Sources – Brown Requests Trade

This is a pattern with AB.. It is now not just an isolated incident or something to keep brushing off. If they don't trade him, they should take their lumps and suspend him for the first 3 or 4 games of next year. That will get the message across to him (his records and numbers mean nothing to the TEAM) and to others. This team has gone without discipline for far too long. AB missing his record of 100+ catches and 1,000+ yards next year means more to him than wins. Missing 3 or 4 games and he damn well may not make those numbers.
The ******* problem is everytime he does something idiotic, it's always someone else's fault. Look how quick these threads tuned into a "well Ben did this" topic.
AB throws a water cooler during a game or stands there showing Ben up by throwing his hands in the air , it's AB is just a competitor and Ben needs to get him the ball.
AB Facebook lives in the locker room, against team and nfl rules, it's oh it's no big deal that's what guys do now.

I've never seen such a selfish player that's never held accountable by anyone, even the fans that stand in line for autographs that he no shows. Or kids at children's hospital who have to be wheeled out of their rooms with all their machines hooked to them to see him, then be taken back, because he shows up 4 hours late, but that's ok he wrote them a check.

with AB's age and salary, there likely isn't a large market for him. By that, the compensation will not be equal.
Trade AB? Sure. Though every team out there knows now what he brings to the table both good and bad.

i'm sure there will be a meeting between AB, his agent, Tomlin, Colbert and Rooney. Things will be smoothed over and this will be brushed under the rug with all the other lumps.

Yep you're probably right, but has that rug split open now with this last tantrum?

The Steelers aren't trading AB. La Canfora twisted AB's outburst just enough for the attention. Mission accomplished, he got it.

But AB needs to get a grip. He worked his butt off to get where he is and has had more than enough support from the team. His actions throughout the years, especially this year, cannot be blamed on anyone but himself.

Mark Madden is going off on AB on WDVE morning show right now. He said Tomlin should be fired right now for creating this by enabling AB and Le’Veon.

He said he 100 percent thinks Tomlin doesn’t think this kind of stuff is a big deal and doesn’t think it affects the play on the field.

I'm not concerned so much about the out burst, but the fact he didn't show up for practice, walk throughs, end of season meetings. And missing a potentially huge game.

Big freakin' circus! It's all it is. These are not our father's Steelers or even from 15 years ago Steelers. They are just like every other organization today. No pride, humility and can't stay out of the news. Fire this person, trade this person, sit this person. . . never ending!

I usually pay no attention to Mark Madden but he’s making some sense. He said since Ben doesn’t want a lot of change with coaches, he would fire Tomlin and bring back Bruce Arians as HC

I wouldn't even mind if they kept Tomlin, but brought in some one like Greg Williams and gave him full control of the defense. That's what's stopping this team

Absolutely, but why does one of the faces of the franchise need to feel unimportant or have an outburst that says why don't you trade me? The guy has a chip on his shoulder that he doesn't need.

I'm really starting to believe it all stems from JuJu getting MVP, I've heard from a few different places, AB said he's not appreciated

Brown's cap number in 2019 makes it tough for a trade, but suppose the Raiders offered two first round picks ( the ones from Dallas and Chicago ) in exchange for Brown? The Raiders need a receiver and could use extra buzz moving to Las Vegas. The Steelers can unload a diva, and with three first round picks, can find ILB, WR, and S. Players we could have for 5 years at maybe a 1/3 of the cost for Brown for one year.

Buy or sell?

Speaking of Las Vegas, their new stadium is right off the strip and looks amazing in the art concepts. I plan on to see a game there when the Steelers play.

I’d be fine with that as long as Tomlin doesn’t put up with anymore of the cry baby **** from AB.

That too, I'm just not sure they can move AB with his cap hit.

I saw an article that laid out a few trade scenarios. Two that I would be interested in:

Buffalo - AB for their 1st and Tre White (CB)
GB - Their two firsts or #12 and one of their new CB's

Do you comprehend what you read before you spout off?
I never said Ben has had scrub wrs and put up his best numbers with them.
Ward was 31 and 32 those years, not exactly in his prime. It's funny now matter what wrs we've used since Ben has been drafted seem to do well, I wonder why?

Thomas was not a top 5 wr, which is what I said. He wasn't an all pro, welker was getting up there in age, and Decker was decent, as I said QBs do not need the absolute best wrs to be very productive, they just need a good group

Look it up, Thomas WAS all pro that year, it was 2013. And I comprehend just fine. And here you are, proven wrong, and still spouting off and coming up with excuses.

Welker missed three games that year, still had 73 catches, 778 yards, and 10 TD's. Decker had 8 7 catches 1300 yards, 11 TD's, Thomas 92 catches, over 1400 yards, and 14 TD's.

And theres the list for all pro for 2013. And he was even better the next two years.

Joel - why would they draft a S in rd 1 when they just did that last year.
Not to mention Davis isn't going anywhere.

Your 2 x 1sts aren't likely. But I would take that deal, and go ILB, CB and BPA. Look for a WR with that BPA or 2nd round.

He wasn't first team is my point, when people would talk best wr in the NFL, his name wasn't coming up.
Yes, just like I said a franchise QB only needs a good group of WRs to excel, they don't have to be elite.
Thomas's first good year occurred when Manning got there and his numbers have been dropping ever since he retired.

When is the last time the best wr won a super bowl?
Eagles, no, Pat's, no, Seattle, no, Denver, no, Baltimore, no, Giants, no, Green Bay, no, Saints, no Steelers, no. You probably have to go back to Indy in 06 .

That reporter done got himself a bonus.

Tomlin, dumb as he is, can use this entire crap show to turn the team into an "us against the world" rallying cry for next season.

I'm willing to bet Brown IS frustrated as hell about being used as often as not as the decoy. Be thankful he hasn't pulled a "Moss" and just jogged out his routes half the time. Yes, Brown is emotional and temperamental. Yes, he has had a few WTF moments like the couch out of the hotel thing. But at the end of the day, Brown is still the best receiver in the league and he takes that very very seriously. By all accounts he has worked as hard as Rice did throughout his career. Brown is 70% super talent, 30% hard HARD work.

I don't excuse him for losing his temper. However, any of you who are married know that often the only people you CAN vent your frustrations upon are the ones closest to you. We are all bitching about AB throwing a temper tantrum and about 1/2 the board or better have responded by throwing their own temper tantrums.

Short version, Tomlin NEEDS to have clear, 'written in stone' expectations and consequences for failing to meet those expectations.

At the same time, maybe we should all consider how anemic the offense was without Brown drawing double coverage and moving safeties all night. He IS a very valuable asset and he and Ben are among the most productive duos in the game's history. I say we all just take a breath.

(Yes, I would LOVE for Tomlin to be canned, but we all know that is NOT going to happen. Fact is, if Tomlin goes, Fichtner goes. The new coach will want to bring in "his" guys. The offense really looked worlds better at least in RZ production this year. I would hate to see all that fall apart when they bring back Haley v 2.0 because the new coach "has a guy".)

Having a tantrum, and skipping mandatory practices, walk throughs, and ultimately missing a big game are two different things. He also skipped the KC walk or practice.
What about throwing furniture off a balcony?
The guy had a very good season, the offense was #4 in scoring, best red zone O. He's clearly all about himself, and he's super talented, but his ego and immaturity could potentially make the team worse.

He bitched after we beat Arizona with Landry at QB because he didn't get the ball enough, and Bryant just happened to have a big day that day.

The guy is a selfish *******, and you don't win with guys like him very often because if ***** not going his way he pouts and doesn't play up to his ability

We don't know that at all. Hell Tomlin's been here 12 years and still hasn't picked an OC or DC.

Exactly, they have one of the top offenses in the NFL, only a total moron of a coach would want to come in and radically change the offense.

It is rare that a new coach doesn't bring in his own staff. I suppose in hindsight, is is extremely telling that the only coordinator that Tomlin actually appears to have his 'stamp' on is Fichtner. 12 years and he only has 1 guy that he's brought in and "developed".

Not much of a coaching tree there...
