Steelers vs Ravens prediction thread

I'm back...

We've discussed it all week - unlike the naysayers, I believe this team is built, now, to stop mobile QB's from annihilating us. We have speed on the interior and 3 quality DB's to keep the Ravens WR's in check. With my Bama at FS - I don't think we're going to have any big plays over the top and Lamar might call himself Tito Jackson after this game - has been...

I don’t think Ravens defense as good as in past seasons and Earl Thomas not nearly the player he once was.
I think Mason gets more comfortable each week and if Vance plays with Nick V. That’s going to help big time.

Steelers 24
Ravens. 17

I agree with the comments about the defense and Fitz is huge step up from Davis. Suddenly 3 of our starting 4 DB’s can make splash plays.

The 1st and 2nd round picks spent on Burns and Davis, two picks I was not on board with are now distant memories.

Ah, to reflect on hindsight...

We can all agree that Minkah is better than Davis, but let's not be so hasty to throw Sean Davis on the trash heap---his injury (and Ben's) forced the Steelers to make an uncharacteristic move and we're seeing the fruits of labor.

I don't know what we can get back from Davis since he's an UFA in the off-season; but we must thank him for his services whilst here...

Lamar Jackson on the Steelers-Ravens rivalry: “Physical, everyone after each other. I just can’t wait to perform in it. They play that little song (Renegade), they wave their little flags and stuff, with the little towels around. It was pretty dope. I enjoyed it.”

Sounds like fighting words to me. I hope we bash your little head in, Lamar.

Deep thoughts for this weekend....lol

Dave Dameshek -- The Steelers are named after the mid-century heroes who forged the steel that built the tanks & ships used to defeat the Nazi scourge. The Ravens are named after a poem written by a Boston native who married his 13-yr-old cousin, moved to Baltimore, got drunk & died.

Steelers were founded in 1933 as the Pirates. They were renamed the Steelers in in 1940. The US entered WWII in 1941. Dave D. is a dimwit, but A for effort.

Btw, interesting blurb, from steelers depot. Hope Fichtner takes note.

Oh great, that means we're coming out with non stop bubble screens to "catch then off guard".

This one is tough to predict because both teams have looked good and terrible this season so which one shows up sunday is anyone's guess.

This game comes down to Durpee being able to contain Lamar on the edge and if we're strong enough in the middle to stop Ingram. We should be able to score against the D if they let Mason take shots down field which is their weakness.

I think it's close but give us the edge at home...23-18

I see no way our offense hangs on to possession long enough to keep Lamar off the field and this will be ugly.
Ravens 36, Steelers 10

Hope I’m Wrong!!

I am not going to say the rats are a juggernaut but they aren't a ****** team. They will win games. And after the ****** start this team had this week will be a better gauge on the state of the overall team. On which direction this team is going this year, this season.

Davis has likely played his last down as a steeler. I hope he goes for big money in free agency, I'll takeout comp pick. I suspect he won't get a big contract. Bad second round pick. The Steelers could have done much better. Gone are his stupid flags, missed tackles ( he lead the team twice in this department, correct ) and limited ball skills.

You can thank him him. Most won't remember his jersey number in a year, either one of them!

As much as I'd like to feel good moving forward after a win over the bengals, I'm just not. The trickery isn't going to work so well, even if it's in the game plan.
I don't see the Steelers winning many games this year, but I would feel better if they let Mason run some play-action, throw the ball downfield, dump it off to a running back as a checkdown instead of the first option... you know, practice some actual QB stuff. Make him better for the future. Get Washington, Diontae and Juju involved. Throw to the TE a few times.
I just don't see much running room for Conner or Samuels, and I don't see having much time to throw.
I know John Harbaugh is susceptible to a bonehead game... he's no Tomlin, of course (who is?), but he can make some stupid decisions. Our division might be the worst in the league. There IS hope, but...

Ravens, 27-16

I hope they prove me wrong.

A Nailbiter....Justin Tucker ties the score with 1:46 left from 55 yards. Boz kicks a 46 yard field goal that hits the upright & trickles through the goal post as time expires

Just heard DT Brandon Williams is active after being out the first four games of the year. He's crucial to the Ravens stopping the run, so get your hard hats on today boys. It's going to be tough sledding toting the rock.

impossible to predict because we still don't know what the steeler offense will look like. We also aren't sure about the defense yet. Bengals OL was so bad that the steeler pass rush just blew everything up. The ravens OL is good enough that won't happen.

Ravens use tons of play fakes and i'm still not sold that this steeler defense won't keep blowing assignments and giving up easy passing plays, which is pretty much the only kind of pass plays Jackson hits.

To beat the ravens defense, you have to make plays downfield vs a secondary that is having problems. Can Rudolph do that?

I think they are still weaker at ILBer than last year. But you are right running might still be difficult. But passing short to RBs should still be effective. And Rudolph seems to like TEs so having McDonald should be a plus as well.
