What the Browns did w/ Watson was asinine, but giving Garret a few million more than the former highest paid guy is not the same thing. We do not know what TJ will take. I assume he would take somewhere between Crosby and Myles if he wants to be here. After the Raiders signed Crosby we were looking at 36+ for TJ anyway. Guaranteed money is another thing we are looking at somewhere between 90-120 million more than likely. I could see TJ taking less to goto a true contender or asking the steelers to pay more to stay and I cant blame him. I do think ultimately we will sign TJ, he is not the type of player we let walk. You’re ******* arguing just to argue. It doesn’t matter where you rank either player. The Browns paid Garret five million more per season than Crosby. That reset the market.
Yes, originally the Raiders set the market but Haslam reset it by 5 million per season.
TJ is averaging like 28 million per season. Had Haslam just signed Garret to the same amount as Crosby at 35 million, that’s where we’d be now with trying to resign TJ. Since Haslam decided to reset things, now to keep TJ we will have to pay him 40 million and not 35 million.
Do you understand now?
