Week One Beatdown

Bet against your own team?

I do not bet but if I did, you can damn sure know that I would never ever pick against the Steelers. Ever.

Even in my pick-em leagues 10+ years I never bet against the Steelers.
Me either, even though there have been some real gimme's the last couple of years.

Depends if you want to make money or not. We'll see what shakes out in camp and preseason but even without Brady I'd take the Pats** if the spread is less than a TD. One, they own our *** (which I hate) and two, they almost never lose at home no matter who they are playing, which I attribute to more nefarious tactics by Belicheat, since again referring to the Spygate book their record against the spread at home is ridiculously good and statistically improbable.

I hear the Patriots are now moving because of all the bad press To Massacheatsus

The season couldn't start any better, to be the champ, you have to BEAT THE CHAMP! We have the toughest schedule in the league this year and what better way to set the tone. Tomlin should have no problem getting the team fired up for the season opener. NFL Kickoff, national TV audience. The league suspended our starting running back and their all world QB for this. Chess match, they have our knight off the board (Bell), but we have their queen (Brady). I really like our chances now.....we win this one.....GO STEELERS!!!!

Its only May and the whiny *** Tomlin-haters are already in full force.

While this may be a good accurate post.

In my opinion it IS the HC job to Have the team ready to play.

Imagine New England celebrating their Super Bowl victory at Gillette Stadium on opening night without Brady... I'll believe it when I see it!

He may just disappear like the video tapes and the air from the footballs, and he just might be harder to find than a plausible explanation for the wins with out cheating playing the biggest role.

So Tomlin has nothing to do with winning and losing, got it.

According to his detractors he has nothing to do with winning but to blame for all losses. How else could his record be what it is and he be seen by some as inept?

1) his teams usually suck for the first few weeks of the season until they work out the kinks (isn't that what camp is for?) and 2) his teams reliably lose to bad teams with worse records, indicating a lack of preparation and motivation.

Coaching isn't the key here...its how the line plays to protect Ben and if Ben can hit 70% of his passes, not take dumb sacks and not turn the ball over...if he protects the ball, the line protects him, we win this thing by double digits. The PattyJokes will not have 3/4 of their DBs, no Woolfork. If that defense still shuts down our potent offense, that likely means they (PattyJokes) are somehow cheating ...STILL. I see absolutely no reason why this offense cant put up 400 yrds and 5 scores against these cheatin som oma *******......If we have to outscore em, 38-30 even with Jimmy Crabapples

It would be nice to see a win and not have grbitpole look like the second coming of Dan Marino. Hopefully the team goes against the perceived norm and shows up ready to play and not need a trip back to the lab to see what things obviously need corrected. Obviously they should have lots of time to prepare for Bell to not be in the line up and should not have trouble functioning with out him. With just the smallest amount of luck they could come out a winner.

I would however suggest that Tomlin and associates call for the zebras to check the pressure of the ball as soon as the cheats run a play.

Yep. That has been the MO of our team the last few years, but at what point do the players themselves take on a large part of the blame? Never? ....Ever?

well if you want to criticize individual plays,, then yes.. the player gets the blame.. As a whole when the team flounders against crap teams and come out flat or unprepared,, then yeah coaches.

I will disagree. Sorry. The blame of course will fall on the players and coaches. We start out slow in the beginning of the season. Players aren't motivated...Coaches fault. Really?

So we have a couple of things going against us - Tomlin never has this team ready to compete early in the season, and we will probably be facing a backup QB. That said, I really think we will come out and stomp those ********, whether Brady plays or not.

At some point, we have to get back to kicking ***

You can't hit anyone! You can't bring the meanness when you have to play flag football. It ******* sucks. I know if i see a bunch of group hug tackling again this year i'm going to lose it.

Here's the Patriots secondary.
CB - Ryan Logan, Justin Green, Malcolm Butler
S - Patrick Chung, Devin McCourtey

The steelers should be able to score plenty.

This team needs a vocal leader like Lloyd coming from the LB crew.

At this point it is hard to tell which steelers team will be the one to show up. If the team that scored six touch downs on two occasions does yep I agree. If the team that lost to the jets does maybe not. The one thing that has been consistent for a while is inconsistency. It would be great to beat them and have a good season against top level competition and just maybe get our first playoff win in a while. I have no idea which team will be ready to start the season this year, and I suspect there is no one but but Ben, Heath, Harrison, and Warren maybe Spaeth that has the hatred of the cheatriots that we do and maybe not even them. I suspect that as pre-season rolls to a close we might have a better idea.

I also do not trust Rodger to do the right thing by either increasing the penalty as was done for Ray Rice or leaving it alone. Season long is the right answer for brady* and belicheat* and nothing less. Not knowing is no excuse.

Now that our retiree is no longer on the roster, maybe some one will pick uop the need, to voice.

Salute the nation

I'm sure you have some stat's that prove this since you quote it so much.

It's pretty easy to look up their records each year. I'm not going to do your work for you.
In fairness they usually got off to slow starts most years under Cowher as well.
