After going undrafted in 2015, Watson spent his rookie season with the Bengals before spending parts of the 2016 season with the Browns and Broncos. He has nine career carries for 28 yards and one touchdown after rushing for nearly 6,000 yards and 79 touchdowns for Azusa Pacific.

Watson might have taken the most unique route to the NFL. As a child, Watson was left on the doorsteps of his 'parents', Billy and Janice, in a basket by Billy's daughter from another relationship. The future running back was adopted in to the family and his journey began there.

It was later learned that Watson had a learning disability. He struggled to sound or read words.

“I mean, I feel like everything I went through in school has made me the person I am today in football,” he says. “You don’t let adversity define who you are,” Watson said via The Guardian.

“It’s freaking hard when you have people say you’re this or you’re that, or you can’t read or you can’t write, or you can’t jump,” he says. “You go to make up your mind to prove them wrong. That’s my favorite thing. I remember going to high school, they were saying: ‘You can’t go to university you’re going to have to go to junior college, it’s too hard, you’re going to need too much assistance.’ So, I remember when someone said: ‘You can’t play football.’ And I proved I could.”

Welcome aboard meat

This big boy has pretty decent wheels.

Pretty remarkable video of this kid Terrell Watson. If you listen to his coaches and parents, they'll tell you he's like spiderman with a sixth sense on and off the field.

Seems like a decent prospect to add for camp. Glad to see him get a chance. This year's winner of the Isaac Redman Award...never say never

A three-year starter, Watson ripped off three-straight 1,000-yard seasons and broke almost all of Christian Okoye's school rushing records, including 2,153 rushing yards in 2014. He feasted on Division II competition, but his game film shows legit NFL talent also.
He's built well for the position with the functional power to run through arm tackles and balance to keep his feet and pick up yards after initial contact. Watson isn't a quick-twitch runner and lacks the speed to run way from NFL defenders, but he's quick-thinking and doesn't waste time, reading his blocks and anticipating daylight with his natural run instincts. He's a grinder with the competitive drive needed for the NFL and his coaches won't shut up about how good of a person he is on and off the field. Although he lacks the explosive traits to match his college production at the next level, Watson is a smart, physical inside runner with the short-area quicks to create yardage - highly intriguing sleeper.

My sense is that Watson won’t be drafted in the top 200 picks of the NFL Draft, if at all, but I think there’s a high probability he gets a long look. For starters, people as big and athletic as him are always needed on special teams. To that point, consider that he played on the defensive line during his freshman year at Azusa, indicating his willingness to contribute however he can. Also, after reading through various articles, guys like Christian Okoye, Mike Martz, and Jackie Slater all have very high praise for Watson and think he’s got what it takes to be in the NFL.Now, all he needs is a chance. Stay tuned.

Could make the team and his story makes for nice character on a GREAT team.

Salute the nation

Probably would only have to beat out Croissant.........

If that is the case, I see that happening. Croissant's experience isn't enough to fend off Watson's ability.

Touissant has incriminating pics of coach Mikey T, it's the only thing that explains how he remains on the roster as long as he has.

He will. Croissant is toast.

well you really don't toast it you can put butter in it, maybe jelly

perhaps even some turkey or sandwich meats.

Gotta like the stable of backs we now have.

Don't know if Watson will end up on the 53, but I loved this kid when we picked him up. Looked pretty good thus far tonight

I was looking forward to seeing this kid. He killed it.

I think he was the Steelers best option at RB preseason game 1, not that Davis didn't show capable and Croissant was his usual hot and cold self.

I would love to see him get some first team reps.

I missed the 'hot' part of Fitz's performance, I'll have to go back and watch it again.

He had a 11 yard run and Watson led with a 15 yard TD.

Yard per carry favored Watson but Fitz ran against better competition. Not that I still didn't prefer Watson's play over him.

Rooting for Watson, never was a fan of Toussaint. Knile Davis never impressed me either. Conner has shown nothing as of yet, maybe Watson isn't as much of a long shot after all? We need a guy who can get the tough 1 and 2 yard runs consistently. Like good old isaac Redman! Never going to be a stud fantasy RB but Redman was the short yardage King.
