Where is the star power?

Joey Porter is a top 10 player at CB or damn close. TJ is a top 10 player. Frazier is a top 10 Center maybe better. Cam may be slowing a bit but he is still an all pro.
Cam is an all pro in your eyes anyways. When he started worrying about sacks oir run D went south. He got his though.

The leagues eyes as well. Sadly I don’t get a vote on that. 2nd team all-pro is not an easy honor to get. It isn’t like the worthless pro bowl.

Oh yeah that's right I forgot its an individual sport.
Both missed guys wide open on a regular basis down the field. It is what it is. Both were afraid to take a hit. Sad we went with them instead of rebuilding. The franchise has been set back until we move on from the win now mentality. We probably have an agreement with Rodgers this season also.

Yep. As he has worried less about scheme and more about sacks to be an All-pro our run defense suffered. Hey though.....stats say he is an All-pro.

His run D still is top notch. The problem is scheme, 2 DL ain't cutting it against heavy running teams
It can be top notch....but it hasn't been. He pins his years back and looks for sacks first the majority of the time. Maybe it is the system as you say. 1st half of his career our run D was solid. The 2n half our run D had struggled. It is what it is. Whether you blame him or the system we get gouged regular now for years vs the run. Hey though.....he is an all pro regularly.....not for his run stopping ability...

There was very rarely wide open receivers. Most of what they actually got was Rodgers gaming the other team with jis ability to move pieces around. They won a division with Joe Burrows and Lamar Jackson playing in it. Yes if it was up to me they would see what they would get out of Howard and then draft in '27 if necessary. But these guys are paid to WIN and Rodgers gives them best chance next season. And frankly there is nothing else close.

Lol...Lamar and Burrows were hurt for huge amounts of the season. And Rodgers miss open guys weekly. Open guys in the NFL usually have guys close to them. It isn't college football where guys run free wirh no defender within yards routinely. Even when guys did get that open Rodgers probably missed more than he hit. Seems you have some selective memory going on here. Maybe you are remembering Rodgers lone SB appearance. 🤔 🤪

“Cameron Heyward 84.5 The Gold Standard. Even at 36, he led all NFL interior defenders in overall grade (90.4). He remains a brick wall against the run.”

AI when evaluating the Steelers run D from last season listed Cam with some pretty glowing remarks.

I do not see him as a DLine liability. The rookies didn’t stay in their gaps and Benton is playing out of position. I think Graham will fix these issues and Day will upgrade the nose..

Meh.....the eye test says otherwise when the other team was gashing us on the ground. Hey though. Go ahead and throw AI into the argument now.

He seemed pretty solid to me when i glued in.

Your eye test my eye test and joe blows eye test can all be different.

Steelers have the tape test, the knowing his assignment test, etc. And kept him around. With a whole new coaching staff whatever they looked at they were comfy enough to keep him around longer.

😉

Pff stats pointed toward the rookies struggles and Benton being out of position.

I have looked at game tape with TMC and saw different things.

I am not saying you are entirely incorrect. Perhaps it isn’t as a steady issue that you believe.

Splits with him in the game in 2024 we were top 5 run defense and bottom 5 without him. He was still good last year but not quite as effective. Harmon was and will be his replacement in run defense along with the slightly younger but not young signing. I am not sure who it was, but someone was missing a lot of assignments up front this year and that impacted the run defense as people were trying to do too much and were not gap solid. It could have been Cam, but I personally doubt that. I am looking forward to a better called defense and better use of personnel, on both sides of the ball.

Benton tried to do too much at times and Black was thrown into the fire. He missed assignments but showed promise. Give these guys a preseason together with the new guy and hopefully better play calls and design and it could be a vastly different outcome. Particularly if we can get the offense doing something.

I agree. I think if they put Day at nose and rotate the others they will keep them fresh and productive.

This roster is a disgrace. It’s a combination of having an incompetent coach for nearly 2 decades and an out-of-touch, cheap-a*s owner who is about as clueless as they come. Oh yeah, the in house hire GM .. that move has really shaken things up. Apparently his knack is paying for over-the-hill, sh*t talent.

Now we have a “new” coach who’s older and fatter than the other moron that we had. And how exciting, will he or won’t he? Can’t wait to see if Rodgers sucks on the field this season or just sucks in life.

And yes, we are fools for giving Watts and Heyward new contracts. These guys were old and irrelevant 2 seasons ago.

Way to f*ck up what used-to-be one of the best franchises in football, Rooney. Hopefully whichever son or grandson we get after you is only half as clueless.

Watt and Heyward got us nothing.....I would have moved on from both. Hey though.....maybe they get NFL man of the year award this year....or a pro-bowl....All-pro is a possibility I guess. 🤔

I will give the new FAT man a chance though with thrse 2 and the rest of our roster. What else am I able to do anyways.....I am a Steeler fan. Get it done FATMAN!!!!!

The only disgrace is the fact Coolie hasn't kicked your whiny *** out yet.

Heyward was the top rated IDL per PFF this year, and while I can't see the grade splits, his overall 90+ grade could not be possible without a high run defense grade.

Meh.....the eye test says otherwise. Funny how some sites that grade players everyone laughs at...yet others people champion. The year Garrett won DPOY....look at his stats to Watts. Then tell me who should have won. Yet some site gave Garrett some made up stat to make him look good. Simply watch the games. When RBs are gashing us on drives where the opponent doesn't even attempt to throw a pass and the drive the length of the field and score...........🤔

I don't entirely trust PFF. He did play well but the run defense didn't seem to suffer as badly with him out as the year before. It just suffered overall except when Harmon was in seemingly.

I thought the eye test was pretty good on him but I don't disagree entirely on PFF. They are all over the place. And Collinsworth is the main guy which is a huge red flag.

Lol, that's exactly what PFF grades by -- the eye test, on every single play with multiple analysts. Do you analyze Heyward's every play on the All-22 every week?

And Lebanon, Cris is the majority owner of PFF, he's not grading players and it's unlikely he's giving marching orders based on biases like Dr. Evil with a whiny southern drawl, that's crazy fan talk.
