Tomlin and Haley's contract are up in 2016

Cowher has been out of the game a long time now. The only guy that took a big break and then was successful in his second attempt was Dick Vermeil. I think the old fire is long gone --- Cowher has realized he can make a lot of money while barely working and that beats the heck out of sleeping at the office. Teams aren't even calling him anymore because 1) he has said no consistently when called in the past and/or 2) they don't want a guy who has been out of the game for 10 years and who might wonder "why the hell did I agree to come back to this ****" as soon as his team has a 2-game losing streak.

Al,

Which team has called Cowher and offered him a job? We don't know. He's not coming back to coach the Browns or Jaguars. But if its a playoff level team, its a different story. Point two is valid but with a shallow pool of top level head coaching candidates maybe not so much.

Our offense rocks. The defense must be re-built. and leadership has been an issue. I think Cowher if he's still hungry can have us back to winning playoff games

Cowher will never step on another coach to get their job. So there will be no secret phone calls between the Rooneys and Bill. No back room meetings. Besides...have you seen Bill lately? Looks like his head is to big for his body to be able to coach anymore.

That's where I'm at. I don't think Cowher was an awesome coach and I don't think Tomlin is a awful coach. I do think that Tomlin is an average coach and that Cowher was better overall.

See, people can agree without having to put a microscope to either of them. Frankly, I don't think either of them got or get enough out of the talent on their rosters.

Bill never said he's done coaching.

Is there a chance? Ponder this. The Steelers finish 7-9 or 9-7, and do not make the playoffs in 2015. This is six seasons with no playoff wins. Okay for Browns fans, but not us! Dan Rooney who Bill calls Mr. Rooney with respect makes a private call to Cowher asking if he'd consider being a coach for 4 years. If Bill says yes, Tomlin is let go. If he says no, Tomlin is here for 2016, and no one knows about it. That is how it could go down.

It all depends. Cowher would make the hall of fame if he won another super bowl. His wife has passed, and daughters have all graduated from college. Cowher's comment last year that the Steeler have gone soft raised eyebrows and dropped some jaws. Not only was he right, you could tell the old fire was back when he said it.

" Speaking shortly after a 31-10 blowout loss to the rival Cleveland Browns on Sunday, Cowher said that his former team "has gotten soft."

"I never thought I would say these words," Cowher said on CBS, right before taking his shot."

Man sometimes I think people here believe in Unicorns and the Loch Ness Monster. He's never coming back man, move on already.
