What if Bell has a non-football injury and then signs his tender?

Article in the Post-Gazette reports MeVeon was riding a jet ski in Florida. I'm not one to wish injury on someone but Karma can bite hard. This raises the question: If he does get hurt while out, can he really sign his tender and collect his salary from a hospital bed or does he have to pass a physical first?
 
Most pro contracts state if they get hurt outside of Howe sport doing certain activities the team can get money back

Yup. That is the risk with not signing the tender. If he gets hurt working out on his own, or a stripper sits down too hard on his knee while bouncing up and down. He'd come in, and bam doctors would call foul and the tag can be voided. That would screw his next contract:

Doesn't report to camp for second year in a row.
Doesn't sign when the season starts
Shown in a strip club late Saturday before the Steelers play a game
Throws shade after the result
Talks like it's the team's fault trying to make him the highest paid RB for the second year in a row
Jerking around on a jet ski mouthing off with his white bro, about the Steelers needing to pay him

This is a trend now that will affect teams from signing this guy to a blockbuster deal.

He has to pass a physical and probably take a drug test before signing the tag.

What about his weight? He didn't look like in peak form to me.

And sometimes when the grass is greener its because there is more **** there.
 
I don't think there's any danger of him getting hurt

I call Bullshit.....Bell has NEVER hit the hole hard, that is why he doesn't ever break off long runs from scrimmage....Too busy dancing behind his line

Hey Slash. The injury/out of shape clause only has to do with changing the guaranteed payment AFTER the tender is signed. So Bell could come in, sign the tender, and the Steelers have 20 days to get him reviewed by a 3rd party doctor to deem him (outside of peak excellent condition). If so the contract is then voided, Bell is a FA and the Steelers don't pay him a dime.

From the CBA:

If a player subject to a Franchise Player designation accepts the Required
Tender, the resulting Player Contract shall be fully guaranteed if the player’s contract is
terminated because of lack of comparative skill; as a result of an injury sustained in the
performance of his services under his Player Contract; and/or due to a Club’s determination
to create Room for Salary Cap purposes. For purposes of this Subsection only, any
contract termination due to the failure of the player to establish or maintain his excellent
physical condition will be subject to review of a neutral physician appointed by the parties,
whose physical findings will be conclusive in any arbitration proceeding relating to
the physical condition of the player at the time of the exam, provided that such exam
takes place within twenty (20) days of the contract termination
