This is why I like to take the BPA. The draft isn't deep at ILB so why draft an ILB? I'd rather take the BPA in the first 3 rounds then you can take shots at ILB later and hope to find one. I argued with TMC about this point. He was totally right. After I saw the Steelers draft Troy Edwards because they "needed" a WR it started to make sense to me. The first 3 rounds (give or take a few spots) is where you need to find top talent. There will be some players at similar levels on the draft board. If you have 2 players ranked at the same level then you take the one where you need him. But if you have a 2nd round grade on Bush don't pick him in the first round if you have a 1st round pick on someone who is available.
but is not just the Steelers, Bush is being defined by most draft people as a solid pick in the mid 1st, is not like drafting him at 1.20 would be a reach. Not that I am totally sold on him, just pointing a fact that almost everyone sees him as a plug & play guy at the NFL level with the skills of a playmaker, above someone similar like Mack.
Now if someone falls of better value then BPA all the way but if they are rated similar then why not go with your biggest need?
