By CJ Lester SteelerNation.com The*Pittsburgh Steelers*have finally made their first selection of the 2020 NFL Draft! The Steelers selected WR*Chase Claypool out of Notre Dame. Claypool can be an immediate contributor and another big target for QB Ben Roethlisberger.* What do you think of the Steelers second round selection? Sound off in the comments section […]

3 for 4 in the last 4 years. Wanted Vander Esche. You ******* better start listening.

Yeah well Esch got taken way before our selection so what's the point of crying about it. I won't question the steelers and their ability to find WR talent. They have their Plaxico/Bryant guy now to stretch the field. Personally I wanted them to take Akers. I think the kid is going to be a stud. Think Kamara

I like the player, but drafting a WR in the second round four straight years is a bit ridiculous.

I would have liked to see what Juju, Johnson and Washington all healthy playing a full season with Ben can do before using another high pick on the position.

Well I wanted Taylor. What did the Browns accept from the Colts? Claypool brings size and speed to a WR unit that lacks both, but for as fast as he timed I don't see the type of separation you think a player who runs a 4.42 should have. Plays like a big TE. Can block a ton for a WR. Not a bad pick for round two. What does this pack say about Ju-Ju, Washington and Johnson? As long as the Steeler find a quality back in round three, I'lll be happy. The FSU kid will do.

Red zone threat. And take the top off the defense. Don't have to be awesome at first, just run fast and draw coverage. This past season was due to no Ben, and no AB threat. So they stacked the box on us. We don't NEED a RB. Conner will be fine. ND if he is hurt, we have anice stable behind him.

are the Steelers trading Washington or WTF? Are we playing 4 wide 75% of the time?

I guess this is a Ben pick, like keep your franchise QB in his final chance happy, but damn

Akers could have been starter day one and be huge in the screens........Baltimore took JK......**** what a good pick for them in the 50's. Baltimore has so much draft capital this year in a deep draft. Watch them score on their other 2nd pick (and they have 2 thirds)

I am hoping for the best with the kid now. Not going to complain about the pick I want him to succeed. Our O needed a lot of help WR was one need. I hope he makes all my concerns go away and is a stud !

Claypool has a hard time getting separation but is incredible in contested catches and is a size mismatch against every corner he will face.

maybe DJ can teach him to get off the line quickly

This is my guess. Claypool was high on the Steelers board and they coveted a big fast receiver more than we realized. JuJu is a FA next year and maybe they aren't sold on giving him a huge deal. Claypool has huge upside and could be the next Calvin Johnson. I am happy with the pick.

I don't know about trading him, but I am thinking he might be an underlying reason why the pick was made. That and Juju looking like a number 2.

If Chase can even be a 2B then it will be a solid pick.

If he can take the top off the coverage it will really open the O up. I think that is what the hope will be....................

this is the guy ben begged for for years better late than never... almost 4.3 at almost 240 damn this guy is a steeler put him at OLB u don't like him at wr lol go steeeeellllerrrrrr!!!

WELCOME Mr. Clay pool. May your happiness be tied to our happiness with field production.

Salute the nation

I guess Big Ben got his wish, taking claypool with that RB talent falling to us speaks volumes.
I like the size and speed, I don't hate the pick considering 2019 juju.
Although with that size and speed something doesn't add up, claypool was the 12th WR drafted and wasn't considered a top 10 wr prospect from the rankings I saw on multiple sites.
Did they fall in love with the special teams play and Pass up two RB that would have been a smarter choice?

He is physical blocking capable. Steelers like their WRs to block. The size speed combination is the interesting part of his game. Steelers knew they weren't getting him at the end of 3.
