Did Cam Newton throw the game?

I'm not sold , .....but.....I'm not the first to think this. He could have dove for that fumble.....but.....
He was in a position to.....but...,,.who knows?
Is it conceivable?

What sayeth you?

Well, the league asked him to throw it, but he was strip sacked in the process.

If Cam dives for that ball he probably gets pulled from the game and put into concussion protocol.

This is what he said about it...

"I didn’t dive on one fumble because the way my leg was (positioned)," Newton told reporters in Charlotte on Tuesday. "It could have been contorted in a way. You say my effort? I didn’t dive down. I fumbled - that’s fine. That’s fine. We didn’t lose the game because of that fumble.”

Obviously when the ball hit the ground, it picked up trace amounts of kryptonite.

Seriously, no he did not throw the game.

Neither did Neil O'Donnell for that matter.

Sure he could have and should have dove for the ball but throwing the game? No. The Denver D played lights out and Cam was the only player to show up for the Panthers O, other than a few plays from Ginn. One thing that I did wonder about was why Cam didn't run in the 2nd half. I don't think he had a single run after half time. I know he got pretty beat up in the first half but he wasn't limping or anything.

If Cam showed up in that game I'd hate to see how he plays when he doesn't show up.

NO, didn't throw the game. The game went the way the NFL deemed it to.

Salute the nation

He didn't have a chance to throw the game, the refs already had it in control...

I still don't know how a ball that never touched the ground, is not a catch...

It happened to Hines in the AFC Champ game against the *s. Ward landed on his back and ball never hit the ground but refs said the ball moved. Called it incomplete.

No, Newton shrunk like Ant-Man, then when virtually mute. After the game the chip on his shoulder moved into his vocal cords.

I don't think there was an agenda here. the Panthers ran into a defense that was able to take away the pass while still putting a lot of pressure on the qb. Kudos to Elway for using free agency and the draft to make a complete team.

It did touch the ground....now listen I agree with you...I think its a catch..but with the new whats a catch whats not a catch crap of Rogers league I knew it was not going to be overturned..if they had called it complete to begin with...that would not have been overturned.

Won't say that. I think he took enough hits that he didn't want any more.

that's what a few punches early do to any QB (other than Ben), make them hesitate

- Early on, I felt there were some holding calls that the Panthers were getting away with. I was a bit irritated about it.

- I didn't think it was a catch at all. The ball touched the ground on two occasions and I felt on both the receiver trapped the ball against his body WITH the ground.

- By the time the 2nd half came on, it was clear the Panthers weren't going to get a call to save their souls. Sure Cam may have been out of the pocket in the EZ, but he'd thrown the ball and taken at least a step or two before he got levelled. He had clearly thrown the ball away. That was a late hit. It wasn't like the defender had launched himself at Newton while he was in the act of throwing and couldn't stop himself. He initiated the contact AFTER the ball had been thrown. If the same had been done to Ben we'd be bitching.

I don't like Newton, was glad to see the Panthers lose, but I believe with just a couple minutes left in the half they showed a graphic that pointed out that the Broncos hadn't had a single penalty called on them in the 2nd half, while the Panthers had gotten something like 7 or 8. Admittedly 2 or 3 of those were procedural as things were unraveling. But like I said, the Panthers weren't going to get a call to save their souls toward the end.

They didn't even show the last snap. Was it a kneeldown? What did the Panthers do on the final play? Does anybody know?

I don't think that he threw the game. I was just joking.

No way, the dude just has no heart, and the video clearly shows that, even when he went back in to pretend to get the ball, he didn't even try. He didn't run much in the 2nd half because Denver hit him several times and he didn't want hit anymore, which is why QB's that use their own running ability to set up their passes rarely do much in the NFL, once they start getting hit they get happy feet and can't make accurate throws.
