For ***** and giggles what do you say if we pull a Ditka and make a trade to get Trever Lawrence as the replacement for Ben?

Cope gets drunk. You've been sniffing glue.

I don't follow college ball because it ******* sucks. But if he's the generational talent he's touted as, why would anyone say no to that? Ben's only got a few more years in him, max. Holding on to assets to go back to being a middling, playoff-less team without a franchise QB is akin to mortgaging the future. If we somehow have a shot at "replacing Favre with Rodgers," ******* do it.

It didn't work out so well for NO when Ditka did that. It set that team back 5 years.

As for the STEELERS doing that, not a prayer in HELL that it would happen. Lawrence isn't that great to merit an entire draft trade for one player, generational or NOT. Didn't we use to have two of those "GENERATIONAL" players ? Where did that take us again?

I think you're confused. We've never had multiple generational QBs on our team at once. I shouldn't have to explain to anyone here how the only two periods of success this team has had were with Terry and Ben.

I hear yaz but ALSO don't think I should have to explain that to be a generational talent in the NFL wouldn't you need to play a down or two ?? Again, Lawrence is good but NOT an entire draft good.

You contradicted yourself here. You can't say whether he's an entire draft good until he plays.

The entire point is, if you think he's a once-a-decade player and you have the means of acquiring him, you do it.

ZACH, nit picking, as you can't say he is until he has played either, **** it, you get the point. I don't think he is an entire draft give up good, plain and simply put. Go back and read my post.

Lawrence is a once in a decade type of talent, He'd be the first pick in ANY draft. Just few #1 overall picks

  • 2020: Joe Burrow.
  • 2019: Kyler Murray.
  • 2018: Baker Mayfield.
  • 2017: Myles Garrett.
  • 2016: Jared Goff.
  • 2015: Jameis Winston.
  • 2014: Jadeveon Clowney.
  • 2013: Eric Fisher.
Lawerence is best deep passer I've even seen. He's tall, mobile, can take a hit, plays smart, has an A plus arm, is mature for his age, you name it.

I'd trade our entire draft for him, then trade Ben for market value ( getting some picks back ) , and save about 30 million in cap space. Not even the Jets are that stupid.

You’ve just proven why you are the way are.

YOU would trade your entire draft for Lawrence, but “Not even the jets are that STUPID”. So basically you are calling yourself stupid.

no player is worth an entire draft. NO PLAYER

Totally agree Coolie, Hershel Walker is another example, Minnesota didn't trade entire draft but did trade a full load of picks/players. At least Hershal had some game experience though.

I mean I wouldn’t go so far to say no player is worth trading an entire draft for, but it’s definitely a stupid risky idea for sure... the failure rate of first rounders is like what, just under 50% over the past couple decades? So you trade 7 potential players for a 50/50 shot that a guys college production translates to the much more technical and faster pro game? Thats a big bet...

If you were super deep at every position going in and had zero holes except where the guy you want plays at, then i guess you could take the uber gamble, but honestly id rather just trade for picks the next year... you can trade a second for next years first from some team and a third for a second And basically double your assets And potentially seriously upgrade if you were drafting very low... thats a better gamble than putting it all on one guy... just like the hot takes on burrow last year... doesn’t matter if he is great... he has to hold up to the nfl... that kids career may well be over already...

Then he would just ship out Ben, despite him being the only reason we've been relevant the last 17 years...

You'd rather go through another decade like '80s again without a QB just to make 7 picks that might not pan out either? Like I said, I don't watch college ball, but most people are convinced that Lawrence is the surest "sure thing" in ages. If Colbert agrees and has a legitimate chance to trade up for him, he'd be stupid not to. Even if he busts and it sets us back, is that really so bad considering we're already in for a lot of hurt post-Ben? What is a good draft going to do for us if we don't have a QB? Get us closer to 8-8?
