Title says it all. I realize this has been discussed over and over but we need a fresh thread occasionally. Like him or not, Blount looked pretty powerful in the Super Bowl. Our Bell never powers off runs such as that. 17million is way to much and I have said 2years 21mil GAURANTEED 3rd year option is about the ABSOLUTELY best I would offer. I know he would never sign but that is what it is.

Yea or NAY what's your opinion and price tag????

PS When Blount was escorted out how many here foresaw his production and SB wins..................NONE

It is what it is at this point. 30% odds Bell signs long term. A 70 % odds he is gone next year with a ****** comp pick to show as a return.

who gives a **** about blount, **** him

I could give less than 2/147ths **** about Blount but it is odd the cost of BLUNDT vs the perceived cost of BELL. What are you willing to pay BELL, hypothetically speaking of course.

I hear yaz slash but looking for what your commitment to his pay should reflect yet keeping our team COMPETATIVE. I know what we say here don't mean jack/**** to the actual reality of the team but pay vs competing news is a fine line.

I think you're close number on the %'s

i would've been okay with bell taking the contract offered to him last season, nothing more. he can play on the tag and be gone at season's end for all i care, no skin off my back. the steelers have gotten his best years by this point, anyway.

FULLY agree as I don't think he will be back next year and I actually think he plays a little defensive this season if and when he shows up (I'm not fully convinced he will be here week one). On top of all that he won't be ready to play game speed until 5-8 weeks after he does decide to show up.

What ever their offer is this year I would up it once and for all a final offer. 10% increase... And let him know it was the final offer. I don't think they have reached that point yet.

I never saw this production coming, but I did know that you don't dump a Quality RB at the end of the season when you have an injury/suspension prone RB heading into the playoffs.

Tomlin and Colbert's worst move to date.

I hear yaz Cope and NO ONE here could predict Blunt's post STEELERS production. The last part underlined in your quote sums up why I'm reluctant to PAY the farm to BELL. I realize there are no guarantees to injury but Bell is a well used RB at this point in his career and he may squeeze a couple more good years but then........ drop off and that drop off will happen proportionately to the size of contract signed (the bigger contract the faster the drop off). As long as BELL is a STEELERS player I will care but once gone it's Adios amigo......

Resend offer and finally fix the dedense would hsvd been whst i wanted going into free agency. Now nothing left to help us. Let him play out the franchise tag year and fix the dwdense next year.

I’m new to this and usually don’t post anything. But this really got me going! The Steelers sent some players to York PA for some basketball play over the weekend. My wife and I had run into some of the player in West York at Fender’s Bar And Grill. One of the players was really ignorant to many people and I’m sorry he was even associated with the Steelers Organization. Thanks for nothing Charlie Batch. Way to represent an awesome organization and local meet.

Fix the defense this year through the draft. They can win without Bell, but not with the current D.

Sorry you had a bad experience with some of the players and I wouldn't have guessed Charlie Batch to be a problem guy. I met him once a long time ago and he seemed very decent and obliging. good luck with future endeavors in STEELERS meetings.

It's actually 3 rings for Blount.... It was early in the '14 season he and Bell did their rendition of Cheech and Chong, when he was cut and signed with the Pats* only to go on to win the SB over Seattle. '16 season was followed by SB win over Atlanta and then on to Phili in '17 with a SB win over the Pats*! So that POS has 3 rings.

Tomlin and Colbert's worst move to date.

Bell wasn't know to be a suspension problem to this point... his 1st transgression was what led to Blount being cut and Bell's initial suspension, served at start of '15 season. Then he didn't make drug tests, leading to suspension served at start of '16 season. Then he had the balls to miss camp and hold off on signing Franchise tag to start '17 season, rather than recognize that while he was fully under contract, and being paid more than fairly for a player who, to that point missed the start of consecutive seasons due to suspension, and finished multiple seasons short, with injury, maybe, in good faith, he owed it to his team, teammates, and the paying fans to refrain from using the leverage normally afforded Franchise tagged players???

I say good riddance and wish there were some way to jettison him out now, with some degree of compensation? Maybe a deal with a team like the Colts, who's have a glaring weakness at RB, 3 second round picks and room under the cap??? Simultaneously work a deal with Colts for two 2nd round picks for Bell, while having him understand Colts are willing to extend him at numbers he's looking for, but he has to sign the Franchise tag to be traded. Steelers get 2 additional 2nd round picks, giving them options of moving up in 1st or moving back into 1st to get best combo of ILB, S and top 2-5 RB in draft. Bell goes to a team with top young QB and poor man's AB in Hilton, with minimum 8 games on fast track, but most importantly the money his greedy *** wants. Colts immediately have a top weapon to add to Luck/Hilton, giving similar dynamics "expected" of Steelers offense?

Win! Win! Win!

I can't recall having such distain for a Steeler like I have for Bell. I could live with missing games for injury, as it's a tremendous part of the game. But 6 games to suspension for weed? I make far less than Bell... my entire career will amount to less than one of his lesser earning years, yet I am subject to drug tests and recognize, my profession is more important than partying. If he was spotless, with only games missed to injury, I'd be the 1st to say, "pay the man!" His decision to leverage the tag rules until the very last moment, after missing the start of the previous couple seasons was a disgrace. Almost rather not win a SB with him and hope he ultimately ends up with a team that annually mismanages things, with little chance of making a championship run! Hope Browns or Jets find a way to bring him aboard!

...let us not forget, the Steelers selected him before Lacy, who was regarded as the higher prospect all during pre-draft process?! Yet no appreciation for the Steelers foresight, which was confirmed to this point, but still gave Bell a greater opportunity than if they passed.

Bluesteel, I hear everything you are saying and most here see the arrogance involved but many don't want the change. They are comfortable with BELL because they know what they have got. I think he can be replaced, maybe NOT exactly but we don't need exactly and could put two very qualified studs in the mix with what he wants for pay. I know the free agency is picked thin so obviously if he signed and a trade could be made. Here is where I think the STEELERS handcuffed themselves. Exclusive tag is a set trade (2-1st round draft pickles 1each next two years) and NO team is going to give that for someone they may get next season for $$$ ONLY, no picks.

I certainly hear you, that it wouldn't seem beneficial for a team to give up multiple picks, especially 1st round picks for a player that may be gone after a year. I didn't realize, if/when Bell were to sign the Exclusive Franchise tag, an agreed compensation for trade couldn't be negotiated. I thought the two 1st round picks were if a team signed away a non-Exclusive tagged player and the original team didn't match. I thought something like Landry to Browns could be worked out? Or, Steelers/Bell still have the potential to work a long term deal and void the tag. It wouldn't be the first time in sports if a sign and trade were done, where the Steelers sign Bell to what he wants, based on the Colts agreeing that they're willing to pay him at his agreed price tag and then work out the compensation as any trade would be, with my feeling, Bell, signed long term, is worth trading two second round picks, especially for a team that has one 1st and three 2nd's, with money to spend? If two 1st round picks are the asking price for OBJ (absurd or not), two 2nd round picks are not out of line for Bell. Colts could go O-line, possibly top O-lineman at 6, have Luck/Bell/Hilton and still have top 2nd round pick for a D player? Or maybe even Chubb in 1st, still Luck/Bell/Hilton and O-line early in 2nd round?

Steelers could go several directions with three 2nd round picks? Package their 1st and a 2nd to move up in 1st for ILB or S and still get one or the other, plus a shiny new RB in 2nd. Or package their 1st and two 2nd's to move way up in round one for Smith or Fitzpatrick if they slide even a little bit, with all the quarterback love going on? and still get another good D player or RB with remaining 2nd and 3rd round picks.

A lot of ways to go if they can get Bell to agree to terms, one way or the other to make the trade, which again, appears a Win/Win/Win for all 3 parties.

Knowing if he walks next year it would only bring a third. I would be looking for a 1st and some other picks. A 1st at worst.

Bell is hurting the Steelers by not signing. I’ll take a 3rd for him right now if that is all the Steelers can get.

Tell Me’von the Steelers can trade him. He just needs to sign the tag. If he still thinks he’s getting 17 million this season draft his replacement and pull the offer.

Then I hope he makes less than the tag amount and plays for a bad team.

A few weeks ago you wanted the #4 overall pick, now you're cool with a 3rd rounder? Some tough negotiator you are lol
