Steelers 2nd Round Pick - Bernard

From CBS Sports -

47. Steelers: Germie Bernard, WR, Alabama

Grade: A+

If the Steelers wanted to come away with a tackle and receiver in this class, they did about as well as they could have expected, given their draft capital. Bernard is a nuanced route-runner who can create on his own after the catch. While he lacks the juice to be a true downfield weapon, he can get open at the intermediate level consistently.

I like the pick. Good size and production, nice hands, good blocker. He has the inside/outside ability McCarthy talked about wanting from a receiver. Not a diva.

For a guy without elite size or speed. I gotta say after watching his highlight reel. Guy has a great combination of hands feet and vision. The way he catches and runs soft hands catcher great route runner. Excellent awareness and great field vision, guy finds space with his feet after the catch and reads the defenders like a poor mans leveon bell. I will likely regret the comp. But I really like the pick. We haven't had anyone with close to this skillset in way too long. Exactly what Rodgers needs. And likely asked for.

Best route runner and blocker in the draft according to some. Isn't a fruitcake like Lemon, either. On paper our first post-Tomlin draft looks great.

A movable piece weapon that can block as well.

He was the receiver I most frequently targeted in the 2nd in mocks.

Was a wise decision to move ahead of the Falcons to go get their guy, not too hefty of a price.

Glad they didn’t go into the season with Roman Wilson as “the plan”, if they grab the right late round flyer/UDFAs his days may be numbered…or who knows maybe MM can unlock him and remove him from the junk pile.

I like the pick but was a bit surprised they had to give up their 4th rounder to move up 6 spots. They could have done that in the 1st.
