Steelers select Dri Archer in Round 3

The difference is if Archer is able to do some of things he is doing in practice in games, if he is able to become a player for us TMC will say I was wrong on this one guys. Others will never. Thats if he comes back at all.

His coaches and team are saying he is a player, will be interesting to see him in games and hear how he does against the Bills in those joint practices next week.

For the record if he doesnt pan out I will say my bad I also I had it wrong.

idk He says he admits when he is wrong but when we disagree about a prospect I will throw out his evaluation on JJ Watt, Lee Suggs, Dave Ragone ect... and he never says anything like he was wrong. Hell, I am wrong all the time but don't claim to be an expert. I consider myself a knowledgeable fan.

TMC's admitted to being wrong on more than a handful of times.
some of these other prognosticators, however...

I don't remember who I had in mind at that point (probably Bryant), but I doubt I would have taken Archer (or any RB) at that position. I didn't go back and look at who was available to see who I would have taken instead. It wouldn't have been a RB or QB, for sure.

With Ellington and Ellis on the board, probably one of those. I don't remember anything about them, but any of the next 4-5 CB's picked, if not Ellington or Ellis.

I didn't like the pick at the time. It sounds like he is having a good camp. Wish him, Colbert and Tomlin all the best. I think he will have a high early upside and will help earlier than most third rounders. Long term, who knows. Looks like the rest of the upper end of the draft is doing well. Hope it was a great draft. No point dwelling.

I didn't see it when it happened, and my buddy said the next morning at breakfast "we took a rb". I was like, nah, you mean a wr? Or maybe a rb we plan to covert to return/wr guy, cause I can't imagine us taking a rb with Blount and Bell back there. I get home, look the guy up, and am like WTF, rb? Then I watched some of the tape on him and was like, oh, ok, we're going for a slash type player, not so much with the passing, but with the wr/rb, and my mind went to sproles. Eh, let's see how this works out.

That was it, that honestly was the extent of my thoughts on the matter. I simply can not imagine being as annoyed as some of you get over a 3rd round, 97th pick of a draft, especially when the guy HADN'T EVEN stepped on the ******* practice field yet. And yet some of you ******* will sit here and tell me you're not predicting the future.

If no one can discuss their thoughts on a player because they have not stepped onto the practice field yet, then we can not discuss any draft pick. How boring.

Yeah, but this goes well beyond expressing thoughts. People make their predictions, including probably me around page 8 or 10 and then just let it see how it plays out. I'm very critical of Colbert and Tomlin's drafts, but from what I'm hearing at camp this year we have two first round defenders and this guy who sounds like he is flying around and has survived full contact drills. Now he is a long ways from being a good draft pick, but lets just wait and see a bit.

97th pick of the draft. 3rd rounder. 2531 pages. I should say we've discussed just about every angle we can, no?

Easy to throw pokes at a guy who isn't here to clarify.

Anywho... he is gone and I doubt he will ever return.

Regardless if you liked every action/response the man took, his insight will be missed by many...............

Totally agree, it sucks TMC decided to split. He was a cream of the crop football poster around here, will be sorely missed.

I think it was a ***** move him leaving. Like I said earlier in the thread, it is OK to question the professional decision makers of the Steelers, but the make believe decision makers, hell, they are above reproach. If you are going to put yourself out there like TMC did, you have to expect people coming at you. I never did, as I do not watch enough college football to know who or who should not be taken where. The only real disagreement I had with him was toward last, when he insisted they should have lost the last 3 games. That is just some bullshit there.

One true fact of life is that nobody is irreplaceable. Somebody will fill the void.

After thinking about it, I'm sure I would not have taken Ellis. I thought he would be available later in the 4th.

I always enjoyed TMC insight fullness. He will be missed for sure, but as said, others will take that place. Reading many post(s) here, there are many with great insight. Deciphering, is another story.

I'm not a draft guru, so I leave that to others. I like to hear what the word is on possible picks etc.. The only real negative on Archer, is his size. Injury prone, isn't prominent other than its football.

Salute the nation

I saw TMC post on another thread here a couple of weeks ago......I'd guess that he is going to await some preseason games to play out and then consider contributing some analysis again. Maybe not though since some here are calling him a ***** for taking a break. Life is too short to contribute skills to a group where the response is highly negative and crosses the line to "meanness.". Maybe some of us here just cannot take the football analysis competition. I was excited about the Archer pick, but also wondered if we were becoming the Raiders and blowing a 3rd round pick on some flash when we were seriously hurting on defense and OL. I bought his draft guide a couple of years ago and his analysis proved to be beyond great when I checked his evaluations against what rookies contributed for all teams that season.

Tibs gave the abbreviated, condensed version.

The paper that shall not be named has an article today on Sir Archer if anyone is interested. Written by the writer that shall not be named.

Wish he would come back. I think the board has a mute or block feature so he doesn't have to deal with those who think they are holier than god on this site because they put in hours of time before the draft and the Steelers didn't take their guy. **** those guys, don't think anyone cares about the holier than thou posters around here.

I just wanna see this kid in live NFL action....and see if he can electrify this team offensively. I mean, hes already proven (in practice) that he can outrun NFL caliber pursuit.

I've been told that the ignore feature is useless (not by TMC) because if someone quotes your ignored person, you can still see what they posted. OMG THE HORROR!!

Apparently, there is no ability to just not read (or even reply to) something someone posted. Weird, because I do it all the time.

Sucks! Last week I looked and Steelers would be playing live on NFL network in my area but now have been pushed back to the middle of the morning so I will have to TiVo it and watch it the next day!

I don't understand all the whining about people leaving. If someone chooses to leave the board, **** 'em. I hope the door doesn't hit ya in the ***. People get way too serious and never develop the thick skin needed to survive on this board.

TMC was here since the beginning. . And nobody is WANTING Bleeder or Steelerfan's take on players, evaluations,, or opinion. If you or I leave nobody would give a ****.. Theres a reason its being talked about.
