Vick meeting with Steelers

Way back when the Mike Vick story broke - and this was eluded to earlier in the thread - dog fighting, a rising problem in the South was a way of life. Unfortunately, Mr. Vick, bank rolled and participated in this activity AND he was arrested, charged and served his time for this crime.

Here's what I want to know - and I really think I know the answer already; but, if someone is brave enough to reply then let's hear it...For all of you who are upset with the signing of Mike Vick, because of his disgusting Southern lifestyle - WHAT ARE YOUR FEELINGS ON THE REBEL FLAG that continues to fly and is being purchased "because that's just how we were"???

Both of these topics can easily be tied together and if you despise ONE---then without a doubt---you should despise the other.

I am all for removing rebel flags from every public entity...as far as other people flying them we have first amendment rights in this country. But to compare displaying a rebel flag (or a Nazi flag or a Satanic flag or an ISIS flag or any other offensive visual material you can think of) with actually torturing and executing living creatures, is ridiculous.

I don't like what he did either. But I know how I would feel if those who are particularly emotional about the sins I've committed in life tried vehemently to prevent me from making a living because of that even after I've paid my debt to society. I'm not going to sit here and pretend like Michael Vick should be written off from ever participating in his craft ever again. That would be disingenuous and frankly a little self-righteous. Sure we love dogs. But there are people out there who love whoever you've done wrong in life too.

But I have NEVER tortured an animal until it died. Have you? Really? I've never hurt a kid. I haven't abused anything for enjoyment sake. Have you? Really?

Come on people. There is one thing to forgive being human. It is entirely different to forgive torturing an animal until it dies, laugh about it, call it for the best and go to bed at night and sleep soundly. That is what Michael Vick did.
