Actually, the fact that you can't understand the Steelers would only even consider that scenario in case of an injury to Thornhill is laughable. I put it out there as a possibility, since you seem to have already convinced yourself that Thornhill is automatically going to be unable to play despite starting 22 games over the last two seasons.

In case of injury wasn't the scenario that was presented, and is something COMPLETELY different. The fact that Thornhill started 22 games over the last two seasons, doesn't negate the fact that he also missed 12 games the past two seasons. That is the reason that he was even available. IF he can stay healthy, GREAT... but the two years in a row, missing six games EACH season, and for the SAME injury is a major cause for concern. And if Ramsey is the only plan at the back-up FS spot, God help us all... because a 34 yr old Slay is certainly going to play all 17 games and every defensive snap without worry right?
But by all means, present a scenario that didn't exist in my argument against moving the CB we just traded for and are about to pay $26,000,000 this year to FS where we just shipped out an ACTUAL FS that was set to make $23,000,000 because he wasn't making enough splash plays playing 25 yards off the LOS.
Yeah Cowher was 7-8 in the postseason, with 4 AFCCG appearances and a Super Bowl without a franchise QB, but since Tomlin doesn't have a franchise QB he doesn't have to be competitive.

I don't think it's coincidence that when Minkah came in and didn't know the D he played lights out. I feel like he has become Tomlinized and just started going through the motions. I would not be happy either if we use 2 DL and would have to constantly tackle RBs speeding at me. Coverages are tough to sort out blame, but there seems to be an issue across the board when passing off players between zones. I think the scheme is just too vanilla and passive which leads large gaps due to not wanting players to get behind you. Troy drove LeBeau crazy because he would go off-script, but his instincts were so good. He also had the perfect partner with Clark. I feel that Tomlin wouldn't have let Troy be Troy and we would be talking about Troy being a bust. My main issue is Tomlin doesn't see anything wrong with his schemes and doesn't try to adjust he just tries a different player and expects different results.

Just like it's not a coincidence that when Tomlin came in as a young HC, he had a HOF DC and a very good OC and he was forced to let them do their thing and we were one of the best teams in the NFL. Then as he became established and took over more and more control things started going south.
Same thing with Wilson last season, slinging it all over the field vs Cincy putting up 400+yards, but that's not Tomlin's way, he didn't like that and put a stop to that kind of offense (today's NFL offense), the final game at home vs Cincy, Wilson had something like only 9 passing attempt going into the 4th qtr, and we were trailing the entire game. It HAS to be Tomlin's way. That's why Minkah wasn't allowed to play like he did his first year here, it's not Tomlin's way.
That's why I made the post about Cowher being on Ben's podcast, Cowher talked alot about trying to reign Ben in, but not totally reigning him in, let him do what made him great, and make that fit into what you want to do.

Tomlin is a toddler who ate his PB&J and felt the need to leave his sticky prints all over everything instead of what a true leader does, surround himself with talent, set the direction and culture, and let them do what they do.
Doug Whaley was just on the fan in Pittsburgh, former GM, college player, scout, etc. They asked him what he saw that caused Minkah's decline in play, he flat our said the way he was used, the first couple seasons he was up near the box allowed to ball hunt and make plays, and for whatever reason the past couple seasons he's been asked to be the last line of defense.
I have always believed that regardless of the level of coaching, players have to overcome coaching sometimes. Coaches aren't out there playing, but they gotta exert their control, without a real feel for the game. With Tomlin, these players have to overcome more. It's complicated. Haha. I drank so much of those hazy IPAs I can't anymore. So IPAs, Pale, Lagers and Pilz are great, as long as no haze.
I got a case of the flu a year or so ago after drinking stouts in the afternoon. "Enjoying" them twice put me off stouts for a bit.
I'm drinking a nice pilsner from a brewery in Williamsport right now...New Trail. I don't know if you get any of there stuff down there. Lazy River Pils. Lord Chesterfield from Yuengling is a regular. How about you?

Tomlin is getting rid of the people he doesnt like on his way out. Kind of a “last laugh” sort of thing. He loves Rodgers and brought him in for their last ride.

Yeah this is 100% correct. The second Cincy game was just insane. It wasn't a fluke Wilson threw all over them. Both Pickett and Mason had good games passing against them. The first half i believe we literally attempted one pass on first or second down. I just do not get it.
People are acting like we are getting a prime Ramsey. He seems to be more of a man corner and we play mostly zone. I would have changed Minkahs role and give the young corners a shot.

New Trail is my favorite brewery at the moment. I just run out of their "Rained Out" IPA, that was phenomenal. Planning to visit the brewery in the next few weeks after me and the boy do some fly fishing on Pine Creek. just waiting for this damn rain to stop so the streams clear up a bit and slow the hell down.
They were talking about the Cincy games this morning, the first Cincy game is where Wilson supposedly went against what was called and was changing things at the LOS and Tomlin/and or Smith did not like it, that's where the rift between Wilson and Smith happened.
