Thoughts on the Ram game?

Let's move on from the way down and way up weeks to week 3 and our next opponent, the St. Louis Rams. We get LeVeon (corrected) Bell back.

How much does he play? Do you alternate him with Deangelo Williams? Or use a two back set?

The Rams have a poor passing offense, so our biggest weakness won't be badly exposed. On defense the Rams can rush the passer, but do little else. Haley will need to mix in some screens.

Should be an easy game.

I think because the Redskins ran on them, you test it with our one two punch of Thunder & Lightning.

On O they aren't the Patriots, they might not even be the 49ers.

They are at home and that will make it a tougher matchup.

Should be a fun game to watch..........

Fixed it for ya

I hate playing in St.Louis. The last trip there in 2007 spelled the beginning of the end for Willie Parker with that gdamn Astroturf. It might be the worst field to play on in the NFL. Here to an injury free game and a Steelers victory!

Been there twice for my company's annual meeting (they move it around). I didn't care for it.

Bell will be used sparingly, he and Williams will split carries. Ben and the rest of the O will continue to put up numbers. Our D will build off from last week's success. We will smash the Rams...34 - 14.... not even close!!!!!

if the Rams try to blitz too much Ben will pick it up with Bell, Brown and Heath on the field. All of them succeed on getting open quick and making yards after the catch.

I have a funny feeling the steelers like usual under Tomlin will be reading the press on themselves ... Another big thing against us is Fisher out coached Cowher regularly and Tomlin isn't on the same planet as either of those two.

Our best chance is to give Ben the keys and let him beat them into submission

They don't have to blitz they are good enough to get pressure with four. We need to run the ball early and often and then kill them with play action..we can still spread them but it must be on our terms. Not on the Rams terms where they can pin their ears back and rush.

See this is exactly what I am dreading about Bell coming back for the St. Loser game. That dome turf kills running backs. Bell is coming off a suspension, but more so coming off a knee injury. That dome is a career killer.

Come out injury free and a win....that's all. Ratbirds next!

They have to stop Tavon Austin on the special teams front. Jeff Fisher just pisses me off whenever I see his face. He always has something in store for us.

Tomlin should refuse to play on the rug unless the Rams install grass.
There, problem fixed.

I get the sarcasm, but he didn't pull the team with headset problems.....................I doubt he'll grow a pair, over turf........

Salute the nation

I remember that game well, was there. Along with fast willie breaking his leg i remember Wallace catching one of the longest passes of his career.. he actually didn't score, was ran down by one of the dbacks. Will be there this Sunday also, hopefully with 25,000 other steelers fans like 8 years ago.

Edit, meant Holmes

We win this one more convincingly than the 9ers game and by a wider margin. The Rams have a lot of issues that we will exploit.

I think it's gonna be a close one, not recommended for the faint of heart

Just my gut feeling based on what I've been seeing with this team. They're getting primed to start dictating the pace of the game and forcing their will a bit (even on D - and the Rams offense is not that good). This will be a good stepping stone game for this unit.....it's what I'm hoping anyway.

271 yds and 4 TD's by my man LaVeon would be suh-weet

TIA

Don't punt to Tavon Austin! Don't play too conservative on offense. The defense does match up well to pass heavy teams. The key to a V is score touchdowns in the red zone and don't implode. I don't expect this game to come as easy as the 9er game.

Let Ben call his own plays. Easy win if he does.

IMO, this is gonna be a TOUGH game for us. Aside from the O-line being tested by one of the best DLs in the league, Ben will lose the deep ball ability he had vs the 49ers. I just think the pressure is going to be hard to contain...especially in their stadium which limits the ability to audible.

Like some have stated, I want to see some "pony" backfield formations often (at least early) to help contain and give Ben an extra blocker where he needs it. Having BOTH Williams and Bell in the backfield gives the team more options to run. We can send both in different directions to draw coverage away from Heath, we can fake a hand-off to one who then becomes an 'outlet' for the pass IF protection breaks down AND we can 'send' one and keep the other in to block or be a 'dump-off' candidate after the pressure is drawn to Ben. Getting the ball out quickly early is key to slowing down their front BUT I just don't want to see the dreaded WR screen as it only works well against 'soft' coverages once in a while.

If we can do these things early, Ben will be able to get the ball downfield for a few shots. I predict a low scoring affair in the 20-17 range.

Ben never loses the deep ball threat... he could complete them when we had no oline at all... and frankly I dont think anyone currently has a sideline answer to brown... I think this game is an utter and total blowout for the steelers. im saying 50 to 23 maybe... the rams only havent given up big passing yards because they have given up 300 yards on the ground through two games... their defense has surrendered more points than ours has and they played two less than awesome offenses in Seattle and Washington.

I have that feeling too. Been feeling like that since the week leading up to San Fran. I think this Steelers team is gonna break some records

My dick is hard that Ben will get me and my man LaVeon and AB 3 TD's apiece and lay a 50 burger on them sheep with lots of points.

One time baby...roll my dice
