We signed a corner from Toledo today named Chetham Norrils
The guys got a story. Definitely worth a read. In short, prior to the 2014 season, he struggled recovering from summer workouts. Tests were ran and found nothing. When things didn't get any better, he went to the hospital and they found he had pneumonia and a viral infection which was eating through his body. It was an anomaly. Doctors didn't know what caused it or where it came from. He was hospitalized and reportedly dropped upwards of 40lbs. He could've lost his life, it was that serious. When he was finally released from hospital, he had developed blood clots due to being bed ridden for so long and needed to be on blood thinning meds. Going back to every day life was a struggle for him, let alone playing football ever again. He fought through everything, eventually recovered from it all, and got back on the field healthy for the 2015 season with a new found appreciation for life and the game of football. Was named co-captain and had a nice season. Coach praised the energy he brought to the team. I had no idea about his story when watching his tape, but I liked his tape enough to look into him further as I thought he could be a nice developmental DB in the 7th-UDFA. This guy has experience playing outside corner, slot corner, and safety throughout his college career. Has great ball skills, is extremely competitive, very physical, shows good instincts playing the ball and receivers, and has zero problem tackling or supporting the run. Was a WR and basketball player in high school. Decent size at 5'11 191lbs. His pro day numbers are good and more than NFL worthy:
40-yard: 4.60
20-yard: 2.60
10-yard: 1.60
Bench reps: 20
Vertical jump: 40 1/2
Broad jump: 11'01"
20-yard shuttle: 4.20
3-cone: 6.62
His bench reps, vertical jump, broad jump, short shuttle, and 3-cone are all ELITE numbers and would have put him up there for all DB's at the combine. I'm pulling hard for this guy. Hoping he can at least earn a place on the practice squad.
