With the 49th overall pick, the Pittsburgh Steelers select WR Chase Claypool

I loved how he could make a more physical Lber his *****. If there was a more physical blocking WR in the history of the NFL I can't think of one. Man even had a rule change resulting. That is when you know you are on your game.

When they have to make rules, to protect defensive players from a wide receiver, you might be one of the best wide receivers ever!

Hines was a different cat. His blocking set him apart from other WRs. I think it should be one of the reasons why he does eventually make it into the HOF. A very complete player.

Obviously this means the end of Switzer, obviously.

Is there time travel involved? How is Chase's phone showing today (April 30th @ 6:30PM) and you posted it today at 2:48AM?

Lol that is time on my phone. I live in New Zealand

We’re we looking at OLB Darrell Taylor at 49? Is that why Seattle moved up to 48??

I thought about this too, but because they moved in front of the Steelers doesn't mean the Steelers were the ones taking. It could have been a team behind the Steelers, but the Steelers weren't trading out. Some had links to Claypool with Seattle. I thought that was who they were taking. Claypool, Metcalf with Lockett in the slot. ouuuuch.

We need the block-style numbers back for good. So many teams tweaking uniforms...c'mon, Deuce..make it so.

I think there had to be some helmet contact with how woozy he was, but he did get a lot of shoulder as well!

Yeah, at first it looked like solid shoulder to shoulder, but you can see his head going forward.

I hope he’s used properly

Steelers OC Randy Fichtner "anticipates" second-round rookie WR Chase Claypool playing primarily out wide.

Claypool (6'4/238) hauled in 16 catches 20-plus yards downfield in his breakout senior season but was pigeonholed as a tight end at the next level due to his massive frame. Fichtner squashed that sentiment quickly, confirming Claypool would play wideout with some slot sprinkled in.

The 21-year-old logged just 106 snaps (a three-year low) from the middle of the field in his final season with the Fighting Irish but could still be shifted there in the red zone to leverage his size. In the meantime, his 4.42 40 and 40.5-inch vertical give him a leg up on James Washington as a downfield boundary threat.

This is also a terrific development for JuJu Smith-Schuster, who is just one season removed from averaging 1.93 yards per route run from the slot before disappointing in his injury-riddled third year with below-average play under center.

I really
Think that the
Steelers got

The player they
Hoped could play split
End next year, giving them

Formations that
Lessen the pressure
Up the middle so

Bennie can
Run inside and
Off tackle to close out games.

It was a bang bang play. **** him. Ward put those fool's heads on a swivel, and they had never seen or experienced it before. That is Ward's legacy (in addition to being a kick-*** WR).

fully agree art needs to know how much extra rev switching back to block numbers will generate I think not only because they look so awesome but from a nostalgic point tons of 70's and the mid 90's blitzsburgh was formed by lebeau with Lloyd Kirkland brown green those fans will want some of the current players jerseys more because they look so much better.
i.e compare our rush/alt jersey for watt to our current home and see how the 90 looks so much more intimidating rather a curvy 9 and 0 same for ben's 7 fitz 39 vs curvey numbers.
and as well the top seller juju 19 his 19 in block numbering looks awesome.
these would sell great on game day at the sideline store. Make it happen.!!!

He lasted so long in the draft because he had one big year of production. He had a decent Junior year and a big year last. British Columbia is not a hotbed of football even in Canada. So it takes two years for him to acclimate to a totally different game. So some people were scared off a bit. Those teams didn't have an all pro first rounder. Is there risk. Sure. But if he pans out which I believe there is high probability he will. Look out. Looking at his tape, he is going to have to adjust to two feet in on the boundary. I think on paper the entire receiving unit TE included is the best it's been.

qubec is the hotbed with mcgill and laval constantly dominating the cdn colle football, the bears did draft that huge run stiffer out of Regina sask,
We out east need ore funding into football, right now they are committing a ton of money in basketball that is now seen Texas use Ontario as a pipeline and its not uncommon now that every year Canadian are getting drafted.

Not totally sure what you mean here. Gallimore is from Ottawa. He was selected by the Raiders. Definitely, Laval has been a powerhouse. U of Calgary is a pretty damn good program. University of Saskatchewan will be in the hunt. Their recruitment was insane this year. A kid who plays wide receiver in Edmonton was recruited to Clemson this year. A kid I coached in youth is crushing it at IMG in Florida.

This guy is obviously a homer for Chase Claypool, but he definitely backs up his enthusiasm with good analysis of his game and the little things that he does well that may typically go unnoticed:

Pretty excited for this kid.

A lot of good your my ***** now plays. What I like about this kid as I keep digging is his ability to learn and improve. When you have someone with impressive physical attributes it is nice to know the ability to learn is there. He isn't just a one trick pony in the Wallace mold. Not to forget the ability to be a devastating blocker will help the team as well..................

it is a pick that can grow on you for many of reasons the more you watch.

Looks like he coulda had a lot more TDs with a better QB at ND. He'd have his guy beat, then have to slow down/wait for the ball. Couple of those plays, if he were hit in stride, woulda gone the distance. I think a healthy Ben is gonna have fun throwin him the ball. Wish Hines was around to coach him, especially with blocking.:smokin:

Exactly so while he learns some ins and outs, you know Ben can at least get him the ball and be more accurate in the process...............

I'm thinking the value of tall-N-fast is being underestimated a little. The underneath stuff is going to be way more open and JuJu / DJ / JW will be more man or single coverage than last year. Chase will be a little behind due to lesser Training Camp / OTAs / OC contact (because we follow the rules). With or without BEN.... This offense is better than it was last year.

Claypool brings what we haven't had since poison frog man left. Deep threat with speed opens up a LOT of opertunity and I think Chase can live up to and has the ability to succeed in his role.

I will admit I used to get tired of watching bubble screens going nowhere. BUT having Chase and Ju Ju blocking out front on a pass to DJ sounds enticing.

Remember this block from Tampa Bay's Mike Evans......... this is what I am looking forward to from the Cyborg Claypool........ bring back the memories of Hines Ward Supersized.....

https://youtu.be/PZBiGUtrlCY ......enjoy the ride

Hines Ward's crack-back on that bungles player (Rivers I think) was a REAL man's block. JuJu's Burfdefect block was even better than anything Evens has done.

Not taking anything away from your sorry *** "Evens" clip but when there are STEELERS examples available, one's gotta bring them up.

Carry on O'l chap
