as far as that goes, both teams were poorly coached, but we had 140+ yards I think, more than Cincy even, we had at least three fifteen yarders agasint us off the top of my head and all Three killed great field position
But we were cool when it counted, and they weren't. If we had starting throwing bows when they started ****, the penalties would have been offsetting.
That's good coaching no matter how you slice it, and the Haters need to recognize.
Absolutely we kept our cool late and Tomlin gets a lot of credit for that, but my point I'd we can't have 140+ next week
Agreed. In our defense, it was COMING DOWN out there. Everybody was having trouble handling the ball, and that's why I think we limited our vertical throws.
Ben and AB's health status will be key. If they're down, we're ****** like Catholic school *****. If they're healthy we already know we can beat Denver. Manning ain't what he used to be and that defense is overrated.
Foolish decision to have Ben throwing on 3rd-and-18 after that heated sequence when the Bengals would make every effort to hurt him.
True, but that is just a good individual play. It doesn't cover that the offense was terrible even with Ben. And i don't think the defensive gameplan was that great either. Many of the stops were because McCarron couldn't throw the wet ball. They had guys open and eventually they did make a few plays and took the lead.
16 - 0 is much better than 15 - 0. There really isn't a logical argument to leave a point out there in this game.I disagree wholeheartedly, the call was a no brainer, and there really isn't a logical argument to be made that 16 points was better than 15 points at that stage of the game, in fact the only difference in the game was it caused it to be 18-16 instead of 19-17.
Once again, Time is important in the decision. If it's in the 4th quarter, then you go for 2 because it could essentially end the game by making it 3 scores. But going for 2 as early as they did was a mistake because at that point, you had to assume there would be more scoring, by both teams.
It wasn't horrible to go for 2 there but i do think it was a mistake in a game where the score was so low and you were having trouble scoring. I would have taken the more sure thing.
I Tomlin was outpaced again tonight, the absolutely stupid decision to go for 2, the stupidity of having Ben throw the ball up 15 on 3rd and 18 against a team that wanted to headhunt him. We won DESPITE Tomlin.

Actually, I'd say that was all Ben. He should've gotten rid of the ball, even if no one was open, just whip it as far as he could b/c and int is as good as a punt from that spot. Instead he ran right into Burflicshit's arms all on his own. No one to blame but Ben on that play. It seems every time Ben gets hurt its b/c he held onto the ball too long, you think he'd learn by now...
Agreed...I blame the coaching staff for calling a pass play on 3rd-and-18 after they'd been running the ball most of the night. Run a draw, gain a couple yards, run out the third quarter clock, don't give the other team any momentum with a 12-yard sack on the 5-yard line, don't risk an injury to Ben against an obviously fired-up Bengals defense, and punt the ball back to them from the 20 at the start of the 4th.
Real simple.
I had no problem with going for 2. Ben threw a bad pass on it. Not Tomlins fault. Hindsight is 20/20. Steelers stopping the Bungles on there 2 point conversion was huge also at the time.
Yep, especially in the rain. Gauge the situation, a run and punt gives the ball back to the Bungles probably around their 30 yard line and Ben doesn't get hurt, game then is not even as close. McCarron then has to drive the whole field in poor conditions. I was screaming at the TV before the play to just run the ball and watched in horror as Ben dropped back to pass. He had no chance. The coach has to take control in that situation. We hit a brick wall after that sack and you knew the sack was coming.
