We can say all we want about player selection, but the simple, undeniable facts are these: Tomlin has put his defense in place. These are his players. This is his defense. He has nine - NINE!! - first round picks playing on this defense.

And his defense was gashed by the 49ers running game. That is on Tomlin more than any person on earth. Blaming Buttlick is just a cop-out. Buttlick is Tomlin's front guy, and nothing more.

The way I see it is that Fitzpatrick was an 11th overall pick just a year ago and looks like a potential superstar/perennial Allpro type defender.

The only the way the trade ends up being bad for the Steelers is if it turns out the Steelers missed out on a franchise QB with the pick.

That will depend on what the likes of Tua, Fromm and Herbert end up doing in the NFL.

I see the whole Fitz trade / Miami draft position as positive. We get an instant starter that Tomlin and his 'staff' shouldn't be able to @#$% up (immediately), and Steeler Nation is spared the angst and depression of what watching Tomlin and his 'staff' @#$% up one of those high picks. It's all good.

No idea why the problems in the 2nd half. 1st halves of those games - 10 total points allowed. 2nd halves? Never mind.

They were gassed in the 2nd half, TOP didn't help. And the 2DL sets is like telling a lie so much expecting it to be true.

But this is a positive thread, so I can honestly say it was the first game this year I enjoyed watching.
