Super bowl picks

Stage will be too big for Newton who still can't read defenses, 3 picks later and Manning rides out a Super Bowl winner.

The Broncos will not self destruct and the Panthers ONline will not have an easy time with Von Miller who may just destroy their offense just like he did against the Pats.

Broncos 24
Panthers 13

The Panthers o-line will hold their own, they won't get dominated the way NE did.

If Manning didn't have a noodle arm, this would be an easy Denver win, but he does. His arm did look better the last few weeks so maybe the time off and mild weather has helped.

lol, seriously tape?? "easy"?

this would be a challenge for peyton if it were 2005, I wholeheartedly believe that.

Its simple. Carolina has a talented bunch but they play better at home. The stage is going to be too much for Carolina in this one. It will take a good quarter and half for them to settle in.

Keep in mind that in Carolina's last 3 road games, they have loss one and had two 3-point wins against mediocre teams. Denver defense is great and IMO better than Carolina's D.

This is the battle of the QBs: I think Superman's (Newton) kryptonite will be his own ego and Clark Kent (Manning) will be a little more careful and efficient in this one. Cam loses due to inner ego trying to go deep on several occasions. Look for Denver D to come up with a few INTs and none more greater than the big PICK 6 in the 4th quarter to seal the victory for Denver.

Carolina scores late to make it respectable but Denver wins 23-21.

Yes, I think Denver with a good QB blows out this Panther team. Denver has too many weapons with Thomas and Sanders and Norwood has become a good slot guy.

I think the healthy Steelers would beat Carolina easy. Carolina is tough and physical but if you can spread them out with multiple weapons, you can make plays on them.

The only thing holding back the Denver offense is that Peyton can't make a lot of the vertical plays so defenses can cheat a bit.

I just don't think Carolina is a special team. They are good. They play hard and physical and that is the key to their success. In today's neutered NFL where teams don't practice in pads , Carolina is tough to stop.

Denver has been physical and they have really had to fight to win games this year. They also have to think this could be it for their Super Bowl window with Peyton retiring and maybe not being able to keep all their players together. Denver will play with desperation as they have the last few weeks.

I know most peoples football goggles say Carolina. However, a few things are making me say "not so fast" my friend....

1. The bye week. This gives the old man a week of rest and we know no one does the mental prep like Manning. In addition I think this hurt the Panthers. I know you will say the buy didnt hurt them in the wild card round. Consider though in the finale against the Bucs they didn't play that well, sure they won, but it was not a lights out affair. This may have redirected their focus before the playoffs, and we all know that the home field advantage served them well, they wont have that this week.

2. Last dance for Manning. Look you dont need to be a rocket surgeon or brain scientist to know this is Mannings last game. (I wonder if there is a prop bet for that) This guy has the respect of the entire league. His boys are going to be playing for him, which may be an effective motivating factor.

3. Big game Cam....I know 18 gets a lot of heat for big game disappointments, However a few of his big games, Iron Bowl v Bama and NCAA title game, he got off to slow starts in both of those games. Yes, he did win both of those games, but a slow start in the Super Bowl we have seen over the last quarter century can just make a game get ugly. Couple this in with a good defense and Cam trying to force one, it could give Denver an early jump.

On the other side of the coin,

a. Cam is the guy who has the greater ability to make something happen if all else on the play goes wrong and it can come from anywhere on the field.
b. Carolina's defense is not prone to making mistakes, and Denver scoring wont happen quickly, they will have to put together long drives.

In the end I will guess.....

Carolina 26
Denver 20

Denver D is definitely solid but I don"t see them being able to slow down Carolina as much as they would need.

Car - 30
Den - 20
.

Disagree with all that. Panthers win

What I think:

Carolina 27
Denver 16

What I hope for

Denver 30 in over time.
Carolina 27

35-17 Panthers. If Denver can't run which I don't think they can they are in trouble. Carolina's D-line vs Denver's OL is where this game will be determined.

I've got Carolina +20. They're 17-1 for a reason. Denver has the "#1 defense" but they have been exposed. Carolina is going to hit Manning and he's going to make mistakes.

This game may be a worse blowout than the Denver Seattle game...

Denver will need to stack against the run like they did against us in the first game. We'll see if Cam is as good as Ben was. I'd say no but close enough. 24-14 Panthers.

I'm rooting for Denver, but I think Carolina will win.

Broncos - 27
Panthers - 24

I would like Denver's chances a lot more if Osweiller were playing, Noodle arm is going to cost the Broncos this game.
