Saw on ESPN that Tuitt and Decastro restructured their contracts to clear about $13.5 million for this year. That's about enough if they have to franchise Bell. Still think Mitchell should get cut in favor of someone else.

They need a FS and a ILBer with experience. Perhaps a some more work/structures to do......

I think they FA one of FS and ILB and draft the other. You cant get two starters in FA. They are set on offense. If they dont have to draft a qb they should be able to het a blue chip player at 1.28 at FS or ILB. Those are good spots for the second or third best at the position. One will be good value. I cant watch Mitchell play another down. He pissed me off so badly with his big mouth no production.

Cutting Mitchell provides a significant chunk of savings as well.

I think you can get two starters in free agency. Especially if you are hunting correctly. Someone like Boston who had a good year but a inconsistent past might not command high dollar. There is a decent amount of OK ILBers available. Not stars but not liabilities like Spence was. So you experience upgrade and that didn't break the wallet. Then you can BPA your draft at ILBer,OLBer,FS,SS,TE,WR,RB,NT.

Also, not a cap guru, but if they extend Ben 2 or 3 years that will lower his cap hit this season as well

We were almost $5 million over the cap before the restructures. We currently have a little less than $10 million in space so either cutting Mitchell, restructuring Ben or some other moves are still needed if we have to franchise Bell. They must use the tag in a couple weeks (can't recall exact deadline). I am not sure if they have to have the space available then or later in the off-season.

Players don't give money back any more than teams throw money at guys who outperform their contracts.

Dupree ain't getting 5th year optioned either...

Maybe our new OLB coach can.................OH wait......Joey is still here. Cope I think jury is still out on that decision. I realize he leads to be desired but for 5th year option and cost, the front office might think he is of value. With the new coaching changes Joey may suddenly wake up and earn his pay. I think Durpee could be adequate with coaching but I'm no expert.

Once the league year starts they must stay under the cap..

Saw yesterday that we actually have less than $8 million in cap space after the restructure. Cutting Mitchell won't even be enough to franchise Bell but maybe sign a long term deal.

I don't think that shows the cap increase??? Do you know if the increase is in that number??

No, not sure but I saw another article that said we had a little over $7 million in space so who knows. Either way, more cuts and restructures are coming just to sign Bell and especially if we franchise him.

I could very easily be wrong but I don't think the increase will be represented until the NEW fiscal year starts around March 14th. I'm not sure what or the amount that increase is. I've heard rumors but nothing solid.

Tuitt should give some money back for the past season. Did nothing in the playoffs or leading up.

he played injured most of the year, others would have said "**** it, I'm taking a vacation this season while rehabbing"

Sportac is widely known as a bad site for cap numbers. Over the cap is the one used by many.

All the sites have updated with what they expect the cap to go up to. So we are around 7 mil under the new cap.

We went up $12M the last 2 seasons. I say we go up $12-$14M this year.

Shazier retiring clears $8M. I expect this move in the next 3 weeks.
