I think people worry way too much about Rogers. His decision is not impacting this draft. Period. End Stop.
The lack of QB talent is what is impacting our decisions. I mean, honestly, do we think letting Rogers determine whether Simpson is worth the #21 pick overall is any way to run scouting department/front office? Of course not.
Do you think HAVING Rogers under contract would PREVENT us from drafting Simpson if everyone in the front office/head coach thinks Simpson is worth the #21 overall pick and a potential long-term QB for this team? Of course not.
So why do you care?
After tonight, depending on the selection or trades, we can ALL decide if those are good or bad. But I just don't see any way Rogers is impacting that at all right now. And I think those that think his little 43-year old slow playing a decision to play or not matter at all to what we are doing is just kind of silly.
The time I am worrying about Rogers is right before training camp starts. Because I DO think the #1 guy on our depth chart has to be getting the reps to implement the new McCarthy system. That is right and proper to expect your starting QB to be apart of that process.
That is the drop dead date where I would tell Rogers to go pack sand. Before that? Eh... our QB room is just a bunch of guys anyhow. And there really hasn't been a good opportunity to cost effectively change that up to this point in the off-season (at least in my opinion).
