in winning the division. ......But when you watched and looked at it, it wasn't. They couldn't close out games against Cleveland with a 14 point 4th quarter lead. The Chargers, Saints, Raiders and Broncos were all similar. They closed out against the Pats, but I don't really remember a whole lot else. If they could have closed 2 of those, I would say that those stats would have been relevant. Because of that, i have them in the lower third.
Totally agree, but if in any of those games the defense made a very timely play. Over. And you have seen that happen many, probably countless times watching this team. Didn't happen.I remember some bad TOs in those games. JuJu fumbling as we were driving to win in the 4th against NO, lost by 3. Grimble fumbling at the goalline in Oakland turning a would be TD into a loss of possession, lose by 3. 3rd and goal, one minute to play in Denver. Ben throws a pick, lose by 7 (also miss a FG, have a fumble and another INT). Cleveland was 3ints a missed FG to win and a late Fumble. Clowney was possessed that game as well. Hats off to him.
San Diego game I'd hang on the D. Couldn't stop them when it mattered.
Even with that, if this team didn't turn the ball over, they were easily in the playoffs, and could have gone far.

Absolutely correct. And the job of the head coach is to figure out what horse he will hitch the wagon to. Yet Boz is still here. And I will say this if Boz sucks again this year Tomlin should be gone on that alone. There is not a chance Boz is back if I'm coaching this team. All I need from a kicker is good enough. He was horrible. And the body language was worse.
The Stats are what they are. D stats look pretty good, but #28 in the league in TO margin is dreadful. It's how the San Diego Chargers missed the playoffs with the #1O & #1D (and horrid ST). We ain't the first.
dumbest post this year, morphed into a 5 pager and evolved into something completely different
How many games did we lose because of Boswell's misses (I know the answer just brining this to light)??? The answer is MORE THAN two (2) games. It takes a team effort to win games - it takes MISTAKES to easily lose games (and it's kinda hard to beat the refs, who are blind to false starts and such)...
Riddle me this, why did Tomlin keep Boswell?
Salary cap hit. That's the only reason.
It's not what a new kicker costs, it's Boz's cap hit because they just signed him for big money after the 2017 season. You'd have to pay a new kicker AND still pay Boz a good chunk of his contract.Kickers can be easily replaced. And just about every one in the NFL was better than Boz last year. Does a 800k free agent kicker bust a cap of 188.2 million ( 2019 cap number? ) Not in my book.
It's about 8 years too late for that. We've got Ben for maybe 2 more good years. Pissing away what's left of his prime with bad kicking and lousy coaching should not be tolerated.
