Flores has improved the defense at each spot he's been HC or DC. In Minnesota, he's recognized as one of the best DC's in the league as they've had one of the best defenses the past two seasons.
His defense helped Minnesota finished with a 9-8 record despite poor QB play. We saw similar results in Miami where subpar offenses with a lack of weapons and mediocre QB play (Fitzpatrick/Tua) led to 5-11, 10-6, and 9-8 finishes with no playoff appearances.
Over three years as head coach, his draft picks have played in a combined 3 Pro Bowls. Flores was the coach that traded Minkah Fitzpatrick.
My concern with Flores is that he's the tough guy version of what we've already had. He's who's proven he can have his defense carry a bad offense to a near .500 record and be a borderline playoff team. He's also shown to be a coach who has not elevated an offense.
Do I think Flores could come in and keep the Steelers non-losing streak going? Yes. Is he going to be a coach that modernizes the offense and the overall philosophical approach of the team? Eh, not sure about that.
