The forgotten Steelers

Watching highlights like that, just shows you how slow the game used to be.

That is very true and that was also a good highlight reel for Abercrombie.

Eric Green. Biggest guy on the sideline. Made Lloyd look small.

They still weren't the "forgotten" ones no matter how you try to spin it. So Ike was spot on. But by all means continue on with your drivel.

Thanks for adding more pollution to the board. You're so good at it.

Are you OK? Press 1 for yes, 2 for no.

Well there is still the rearview mirror. Or the chrome tailpipe. Where there is a will there is a way.

Dick Hoak but he's NOT from the 80's.

My dad's favorite player was Elbie Nickel.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elbie_Nickel

Elbert Everett "Elbie" Nickel (December 28, 1922 – February 27, 2007) was a professional American football tight end in the National Football League. He played eleven seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers (1947–1957).
Generally considered one of the best tight ends in Steelers' history, Nickel recorded 329 career receptions as a tight end and is now second in career receptions by a Steelers' tight end behind Heath Miller (490). In conjunction with the 2007 celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Steelers, Nickel was selected as one of 33 players on the Pittsburgh Steelers All-Time Team.

Ron, earlier today I was looking through some of the OLD rosters of the STEELERS and I noticed his name as well. Wished I could have seen him play.

NT Joel Steed. He was the beast in the middle before Big Snack.

This! Steed was incredibly efficient and durable. Plus, was a part of many CU Buff pieces the Steelers drafted in the early to mid 90's.

How very colorful. Thank you,

John Jackson had to be one of the most underrated LTs of all time.

He and Dermontti Dawson were the cornerstones of great Steelers offensive line play for around a decade and the guy never made a Probowl, as far as I know.

Nope never. But was a solid T I agree...................

I remember when we lost him in FA to SD in 1998, IIRC. It seemed like a loss it took a long time to recover from. I think we signed Will Wolford, who was decent, but the OL
seemed to take a step backwards.

Wolford played LG for the last couple years that Jackson was with the Steelers.

I think they tried to move Wolford to LT to replace Jackson, but he got injured either in training camp/preseason or early in the season.

They eventually stabilized the position by signing Wayne Gandy, who was another underrated/forgotten Steeler.
