Its complicated
So there are a bunch of different IR designations
Regular IR in the preseason you cannot come back from unless they cut you completely, you clear waiver and then re-sign with them.
A team may designate two players to return from Preseason IR, however they automatically count towards the 8 player limit of guys a team can bring back during the season
After the initial roster is set, teams can place guys on IR and open up roster spots... these can be brought back after missing four games
Since Trice is on the DFR preseason IR, they can activate 7 others off the list all year long
So a guy like Will Howard or Donte Kent, who may or may not be needed, but they dont want to close the door completely yet, they have to be on the inotial roster for 1 day

Very likely, but dulac also said the team was going to IR will Howard... if they wait till he has been on the regular season roster for 1 day, they have the option of bringing him back if a trade manifests four games into the season
I know how the city and fan base pulls for Underdog but I'd keep Skylab over Howie if it came down to it. But there is the fact that according to those who know me best and Mr @Lunar I don't really know **** from shinola so there is that.
Sort of... if they put him on Preseason IR with a DFR tag, he could come back, but if they dont need him, he still burns a return spot... and they already used one on Trice
If they didnt put that Tag on him, he is lost for the season
If they put him on IR after the initial roster, they get the flexibility of either letting him come back any time after 4 weeks or keeping him on IR

The weird part was they kept Donte Kent there...
Im guessing he may be IR bound too, but with all that depth in the secondary this preseason, they only kept 8 and Kent was one of them....
Skylar or Mason, who ever can snag the better draft pick/exchange. They might be equal in value.
Well played sir, well played indeed. I still can't believe they got rid of Mr Bean. He was one of the few bright spots from last year. Plus, other than Zach, one of the few Mountaineers pursuing their dream of playing organized foosball (what we have today ain't football) past the age of 22.

Perhaps, but what are you going to get for him? Realistically? So he had a decent preseason. That’s swell but he also has a professional football history that isn’t good much less great. You might get a 6th, most likely a 7th.

No, they could preseason IR him and end his season or designate to return after 8 games. They can also make him one of the 53 and end his season or designate him to return after 4 games.
If they were planning on ending his season, there was really no reason not to IR him before the 53 cut. My guess is he gets the IR with the 4 games or he is healthy enough now or in a week or two.
I agree with keeping 4 QB’s as I don’t think Rodgers lasts long.
