It has come down to this. Who are the best three Punters the Steelers have had since 1970? This is the one position where the Steelers for whatever reason never had a Pro Bowl level talent.

Well, if you go into the 50's the Steelers had a guy named Pat Brady with an all time leg. He got hurt and only played two seasons, but when he played he averaged 44.5 yards per punt!

1 ) Miller. 1996-2003. Miller to me was our best punter. While his career average of 42.9 yards a punt isn't great, there were games where he really kicked us out of trouble.

2 ) Sepulveda. 2007-2011. Robo-punter had the potential to be our best ever. Unfortunately, knee injuries curtained his career. 43.7 career average.

3 ) Gardocki. 2004-2006. We had him in his last three seasons. Gardocki was a pro bowl level guy in his prime who never had a punt blocked.

Honorable Mention. Newsome, Colquitt, and Royals.

After a few day pass, I'll tally up all the votes and post them here.

I loved Sep but yeah, he had a tendency to get hurt a lot.

I kinda like the idea of Sepulveda, but in the end I sorta saw him as "all hat, no cattle."

Miller was reliable if not spectacular.

miller
gardocki

1. Miller
2. Colquitt
3. Newsome

Bobby Walden was a pretty good punter in the 70s. Not Ray Guy or anything, but he was pretty good.

I wondered if Bobby Walden would get some love.

Walden in his prime was excellent. Unfortunately, we tend to remember him after 1972, when he was in decline.

1. Slash
2. Ben
3. What's a punter?

Lol

Best 3 punters in Steelers history?
1: Josh Miller
2: Josh Miller
3: Josh Miller

Honorable Mention(s): Gardocki, Sepulveda---linebacker at a punter position. Too bad he never had the chance to light someone up on a return. I think he would've if not for constant knee injuries

1.). Miller
2.)
3.) Gardocki

Does anyone Remeber that every time Gard. Punted how over and over and over the announcers reminded us of he NEVER had a blocked punt????? THAT in itself got O-L-D. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Salute the nation

Yeh Del, I almost said.."who cares" but that would be rude.

I view the punter as part of the defense. A good one can save the defense 20 or more yards a game, limit returns by forcing fair catches, kick a team out of trouble, or drop punts inside the 10-yard line when the game is close.

Most punters these days big men with some athletic ability. The Steelers have had bad punting for years...once we have a good one, you'll appreciate him.

I think Monday has a real shot to upgrade us. We shall see.

One more day and I'll tally up the results for the all-time Steeler team since 1970, listing our best, 2nd best and 3rd best teams as voted here by the fans.
