With the 2nd easiest schedule and a 7th playoff spot added

It wasn't just the media. The board was full of the SOS talk during that year. Everyone lauded the SOS that year... even to this day. But when the SOS is easy no one wants to use it. Also haven't people bitched for years on here that NE had an easy schedule? Wait I thought SOS didn't matter... well I guess it does if you're not the Steelers.

Also there are agenda's all over the board. Why is coach different? You don't think every single post has some agenda? When you see posts about how great Dupree played last year is that not an agenda? When you see posts on the new draft picks with videos that show every single good/great play they ever made is that not an agenda? If Claypool had gone to the clowns do you think people would be saying how he was the steal of the draft? You can go back to any draft and this board had videos of how great they were going to be and that X player was the steal of the draft. It's all agenda.
You love you some debate. My opinion of it will never change. You bring up what other people think as if that should sway my opinion. I simply think it is a silly concept based on inaccuracies. Even if I am in the minority I would personally feel that way. Most people on here have a football agenda not a troll agenda. There is a difference I think you know that.

Oh as far as draft picks I can't fault fans for trying to buy into what the Steelers are doing even if it wasn't their picks. Not sure why that bothers you aren't they simply just hoping for the best? And no some football discussion is just that discussion and opinion without agenda.

In 08' the entire board (possibly even you) were talking about how difficult the schedule was going to be. I don't remember one person saying "SOS doesn't matter". It also doesn't matter that NE had an easy schedule... oh wait... did you give your opinion on that? I don't remember anyone saying SOS didn't matter when they talked about them.

This is typical for this board. If it makes the Steelers look good (SOS in 08') then SOS matters. If the SOS is soft (like this year) then SOS doesn't mean anything. NE has a soft schedule? SOS suddenly matters again. I'm not saying you individually said these but this board is full of people that did.

In 08 ? Really? This is 2020 perhaps some opinions changed since then who ******* knows. I don't. I don't remember way back then nor care too. My opinion now is it's silly , tomorrow it will be silly, next year my opinion will be it is silly. Pretty amazing you can remember something so clearly on this topic 12 years later. An amazing memory if it is accurate. Even if it is accurate I still think it is silly.

It wasn't a one year thing. The pats** cheating goes back before that. But somehow people still remember it. I remember Kordell debates. That's almost 10 years before the 08 season. I remember debating about drafting Troy Edwards. That's years before 08'. I also remember Dri Archer... that's been 6 years ago. How can any remember that? Oh I know... because it is still discussed just like the SOS is every year.

It could be discussed every day and I would still think it is a silly concept. You must not think it is a silly concept as you are sure going to bat for it strongly for some odd reason.

According to you, you might change your mind in 15 minutes so I'm not even sure why you are saying it's silly. You may think it's the most important stats in all of sports... just give it time.

No my mind is made up but your excessive ranting is starting to add to the sillyness. We will just agree to disagree how that be?

Yeah, teams do change a bit. Our #1 problem, Tom Brady has left New England. KC and their young players are prone to a super bowl hang over. We have two road games vs playoff teams, and play many bad teams .500 or below. And the NFL added a 7th playoff seed.

2020 should be a good year. But then again this board is full of stupid people. I could tell them the sky was blue and some would argue green. Not even Tomlin's lousy record vs .500 and below teams ( Which will be tested in 2020 ) can stop the Steelers from making the playoffs.

Wait ... Did you just agree that teams change from year to year ... and then go ahead to state your position based on teams' records from last year and an unproven hypothetical that the Chiefs will have a championship hangover?

As well as insult half the board? Coach has some fantastic people skills, wow.

I think this thread is heading down the same road as Earl Thomass and his woman NINA ..... if role playing which one are you ???? Safety ON a ***** .... or...... the ***** with the safety OFF.. .lol

I will pray for you

Stregnth of schedule and Power rankings really don't mean much at all. But we as humans use things to make our point pending on who we are talking to. I have an employee that is a sheeple type fan and when he hears the SOS and the POWER Rankings if his team is up there he goes ape-****. Sometimes he only understand those references. I don't take much stock in either but I do look at W / L the day we are playing that team. I don't use entire season (last) to justify SOS. I use current season and ONLY to that date of play. It's just a little more helpful and based on current PLAY.

I agree. If our key players stay healthy, not making the playoffs this year would be inexcusable. I know there are always surprises and breakout players, but I always like to look at the QBs we play. A lot of young guys with potential, but the Steelers really get to avoid a lot of the superstars this year.

The KC hangover is a pretty interesting dynamic Becauee of everything that’s going on with the coronavirus, and inability to travel, and have all these commitments. It sucks, but I don’t see it being an issue for them. That said, I think this defense is much better suited for them than two years ago.

I agree DIC. Power Rankings for pro football are bunk. There are 32 professional teams and #32 can beat #1 on any given Sunday. Unlike college where unranked teams have a minuscule chance of competing with a #1 team, in the pros, those competitions are much closer.

Cope, you reminded me of that movie "any given Sunday". ONE awesome movie but so true on the PROFESSIONAL level of NFL play. I hear casual fans always say their "favorite" college team could beat so n so NFL team. Maybe but very highly doubtful.

Yes, It comes down to quality of talent. In the NFL, each and every player is a college All-star or conference all star. In college you have much more of a talent gap between your power 5 conferences vs the rest of the country. They do the recruiting and get the majority of 5* talent. If the best college team played the worst NFL team, they'd get killed. College aren't 53 players deep in All-American talent, and NFL teams would blow them out of the water.

Now back when the NFL started and you had normal people playing, college teams could have beat NFL teams in the 1900s-40s. After that. No chance.

One more post to add to Dumb ***’s peacocking.

You state we have two road games vs playoff teams, “and play many bad teams .500 or below”. What? How do you know? No one has played a game yet?

There’s logic and there is you which is the antithesis of logic.

Oh, you would never tell the board the sky is blue, so there wouldn’t be any argument. However, you have told us a HOF’s head was too big to be a good player. We did argue with you on that and you lost that argument for sure.

Coach, you are really building up the "respect" points. Just so you feel good about yourself, EVERYBODY on this board is stupider than you.

Blue sky.............. ******* sky is falling and burnt black.

If you're basing the difficulty of the season on last year's performance, that is foolish. Teams change from year to year, and we won't know the actual strength of the schedule until the season is over.

I don't understand the criticism of Coach on this one.

What about pre-seasons past when we talked about having to play the toughest schedule...also based on the prior years performance? Just as weak teams change, so do tough teams.

I think the word is PARODY. The league is supposed to have it from year to year, and this year saw more QBs changing teams, than we've had in a LONG time.

Stewey, Coach would get a HELL of a lot more respect but he ususally has to shoot himself in the foot. That line about this board is full of stupid people just kills himself. There may and may not be stupid people here but the way he insinuates he's not one of them (regardless of wheather he is or not) has a way off putting himself above everyone else yet he poaches opinions and uses others analysis' of the game / players. He CAN NOT admit even the slightest failure.

I was in your shoes for a long long time and always give the benefit of the doubt and still do but occasionally I have to hammer him because of the obscurity of his being. He does have good, debate starting, material at times until he drops the self-inflicted kill shot.

Good luck to him (coach) in the event he can find a more communicable method and just try to be humble.

Ok I sorta get it...

..but let me see what Coach has to say about it first...LOL j/k

As you already know I don't participate much because I am not as well versed in the X an O's of the game as you guys are. I really have no opinion on who should play where ( Watt to middle LB for example)...or who they should draft...I get my enjoyment just by reading what you guys have to say. Really interesting stuff.

At the end of the day I just want my players to kick the opposing players ***.
