This Bud's for you. Dupree did what in his last 21 games?

You are a year off. Dupree began to produce last year.

In 2018, when Bud had 5.5 sacks, and just 13 QB hits. I wasn't happy with him then.

Things changed in 2019 when he produced 11.5 sacks, far more tackles and more QB hits. The light bulb went on.

Over the past 21 games he's been excellent. He's worthy the tag money now. Our defense doesn't do with with coverage, it's the pass rush.

Nope....Berm is right. You were wanting to trade, jettison Bud half way through the season last year. Hindsight has made you forget so many things.

The problem with Ben is, unless he takes a big hometeam discount, extending him just pushed the cap hit further down the road. Eventually you have to deal with it.
Also, does Ben want to play into his 40's?

And, based on the original post, will Ben play without Pouncy??

NFLN plans to run a segment Sunday morning on the relationship Watt and DuPree have. I hear there’s a strong mutual respect and desire to see the other succeed. I’ve also heard Bud is a really good teammate and hard worker. I’d love to see them both there together as bookends in their prime. I’d rather see Bud kept than JuJu, as much as I like #19.

ALL good points but I think it's more of Pouncy won't play if BEN hangs it up but BEN hasn't said he will quit if Pouncy retires. I'd think BEN keeps plugging and he also realizes that if Pouncy is failing, BEN needs better help to protect and is willing to forgo his friend. It isn't grade school anymore and both Ben and Pouncy know that.

Bud is a huge part of the success of this defense. Watt wouldn’t be nearly as effective without Bud. They absolutely need to figure it out if we are to make a run before Ben retires

That run is this season, right here and right now. They have it figured out to date, it's next year the binge begins. I'm a little more patient to see how this year plays out and willing to see more of our rookie draft pick.

Speaking of another developing relationship is JuJu and Claypool. They live in the same building and hang out together. Juju is a good kid so not a bad person for Chase to chill with.

I hope this is accurate. I see no reason Ben can’t play as long as others are as long as he’s still a legit passer and there’s talent around him.

He'll be a good influence. Unlike Blount to Bell. That was the beginning of the end with Bell IMO.

Who is this Bud Dupree guy? I thought his name was Bust Dupree.

Actually it is Bud Durpee. Coach miss read his name and used that name for a short bit, honest mistake but regardless if it was Coach or even myself....... It was kind of a funny thing for awhile there.

BEN has said he wants to play until he feels he can't help the team. You can decipher that as you want but I see it as him NOT being tied to a Pouncy decision. That would be insane to retire before you are ready just because someone else was cut or retired, UNLESS you are ready to retire.

Keep in mind I'm sitting here eating applesauce out of a jar hoping my friend wins the lotto because he said he'd give me enough to retire................. And I said same to him. LITTLE different context for sure

Its all good. On another board they called him Bust Dupree from the start. A lot of posters were unhappy with his development, and at the time it was fresh off of our other 1st round bust. So I can understand the reluctance to be patient with his development. I think in hindsight that Joey Porter indeed did hinder his development, he was all talk. I guess it was just a bad attempt at humor on my part. :herewego:

We can Franchise him one more year, I believe with a 20% increase.

If we win it all or are right on the doorstep I can see us overpaying for a single final year...

Bud saw how AB & Leveon both killed their careers by leaving...

Dupree may just love PGH, he's got a new show & I anticipate an episode of "Bud brings a Buddy" with Buds guest being the Franchise Tag

Bell and AB are now on two Super Bowl favorites unfortunately...

You try growing up named Alvin.

Huh? Ever heard of a guy just called "Al"? There are a lot of names like that where they're always shortened, it's not like this is anything out of the ordinary or that Alvin is like some extraterrestrial name. Very popular name across the pond actually.

I read an article that said the Steelers need to make trades to keep up with the Ravens. I think of what happened to the Pens a few years ago. They were rolling, made a big trade and they fell apart. They have not been the same since. If the Steelers are playing well and winning it doesn't matter who other teams have.

No, not at all. I was just giving a little history and hoping to get a chuckle out of some.

EXACTLY, it doesn't matter what other team (gayvens) are doing we need to stick to our plan and that is #7

We have the tools and are improving per week. Coach Tomlin has E'M drinking the koolaid-aid and we don't need some SMUCK messing with this team and it's chemestry.

It's a long season but who can say we "SHOULDA" OR "COULDA" can NOT also say it's a guaranteed move to aquire said person.
