Steelers bring in gay johnson.

Wtf would you bring in a career corner to coach wide recievers? Seems like a waste of time
Well they still have a WR coach, but you do wonder why not intern for the corners. Perhaps they thought there was too many hats there at the position already.

I get that we have a real wr coach. But juju is what 22? And rhe leader. Other than moncrief we have super young wideouts. Why c9nfuse them with a differnt voice?

Here is what DJ had to say regarding Gay: With former Steelers cornerback*William Gay*now working with the wide receivers after being officially named a 2019 coaching intern for 2019 earlier in the week, Johnson was asked how the longtime NFL defensive back has helped him so far during OTA practices.

“He’s been telling me like how like certain defenses are going to play and like what to expect from a corner, like, what leverages to attack, or whatnot,” Johnson said. “Try to keep everything the same when I’m out there at receiver so they can’t like pick off like certain things I do, if it’s a pass or a run.” .... Joe Greene's first coaching job was the offensive line.

just as soon as I typed that I knew someone would point that out. But that was joe Greene.

Willie Gay was the second-best DB of the Tomlin Era (after Ike Taylor). That ain't chicken feed ya know. /damning with faint praise

like ****! how many times can like someone say like like that and like don't feel like he has **** for brains or something like that?

Gay is just teaching them temporarily, right? Seems like a good idea to let the young guys know about mannerisms, positioning etc. from a DBs point of view, right Cope?

It's actually a fantastic idea to bring DBs in to the WR room to give insight into what the DB sees when a WR runs routes. It's good because DBs can pick up aspects of a WR's games like missteps, feigning routes improperly, giving away running plays, and not properly using their hands to beat the press. It's very smart to do this with multiple positions. Like OLs using DL coaches and vice versa. LBs and RBs/TEs. It will make you a better football player to know what the opposite side of the ball is doing.

It's almost like having competent position coaches.
