- Early on, I felt there were some holding calls that the Panthers were getting away with. I was a bit irritated about it.
- I didn't think it was a catch at all. The ball touched the ground on two occasions and I felt on both the receiver trapped the ball against his body WITH the ground.
- By the time the 2nd half came on, it was clear the Panthers weren't going to get a call to save their souls. Sure Cam may have been out of the pocket in the EZ, but he'd thrown the ball and taken at least a step or two before he got levelled. He had clearly thrown the ball away. That was a late hit. It wasn't like the defender had launched himself at Newton while he was in the act of throwing and couldn't stop himself. He initiated the contact AFTER the ball had been thrown. If the same had been done to Ben we'd be bitching.
I don't like Newton, was glad to see the Panthers lose, but I believe with just a couple minutes left in the half they showed a graphic that pointed out that the Broncos hadn't had a single penalty called on them in the 2nd half, while the Panthers had gotten something like 7 or 8. Admittedly 2 or 3 of those were procedural as things were unraveling. But like I said, the Panthers weren't going to get a call to save their souls toward the end.
They didn't even show the last snap. Was it a kneeldown? What did the Panthers do on the final play? Does anybody know?
