The Official Thread Dedicated to "Trump Winning"

hahahahahaha

Teflon Don confounds Democrats

Democrats have attacked the president every which way, but polling and focus groups show none of it's working.

Data from a range of focus groups and internal polls in swing states paint a difficult picture for the Democratic Party heading into the 2018 midterms and 2020 presidential election.

Worse news, they worry: Many of the ideas party leaders have latched onto in an attempt to appeal to their lost voters — free college tuition, raising the minimum wage to $15, even Medicare for all — test poorly among voters outside the base. The people in these polls and focus groups tend to see those proposals as empty promises, at best.

Pollsters are shocked by how many voters describe themselves as “exhausted” by the constant chaos surrounding Trump, and they find that there’s strong support for a Congress that provides a check on him rather than voting for his agenda most of the time.

But he is still viewed as an outsider shaking up the system, which people in the various surveys say they like, and which Democrats don’t stack up well against. “People do think he’s bringing about change, so it’s hard to say he hasn’t kept his promises" Many of the proposals Democrats are pushing fall flat in focus groups and polling.

Voters are also generally unimpressed by claims that Trump exaggerates or lies, and they don’t see the ongoing Russia investigation adding up to much.

The following are not my words. But it's beautiful in many ways. Great read about HOW you win and a great depiction of the fools on the Left who think they are reading tea leaves but instead being played. MAGA.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Apparently, liberals and never-Trumpers are so isolated in their political circles that they have no concept how things work in the real world of business and corporate America. For example, they completely fail to grasp the concept of the "hatchet man."
Allow me to explain:
Say you are a business tycoon. You just successfully completed a large-scale acquisition and merger, bringing together multiple smaller companies into one conglomerate. After the merger, you want to put your own people in charge of everything. However, all those smaller companies had their own executives - and, at least for the short term - you need to keep many of them around to keep things running. So, you keep many of those executives around, and let them retain their own senior staff. You even appoint one of them - the head of the largest of the companies you acquired - to be the CEO of the conglomerate, and he pledges to get all the departments working together harmoniously.
After a transition period, some of them are doing fine in the new conglomerate - but others are clearly causing trouble. In fact, the one you appointed CEO is clearly a disaster. The newly merged departments are working against each other.
Furthermore, you have good suspicion he is dealing in insider trading - nothing you can take to a prosecutor, but there is a lot of circumstantial evidence building up. Worse, he is not only doing his own dirty dealing, but it appears he may even be leaking intellectual property to your competitors, helping them take market share from you.
Clearly, he has to go - and go now.
Problem is, many of the senior employees in your conglomerate are loyal to him. If you just fire him and put in your own chosen CEO, you know you could get a lot of backlash from disgruntled employees. And in your business, there is such a small profit-margin that you really can't afford anything at all that threatens performance. So what do you do?
In comes the hatchet man.
The hatchet man is someone you bring in for the sole purpose of slashing the problems and shaking things up over a very short period of time - but doing it in a way that deflects any blame or blowback away from you. As soon as the problems are hacked away, the hatchet man leaves - taking the ire and resentment with him, and leaving you free to bring in your new team for a fresh start.
This happens in the business world all the time. And Donald Trump is a businessman. He knows this. He has lived this. We've seen him do it on "The Apprentice." We've read about it in his books. This is not a surprise to anyone. Except for liberals and never-Trumpers.
Enter Scaramucci.
Liberals and never-Trumpers see the past two weeks as proof of a Hitler-clown-circus spectacle, as evidence that Trump is unhinged and our government is in the hands of madmen. Anyone who understands the business world and Donald Trump fully understands that what we just witnessed was a perfectly executed hatchet man maneuver.
When Trump won the election, he essentially performed the political equivalent of an acquisition and merger. He brought together different political factions - establishment Republicans, conservatives, tea party, religious right, moderates, independents, cross-overs - into one winning political coup. For some, it was a hostile takeover - and if they were going to be dragged in against their will, they would sure as hell resist.
This is where Reince Priebus came in.
Priebus, as the then-chairman of the Republican National Committee, was hired as White House Chief of Staff to be a sort of post-merger CEO. It was his job to bring all these political factions together and get them to work harmoniously. But he failed. Worse, there is ample evidence to suggest he not only failed, but worked against Trump and the Trump agenda. Look at the leaks. Look at all the chaos. Look at all the bureaucracy continuing to work at odds with the president. Priebus - and a number of other people around him - had to go.
Back to Scaramucci.
Donald Trump has known for some time that Priebus was a disaster. He was going to give him his six-month trial period - that's a fairly common thing in the private sector. After that, heads were going to roll. But Trump himself doesn't want to be the hatchet man. He needs to be able to lead after the bloodbath. So what does he do? He turns to an old friend he has known for many years - someone with nothing to lose, someone who can step in with a hatchet and hack away, someone who can then just walk away from it all and leave the slate clean. He turned to Scaramucci.
So what does Scaramucci do? He comes in swinging. He fires a few people to make a quick example. He tells others they can "resign" right now if they want to - but if not, they will be fired. Others see what is going on and just up and quit of their own accord.
That problem CEO, Priebus? Oh, the new "structure" of the organization puts Scaramucci in direct competition with Priebus - and Priebus throws up his hands and says "fine, I'm out of here." And Scaramucci does it all in a way that is spectacularly visible to draw all the fire from Trump critics.
So how does it all end? It ends with Trump putting in his new CEO - the one he probably wanted from day one, but held back - and the new CEO says "OK, Scaramucci - you are no longer needed here."
Gen. Kelly now has a clean slate to start fresh - and Scaramucci takes all the heat. Where the left and never-Trumpers see a circus freak-show, realists from the business world see a perfectly executed post-merger hatchet-man job.
The political wonks see Kelly taking command as the first sane thing to happen in this administration. They don't realize they've been played, and played perfectly. And soon we will likely see some other changes that move the Executive Branch further towards what Trump has wanted from day one. And then watch the real swamp-drainer get to work. It sucks to be Hillary Clinton right now...
Oh, and Scaramucci? He gets a sweet deal out of all this - no doubt, he and his friend Donald Trump talked it all out first.
Scaramucci was already facing a nasty divorce that would result in the liquidation of his business to divide assets. A little-known law allows people who are legally required to sell a business as a condition of employment in the Executive Branch (to prevent conflicts of interest) to defer the taxes on their profits from the sale.
Scaramucci was going to have to sell his company anyway due to his pending divorce. Now he and his soon-to-be ex-wife just saved $80 million in taxes. So don't think for a moment all this was an unplanned mess that went awry. Scaramucci and Trump knew exactly what they were doing.
All of this was planned - and foreseen. Not just by me, but by others as well.
Scott Adams wrote before Trump was inaugurated that, to his critics, the first year of Trump would be a play in three acts:
Act One - Trump is literally Hitler.
Act Two - Trump is not literally Hitler, but Trump is incompetent.
Act Three - Trump is not incompetent, but we don't like his policies.
We've seen this play out. From election night up through the first 100 days, the left was out rioting and acting as though Trump taking office was literally the end of Western Civilization.
But after 100 days, when Trump had failed to do evil-dictator things like round up all the brown people and put the gays into camps and force women to stay home and have babies, it became farcical to continue the "Trump is Hitler" narrative.
And so from that 100 day point up until now, it has been the "Trump is incompetent" game. Look at all the chaos. Look at all the leaking. Look at all the tweets. Now, we begin Act Three. With Priebus out and Kelly in, things will settle down. Pretty soon, all the left will have to say is "we just don't like Trump's policies."...Act Three.
And once that happens, the left is dead. Because, Trump's policies are policies that most Americans actually agree with. We should put America first. Build back our economy. Create jobs. Strengthen the military. Protect the border. Outside a few densely-populated liberal strongholds like New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and - of course - Washington, D.C., Americans in general agree with all of this. So when all the left has to say is "Trump's policies are wrong," the left will literally be telling most of America, "you people are stupid."
Trump will win 47 states in 2020. The left will be scratching their heads and wondering what the hell happened. And you'll be able to look back and say, "hey, some of us told you all this back in 2017.
House passes spending bill full of giveaways to polluters and big cuts to EPA and NPS
The House of Representatives voted Thursday in favor of a omnibus spending bill that environmental organizations say will help polluters and reduce the country’s air and water quality. The bill also cuts a number of programs intended to reduce greenhouse gas emissions or streamline the transition to clean energy.
The bill cuts funding for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by more than $500 million — another blow to an agency that will now have to operate on less than 75 percent of its 2010 funding levels. The National Park Service received a 30 percent cut — a greater cut than even the White House suggested earlier this year in its infamously skeletal budget proposal.
The air and water where I live is as clean as it's ever been in my lifetime. Of course we closed dozens of steel mills, lost fully one-third of our population and good-paying middle class union jobs to get there.
Judge declines to drop criminal charges against inauguration protesters
A federal judge is declining to dismiss cases for more than 200 people charged with rioting on President Trump's inauguration day.
In a decision issued Thursday, Judge Lynn Leibovitz of the District of Columbia Superior Court denied all motions to dismiss the criminal cases filed by defense attorneys who claimed clients could not be tied to specific instances of rioting on January 20th.
According to court filings, the Inauguration Day riot caused over $100,000 in property damage, after rioters broke windows of cars and businesses in the downtown area. Police arrested 234 people in the riot
Build that wall!
Waiver issued so construction of border wall can begin
The Department of Homeland Security has issued a waiver to waive certain laws, regulations and other legal requirements to ensure the expeditious construction of barriers in the vicinity of the international border near Calexico, California. The waiver was published in the Federal Register today.
This waiver is pursuant to authority granted to the Secretary of Homeland Security by Congress and covers a variety of environmental, natural resource, and land management laws.
The Department has exercised the waiver authority in Section 102 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (IIRIRA), as amended, on five previous occasions from 2005 to 2008, as well as exercising this waiver authority earlier this year for a project in the San Diego area, which was announced in August.
This current waiver covers certain border infrastructure projects in the United States Border Patrol's El Centro Sector, a critical sector for border security. In fiscal year 2016 alone, the United States Border Patrol apprehended more than 19,400 undocumented immigrants and seized approximately 2,899 pounds of marijuana and approximately 126 pounds of cocaine in the El Centro Sector.
Tim,
Do you have any link to that article above about the Hatchet Man?
good. then that means that poor people can drink directly from streams.
Actually I have a rain barrel and pump setup for washing my cars and doing laundry since I'm poor.
I got into a pretty heated debate with some of my liberal friends a few weekends ago and the subject of the "Wall" keeps coming up. They constantly want to use it as a "gotcha" type debate point. First, that it won't happen along all 1900 miles of the border and second, that Mexico won't physically write us a check to build it (i.e. we will have to pay for it with tax dollars first and find ways to negotiate getting some or all of the money from Mexico some other way).
They constantly want to argue with me these are blatant lies of his campaign and how can I possible support him.
So first, I want to apologize for getting riled up. And second, I'd like to submit this article by Scott Adams as a thesis of why I support Trump on immigration and why the fact a wall likely won't get built for all 1900 miles or every illegal immigrant won't get sent home isn't going to be some disappointment for me after his election promises (if you want to call them that).:
http://blog.dilbert.com/post/165334092961/i-explain-the-persuasion-techniques-president
If I can summarize some of the key points here:
1. During his campaign, Trump effective used the visual idea of a wall to rile up support for his immigration policies. This was much more effective that trying to be specific with all the complexity that border control and immigration policies bring. If Trump realistically tried to go into all the specifics, it gets boring in a hurry and he loses his audience. Like it or not, he's trying to sell his idea and connect to potential voters. Using strong language like "Build a Wall" and "Deport All Illegals" clearly establishes which side of the immigration debate you are on and easily lets you attack (both as being boring and/or rambling and/or ineffective) any political opponent that tries to roll out a detailed plan on immigration (like Kasich in the primaries or Clinton in the election).
2. After Trump's election there has been incredible changes in immigration through very little policy change. Just the rhetoric of his campaign and the media coverage of his inflammatory positions has created a situation of reduced illegal crossing attempts, increase deportations and stronger border control. And all these accomplishments were done without passing ANY LEGISLATION. Because of this, Trump has gained my trust (and the trust of many of his voters) that he is "philosophically aligned" with me on the issue of border control and illegal immigration. Therefore, I am going to allow him to "lead" and "negotiate" on this issue away from his campaign promises into something possible given all the complexities and dip ***** he has to deal with in Congress. Not getting everything he promised during the campaign is NOT going to diminish my support in him because he has already accomplished a LOT of what I wanted (and continues to do so on this issue). This even includes how increased border control (which will include a lot of walls) will be paid for over the long term.
In many ways that whole article epitomizes much of my support of Trump. All his outlandish positions are still based on traditional conservative politics: tax reform, smaller government/regulations, border control/immigration, military support and in fact are based on positions a majority of American's agree with. None of his outlandish campaign rhetoric means anything now that we are in the governing phase and enactment phase of his Presidency. I just know that I think he is aligned philosophically with me on many of these issues and I am going to give him leeway to navigate into legislation.
Tim,
Do you have any link to that article above about the Hatchet Man?
I don't. Honestly, my stepfather forwarded it to me in an email. One of those "please read and forward things." I rarely read that crap but read the first sentence, then the 2nd...and by the end said "you know what, this is really plausible". I live and work in the corporate business world and have seen the hatchet man do his thing more than twice.
It's theory and conjecture, but it is how businesses operate and it's a great explanation, as far as I'm concerned.
What sold me was the Scaramucci and his taxes thing. That's ******* brilliant even if the liberals will paint that as some way to abuse the system with a loophole (which it is!). That made so much sense. Trump just hired a guy to do some dirty work, look like an *** to the media and in return the guy gets to save $80 million in taxes during his divorce proceedings. Win-win.
I like everything that is happening now. I like that Trump has reached across the aisle, even with the scum bags that are Schumer and Pilosi. But remember, to me Ryan and McConnell are no better than Schumer and Pilosi. Never have been. To most of us here, they are all heads of the same bad ******* Hydra.
For all we know Trump has a plan for the next 3-4 years leading up to his re-election campaign. That might explain why health care came first, because that is a loser of a position no matter what. There just isn't a good answer to health care at all. It's too ******* expensive, everyone wants cadillac service, no one wants to pay for it, and the big business interests (Pharma, Hospitals and Insurance) are so in the pockets of congress nothing will ever get done to hurt them anyway.
The two issues I do think Trump can succeed on are taxes and immigration. As stated above, he's already won on immigration in my mind. To do as much as he has with no major legislation. To negotiate DACA in exchange for substantial border control budget increases. This is the definition of negotiation we wanted from Trump when we elected him.
Taxes will be difficult, but I think something good will come out of this over the next 6 months and go into effect for fiscal year 2018 (i.e. our tax returns for 2019). By 2020, the economy will reap the benefits of tax decreases and should be going along at full bore. Right in time for re-election 2020.
President Trump moving toward energy exploration in Arctic wildlife refuge
The Trump administration is working to allow energy exploration in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) for the first time in more than three decades, The Washington Post reported Friday.
In a memo dated Aug. 11, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Acting Director James Kurth directed the agency's regional director for Alaska to get rid of the time constraints listed in a rule that allowed exploratory drilling in the refuge between Oct. 1, 1984 and May 31, 1986.
"When finalized, the new regulation will allow for applicants to [submit] requests for approval of new exploration plans”
WH: US staying out of climate accord
(CNN)President Donald Trump still plans to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate agreement unless there are major changes made to the carbon emissions pact, the White House said Saturday.
The statement came after a European diplomat told reporters that a Trump administration envoy appeared to signal a softening stance during a meeting of climate ministers in Montreal, Canada.
A major point of contention between the United States and its global allies, the Paris climate accord issue reappeared just as Trump was set to make his major diplomatic debut at the annual United Nations General Assembly in New York next week.
Netanyahu, Trump talks Middle East peace
Netanyahu praised President Trump and said the relationship between their two countries had improved dramatically under his administration.
“Under your leadership the alliance between America and Israel has never been stronger, never been deeper. I can say this in ways that people see and in ways that they don't see, so I want to thank you for that,” Netanyahu said. “And I want to say that under President Trump, America's position towards Israel at the U.N. has been unequivocal, it's been strong, it's got both clarity and conviction. And I want thank you on behalf of the people of Israel and Israel's many friends around the world.”
Trump slams the UN in his first UN appearance
President Trump used his inaugural address at the United Nations on Monday to criticize the world body for not living up to its “potential” because of bureaucracy and urged member nations to reject “business as usual” and take “bold stands.”
“In recent years, the United Nations has not reached its full potential because of bureaucracy and mismanagement, ” Trump said at the 72-year-old organization during a meeting on reforms.
37187.jpg
Despite a ballooning budget and a doubling of staff since 2000, Trump said, “We are not seeing the results in line with this investment” and encouraged UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to focus more on people than bureaucracy.
“We seek a United Nations that regains the trust of people from around the world,” the president said in his tightly scripted five-minute address. “In order to achieve this, the UN must hold every level of management accountable, protect whistle-blowers and focus on results rather than on process.”
“We encourage all member states to look at ways to take bold stands at the United Nations with an eye toward changing business as usual and not being beholden to ways of the past, which were not working,” he said, pledging the US would be a full partner in the reform efforts.
Trump, who will address the General Assembly on Tuesday, also said none of the 193 member nations should shoulder a “disproportionate share of the burden — militarily or financially.”
And he called for creating “clearly defined goals and metrics for evaluating the success” of the UN’s peacekeeping mission around the globe.
Joining her father at UNGA, the first daughter and senior adviser to the President will privately attend meetings of her own
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Trump is expected to attend meetings with Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, International Committee for the Red Cross president Peter Maurer, and Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, and have coffee with Queen Mxima of the Netherlands.
Each meeting pertains to topics within Trump's West Wing portfolio, which includes work on paid family leave, a childcare tax credit, workforce development, ending human trafficking and promoting education for science technology, engineering and math, among other initiatives.
Foreign Minister Swaraj requested the meeting with Trump ahead of her upcoming travel to India. She will lead the US delegation to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in November. The two are expected to discuss the US and India's shared interests in entrepreneurship, particularly as it pertains to women's participation, workforce development and skills training.
Women's economic empowerment is also on the agenda for her meetings with Maurer and Foreign Minister Bishop.
