I think one of our trolls has an emergency backup account, just in case the band hammer comes down.
I will give you one hint who it is.

What year? Was there many times in early 2000’s every year got less and less cause the mayor had to tell fans not to sell tix to us
I remember my first Sunday night game there the whole upper deck was nothing but terrible towels flying.
Of course tailgate lot was 99 percent black and gold

I will continue to say the home fan experience has gotten worse because of the schedule. Pittsburgh fans are tired of having so many night games at home and the attendance numbers strongly reflect that. Beyond that, it definitely isn't the same as far as crowd participation and people leaving early. Too many people go for the social event rather than to root for the team and the games are ridiculously long now (can't we get an NFL game over within 3 hours anymore?). I also don't think the crowd gets as hyped as it used to either because everyone has been so trained to go nuts during Renegade that they save it for the end of the game rather than bringing it for four quarters. It was better when they only used it for big moments during the season, but now it's such a part of the "fan experience" that they play it at every game, needed or not.

I like all music but I was at one game they played black and yellow about ten times. I was counting the times at one point telling me friend, again? really? Yeah their song track need tweaking, as well as their signature songs...
The one change that I hated is when they went away from "Right Here, Right Now" and "Sirius" for when the players ran out of the tunnel and then introductions. They got me so pumped for the game. Instead they switched to "Back in Black" which adds zero energy to the pregame hype.

You hit on something. I moonlighted as a DJ in a hardrock bar in Germany when I served (87-90). And I learned you had to know what to play at different stages of the night from beginning to end.To entertain as well as to control the mood. There doesn't seem to be a good wave/setup as you mentioned as what to play pregame or in different stages of the game. You would think with such a large crowd, larger than I ever played at. They would have someone qualified in knowing how to run the music.

Yeah agreed. If they're gonna do an AC/DC song, they should play "thunderstruck". Now THAT would get the crowd good and riled up
As far as attendance, fan participation, leaving early etc. being blamed on so many night games...other fan bases get extra motivated for prime time games, not annoyed by them. We used to. Imagine how amped Browns fan will be for prime time games this season. They will go bananas.
In 2017...

If you don't count the team's season finale against the Browns, when only 50,704 fans showed up watch the Steelers backups play against an 0-15 Browns team, you can see the giant discrepancy between night and day games. In four day games -- against Minnesota, Jacksonville, Cincinnati and New England -- the Steelers averaged 66,536 fans per game. In their three night games, the team averaged just 60,973 fans.
Rooney thinks part of the problem is that 18 percent of season-ticket holders live outside of the state and thousands more have to make a drive of more than three hours to get to games. That becomes a problem for fans, because it means they're not driving home until midnight or 1 a.m. if they attend a night game.
In 2018, they averaged 64,334 in 5 day games and 61,993 in 3 night games.
In 2016, excluding the exhibition game against the one-win Browns in which Landry Jones started (55,921), the Steelers averaged 66,217 in six home afternoon games and 61,278 in one night game.

We used to when it was more of a novelty. When you have the maximum number of prime time games every year, it gets old. Here is a replay I had in another thread:
Let the Browns fans have all of the night games.Give me Sunday at 1:00 pm.
Irish heritage too?
The theory is night games have the fans a lot more loaded and enthused. True? I'd say so. And maybe that's why fans leave early: They've run out of gas and are falling out after 12+ hours of drinking.
