President Trump Poised to Set Record for Appeals Court Judges

Senate Republicans are set to confirm three more of President Donald Trump’s appeals court picks this week, a push that will help set a record for the most such appointments in a president’s first year in office.

The Senate is expected to confirm Steve Grasz for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit, and James Ho and Don Willett for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, over the objections of Democrats who question whether they can be unbiased.

That would mean at least a dozen Trump appointees would join the nation’s appeals courts — which have the last word in all but the 100 or so cases that the Supreme Court decides each year — in his first year in the White House. That comes in a year the Senate also confirmed Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch in April.

Compare that to Barack Obama, who successfully appointed three appeals court judges in his first year in office in 2009

“Each of these nominees will make strong additions to the federal bench and I look forward to considering them in the coming days,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on the Senate floor Monday.

ICE Arrests 800 MS-13 Gang Members in FY2017

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents arrested nearly 800 members of the hyper-violent transnational MS-13 gang in operations carried out across the U.S. in Fiscal Year 2017.

The arrests came as part of an emphasis from the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security that resulted in the arrest of nearly 5,000 total gang members. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials reported the arrest of 4,818 criminal gang members including 796 MS-13 gang members and affiliates during FY2017.

The gang members were arrested for “a myriad of criminal activity, including murder, extortion, narcotics and weapons trafficking, human smuggling/trafficking and prostitution and other crimes with a nexus to the border,” officials stated.

ICE officials carried out multiple operations targeting dangerous street gangs. One of those, Operation Community Shield, began more than 10 years ago. In 2017, HSI agents conducted a six-week roundup of criminal illegal immigrants. The operation that ended in May led to the arrests of 1,378 gang members. Of those, 1,098 were arrested on state/federal criminal charges including 21 for murder and seven for rape and sexual assault. An additional 280 were arrested for immigration violations.

The Federal Communications Commission voted Thursday to repeal net neutrality rules, over the objection of Democrats in Congress, Internet activists and online companies.

FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, Commissioner Michael O’Rielly, and Commissioner Brendan Carr, all Republicans, supported the proposed rollback of the Obama-era rules.

President Trump To Remove Climate Change From List Of National Security Threats

The Trump administration will reverse course from previous Obama administration policy, eliminating climate change from a list of national security threats. The National Security Strategy to be released on Monday will emphasize the importance of balancing energy security with economic development and environmental protection, according to a source who has seen the document and shared excerpts of a late draft.

“Climate policies will continue to shape the global energy system,” a draft of the National Security Strategy slated to be released on Monday said. “U.S. leadership is indispensable to countering an anti-growth, energy agenda that is detrimental to U.S. economic and energy security interests. Given future global energy demand, much of the developing world will require fossil fuels, as well as other forms of energy, to power their economies and lift their people out of poverty.”

Trump's term is so short and time is fleeting, I'd like to post a quick update to the Winning List.

Things are going so well, I never anticipated Trump being this successful.

Trump just set a record at 32% approval rating. That's an all-time low, which puts Trump #1 on the list. That is awesome. Trump knocked it out of the park!

On top of that, Trump's support has nosedived steadily the past few months in Fox News polls. It must be because of the great job that he's doing. That's winning, lot's of consistancy in those Fox News approval polls. The fact he's been able to turn Fox News viewership against him is huge! Not sure any President has been able to hit numbers like that with his own base. Awesome job by Trump and his cabinet.

If that wasn't enough, Jared Kushner may be served FBI papers as early as next week. That's great! The FBI think so highly of Kushner they want to press charges against him and bring him into the spotlight. If that's not winning I don't know what is.

Thank God Donald J. Trump brought back Christmas. For eight years Christians have been cowering in basements under Obama's Sharia law. It was high time to end that. Another huge achievement, thank you President Trump.

Didn't strike any nerves. I was on the couch with my family when an alert popped up on my phone: "Resident Board Dipshit Communist has replied to your thread" so I swiped and read...realized it was the same hateful blather and threw out that reply.

You should feel honored that I replied at all to that horseshit (as I know you love my posts and actually learn from them). There wasn't a point of merit in your post.

You'll notice I reply to little of the angry, biased, hate filled diatribe you leave here any more because it's mostly rarely conversation-worthy any more. It's just Tibsie banging his lil' drum.
