Steelers met with WR Switzer at the senior bowl

Note the lazy "white guy" comparison with Edelman. I've seen him on better sites compared with Randall Cobb.

If they do take a WR, he needs to be on the tall side (over 6' minimum), decent speed but with good hands. I don't want another WR that is labeled with shaky hands in college. Coates was and Bryant was. And, even Bryant dropped some easy catches last year.

Gerry Dulac claims they will take a WR and RB in the first three rounds with an OLB

Oh really???

I want Corey Davis out of W Michigan but he wont last past the 1st. Williams at Clemson wont last either. Realistically....Malachi Dupre from LSU -- 6'3 195 4.55 fights for the ball, tracks the ball well in its flight, great leaping ability, great snagging the ball over his outside shoulder. Round 2 to 3 potential.

That seems to indicate a lack of confidence in Bryant and the depth behind him. That sucks. It would be awesome to hear or even infer that the Steeler coaches/FO were encouraged by Bryant's "changed lifestyle" or whatever....and that hasn't yet happened....

I'm a Heels fan and don't want the Steelers taking Switzer.
Don't get me wrong. I love the kid's abilities. He's a better version of Danny Amendola when he was healthy.
We just already have too many short WR's.

Chris Godwin of Penn State could be available in rd 3 depending on hiw he runs at the combine. I'm thinking he will run about 4.55 which would make him a 2nd or 3rd rounder. Godwin is not a burner but he's big and physical and is great at contested catches. He could be an Anquan Bolden type.

steelers have plenty of speed at WR. They could use a physical WR

They haven't had any contact with him since March. They're in a wait and see mode, just like Tomlin said.

They are both needs for us, however we also need depth a DL, CB, TE (yeah we need depth there) and we may need to draft a QB. Its possible we could grab an early round WR, but I would see OLB coming off the board first for us given that is the biggest weakness on the team.

I don't see them taking a QB. This class is especially weak. Besides they're going to bring back Landry. I'd say our DL depth is alright if they resign Mathews. We're not going to carry more then Cam, Tuitt, McCullers, Mathews, Hargrave, and Walton.

Physical WR that can catch the ball. No more butter fingers! DHB, Coates and Bryant (as good as he is) are enough to drive all of us crazy wondering if they will catch a wide open pass.

Bryant needs to come down to earth before he hits the ground running routes and catching passes

I, for one, am not panicking...

Current WRs on the roster:

1. AB
2. Bryant
3. Wheaton
4. Eli Rogers
5. DHB
6. Cobi Hamilton
7. Ayers

If Wheaton/DHB don't come back we still only need 1 - and this is a WR heavy draft...

This offense is based on 3 WRs. Right now AB is the only reliable target.

1. AB
2. Bryant - another failed test away from finished
3. Rogers - decent slot guy with some upside

Now it's sketchy
4 Coates - how much can you rely on him? You can't draft as if Coates is the future.
5 DHB - just a guy as a WR
6 Cobi Hamilton - DHB but slower
7 Ayers - maybe can be a good slot WR and special teamer

They absolutely need a reliable WR who can be counted on to start in case of injury because none of the non starters have proven they are the answer.

TE also plays into this. If they can land a good receiving TE then it can lessen the need for a WR because they'd use that TE like a WR as they planned to do with Green.

i will not be surprised at all if the steelers grab a TE or WR in any of the first 3 rounds. Edge rusher is deep in this draft. If the steelers have the choice between a WR or a TE that they have as a 1st round talent or an edge rusher that they see as a 3rd rounder, they will take the TE or WR or both.

i'm thinking they will try to sign a veteran WR before the draft

Chris Godwin is exactly what we need at the WR position and he should be available at a bargain. I've been saying he reminds me of Boldin for years - glad someone else made that connection as well. He catches everything thrown in his zip code and will outmuscle most DBs

Had to look this kid up and couldn't help but laugh at how small he is, but he is definitely fun to watch. The run at the 2:40 mark of this video was pretty cool.

Love me some Ryan Switzer, dude is a straight baller and often made Trubisky look good.

Julian Edelman 2.0.

He kinda reminds me of Hines. Tough, possession receiver. Ben needs one of those

dang, i saw the name and hoped it was barry switzer coming in to head coach

White receiver?

Patriots. It's a league rule.

small school and he is coming off injury...stranger things have happened...

but unless that value is a tier above a OLBer or CB I doubt we see that position picked in 1.
