Worse than anger....apathy

They're winless like us right? I'm sure they're fans are jumping bridges too at 0-2

They traded away Mack.

I am sure fan's aren't expecting much out of the gates.

Ohh I can take my pick. Giants, Lions, Raiders, Cardinals, Bears, Titans... all these teams with a new head coach this year and none of them winning games.

Again Sherlock, how is comparing a first year coach with a team the same as a coach that has been in place for a decade. Not a hard concept to grasp.

So let me get this straight... So what you're trying to say is you rather have a new coach that'll takes YEARS to develop (which I clearly showed you no new coach is winning right now) than have a coach that's proven to be a winner that by the way just finished 13-3 and is only even being questioned now because we're 0-1-1 right now.. yeah sounds real smart but its expected from this board.

He is being questioned because of the state of the team. Same horrible defense that we have seen for 4 years. AB has been given carte blanche to act as he pleases and a coach that says he has earned the right to do whatever he wants to do. We have a DC that we were told halfway thru the year last year that Tomlin took over calling the defense, but we bring him back for another year. Special teams continues to be a joke, hardly ever do we have a ST play without a penalty, lining up wrong, missed tackles. Nothing ever changes with Tomlin and nothing ever will. He has no control of this team and the proof is in the pudding. When the Pittsburgh media says he should be on the hot seat and he is responsible for this train wreck you KNOW it is gaining ground, the Pitt media NEVER calls out players or coaches. Everyone sees it for the train wreck that it is. It has been building for YEARS, being 0-1-1 is a symptom caused by the leadership and development of Tomlin.

Great post, spot on

Did any of these new coaches take over a loaded roster with a HOF QB ?

Watching the Steelers make the same mistakes and fail the same way over and over is Tomlin's way. To expect different results from this moron is pissing in the wind. he is what he is ,a below the line coach with a great organization and HOF QB propping his sorry *** up year after year.

We seem to have gotten too into this new philosophy of fantasy and every player is a specialist at their position, and forgotten basic football. My 11 vs. your 11, beat me. We think too gottdam much. For instance, 2 down lineman. Wtf came up with this? Football USED to be won in the trenches. Now we sweat every TE or Slot as if that's the only way to beat Pats. Or draft guys we THINK can cover Gronk or Edelman while overlooking another glaring weakness. Yeah, they present matchups, but if they're keeping you up nights you're forgetting what really works at all levels of football.

2010 last time we had a # 1 defense. We had a Big Snack eating everything on the training table, not running sprints, and blowing up offensive schemes on Sunday. What the fk has become of Steeler football? Punch you in the mouth, extend a hand to lift you up, and return next play and punch you in the mouth again. Yeah I'm older, not as live, breathe, eat and **** Steelers as I once was, but defense wins championships man. And I really want to get back to Steeler football.

Not trying to be a smart *** here but has there been a true NT drafted over the last few years by anyone that we passed on? One that is now successful?

Gruden has as many SB rings as Shades, but he's taking over a much lesser franchise. Time will tell.

I heard the Raiders got a new coach, didnt seem to change them one bit.. but carry on...[/QUOTE

What was Chuck Noll's record year one?

How long had Tomlin been here?

The arrow is currently pointing down.

Someone needs to man up and accept responsibility for what is being presented as an NFL defense.

Gruden isn't really a new coach.

And what has changed or not changed with the Raiders is way too early to know.............

Gruden is what we'd have if Cowher decided to come back.

1 loss in 2 weeks and this fan base is already on the ledge? Pump the breaks people. The world hasn't ended yet.

I've reached apathy. This past week was the first time in...well EVER that I missed watching a regular season game and didn't care enough to look at my phone to check the results. But I''m still a reluctant fan...it's in my blood. I watched the highlights and must say that the first two games definitely have Tomlin's stamp on them....slow start, dig themselves in a whole, make it interesting, blow it in the end. Anyone that doesn't recognize that it all starts with the coaches probably works a minimum wage job, because they obviously don't know what it takes to succeed in life. If coaches are not accountable...why have coaches at all?

It probably would be nice to finish 4-12 for once and actually be picking within the top 10 for once.. because you know where havnt picked any higher than 15 since Tomlins been here because we keep winning. Maybe that would shut people up and we can get some actual talent and not be forced to work with late rounders like we"ve been doing.. just a thought.

You know what else might help?

Not drafting a projected third round pick in the first round, and then compounding the problem by starting him.

History may just be repeating itself here.

The 80's were a tough time to be a Steeler fan. Especially after Terry retired, which is why I am relishing every one of these last moments from Ben, because more than likely, we'll go through some hard times when he retires.

Ben has covered up and concealed a lot of this teams issues for a long time now. I think it may just be too many problems for even Ben to sweep under the rug. Our defense is putrid, has been awful for quite a while, and we still see the same thing week in and week out.

Do the Steelers self scout ? we know they are horrible at game planning so just do they do all week long ? No one has ever accused tomlin of being a workaholic, in fact I have never heard a single story about him staying and working late at night. The stupidity of doing the same thing year in and year out and having the exact same issues year in and year out defies logic and makes you wonder what the Rooney's see in this idiot and why they allow it to continue unabated.

Even more reason to appreciate what he is giving us now in my opinion. As far as turnovers go with him, he's a gunslinger and has never been compared differently, so in that vein, we gotta take the good with the bad when it comes to him. Just my .02 cents.

I think it more the coach than the players. Too much miscommunication issues isn't a player here and there problem.

Butler needs to go, I actually think this team needs a fresh approach from the top down....

This issue is much worse than just changing another co-ordinator. The problem has to be tackled at the root, and the root is Coach Dumblin.

The Rooneys may try to fire Butler to appease the fans, but things will carry on the same way until Ben retires and Dumblin has no-where to hide anymore...

And I'm about there.

And I sense a whole legion of Steeler fans are almost there too, judging from my conversations with fellow Steeler fans (texts, emails, calls).

If the Rooneys don't care enough to truly consider the mess Tomlin and Butler have made to take any action, then why should I care one bit?

Yea, I know some preach patience, but for just how long? How much longer do we need to see this complete JOKE of a defense and say we just need more time to fix it?

And when apathy hits our players...watch out.

A large broom is needed. Fire Tomlin, hire Munchak as the interim coach, then things will start to get better. When the season ends, we will have our pick of ANY coaching prospect.

This reminds me of what we were saying on message boards during the '98 and '99 season. We all wanted Cowher run out town but the Rooneys showed patience/restraint. I think it's going to have to get a lot worse before Rooneys do anything about it.

I feel like they can/will turn this around and we'll be sitting there in December moaning about how they blew a couple early games that resulted in them not getting home field or having to play in the wild card game.

Or worse.. this will be 2013 all over again... they'll lose a couple more then come on like gang busters down the stretch and give everyone a false sense that they are just a player here or there away from being good again.

I do think they never should have given Shades that last extension, at least not until he got back to the SB or deep into the playoffs.

I have am not at the point of being apathetic yet, but I can see it coming for me personally.
Pictures of what looks like a fat L Bell on a jet ski dont help my attitude
They wont make changes mid season so its probably staus quo this year.
Its sad but I kinda of hope the season ends 5-11 and the Rooneys blow up the staff

It would be nice but history tells us that the Rooney family is very patient with their coaches and players. I don't see any major changes to the organization any time soon, especially mid-season.....or even after one bad season. Cool Sades will be back next year even if he don't win another game.

Shades would have to be on par with the Browns and winless for two seasons before they would consider axing him. If he hovers around .500 it would take 4 or 5 years.
