So, someone claims they are a Steeler fan.....

Didn't POP get Scobee confused with Suisham a few months ago? .....yeah this seems like a "I must convince them I'm not a Patriots fan post"

I think this is another one of your "void of football insights" posts. Simple is as simple does.

Agreed, Drink. I thought the OP was another "look how smart I am so I'll look down on you" post. Its par for the course though.

And I think this post is another of your "Look how dumb and shallow I am; I don't actually provide any depth, just weasel whining."

The audacity of the OP stating the need to remember every players name, in order to be a "TRUE" Steelers fan, is ridiculous. There is a HELL of a lot more or less to being a fan than memory. Slight fan to full blown fan is something that only the individual can determine. How far each one is willing to go is entirely up to the individual. Some lay back while others get crazy and does that mean one is less than the other??? Some choose less expression than others. How about the STEELERS way? Hard working team of the seventies??? If one portrays that characteristic are they considered the "FAN" ?? I think one can have low keyed personality / knowledge / along with how they present & handle themselves as representatives of OUR team, makes them a fan. Having all the knowledge in the world does no good if you come off as a know it all son of *****. Who wants that representing our STEELERS ??? I'll take a decent, hard working, somewhat knowledgeable, clean humored representative as a "TRUE FAN" any day over a name memory guy with questionable behavior. There are also those who mascaraed as fans, sometimes for multiple teams. Is it because they are trying to fit in, set someone up, just need the love, who knows. Those people can be true fans too, like a chameleon per say. My QUESTION would be, Why would one need to question somebody else's fandom other than to make themselves feel better about themselves ?? Is it to justify there behavior to look down on a fellow "FAN" ...................

I know a LOT of the cheating ******* cheatriot players names , past & present, but that does NOT make me a fan of that worthless loathsome franchise..!!!

Look at the angry rant. It's like someone ate a bunch of alphabets and then threw up all the letters. A REAL fan will know at LEAST the starters names, unless the have a mental disability. (Does that hit too close to home?)

Show me a "real fan" who doesn't realize who our starting QB, RB, WRs, LBs, etc. are. You show me that person, and I will show you a "casual" fan, but not a "real fan."

I can't name more than a few Buccos or Pens (I can name more Pens after following them in the playoffs, but only a few beforehand). That is why I do not profess to be a "real fan" of those teams, because I don't follow them close enough to qualify. See, in my case, I'm not a hypocrite.

You really don't need to howl at the moon and vomit on yourself. Calm down and take your meds. You're already gnashing your teeth by noon. Have you had your blood pressure checked lately?

Wow, that's a lot.

I still heavily support and follow my Western Pa. Pro/College teams but as time went on after moving here I became a casual fan of Georgia, Georgia Tech (except for when they play PITT) and Ohio State. SEC Conference football fans are nutty and dangerous when they start arguing about their Teams. ACC Conference basketball fans (some of them) can be annoying at times and the former players turned ESPN game analyst seem to be unfriendly towards the new ACC teams.

To me, that is the fun of having one fan you are die hard for, and others that you casually follow but don't care that much if any one team wins or losses. That described me and college football. Since moving down here, I have gotten into it a lot more.

PITT is the team I root for most, but don't lose sleep if they lose. I will have their game on, if it is on TV down here, but I am usually doing something else with the game on in the background. That is no where near how I watch a Steeler game.

And, PITT has mostly disappointed for the last few decades or longer. They are NEVER a factor in the national championship picture and may not be for decades.

My local college team is U of FL, and I casually follow them, but, don't get upset if the lose but slightly pull for them. I don't own a single t-shirt or hat of theirs or PITT.

I do take some interest in SEC football, because it is invariably where the best college football is played. The SEC is king. It's not even close. Those teams have the biggest, fastest and best players. I am not a "Bama" fan, but I do like Nick Saban, because I am a fan of excellence.

I don't know what is making you maddest, the fact that I won't acknowledge your judgement of what makes a "true fan" or the actual bashing of your prized cheatriot organization????? POPs, I'm sure you can be a decent person and I'm glad for that. B UT you must realize that there is no true definition of a "true fan" . You only have your perception of what that is to be. I have mine and they disagree. I don't profess to be a doctor but I am a "TRUE FAN" of the STEELERS, weather you like it or not. Take a few Valium or drink some more of t*mmy b*y's cool aid or what ever it takes to calm you down. It's OK to not know everything and acknowledging that fact may help you cope with what ever deficiencies you are missing or compensating for. CARRY ON O'l chap and keep making headway.

LOL....Well both of their names do start with the letter S.

No, awesome is pulling into the parking lot of your home town team and seeing a sea of Steelers flags and Black and Gold everything.....1200 miles away from Pittsburgh. Walking into the stadium surrounded by fellow Steelers fans and seeing the other teams "home" field over run with Terrible Towels. Watching the "home" team QB having to use a silent count because the Steeler fans are just too ******* loud for him.....

Exactly. 2014 Steelers vs. Atlanta Falcons at the Ga.Dome. Steelers fan took over the streets outside the Dome walking to the game and then outnumbered the Falcons fans inside the Dome 75% to 25%. The Falcons were caught by the NFL at the end of that season for pumping in crowd noise on the speakers to disrupt the visitingTeams and it was apparent they did that crap during that Steelers game. How the heck was 25% of the Home crowd all of the sudden able to out shout the loud and rowdy 75% Steelers fans in the stands?

I love it when the Steelers hit the road and our opponent's Coaches have to prepare for the Steelers and their Front Office has to prepare for the fans. Don't want to sell game tickets or playoffs tickets to the fans calling from a Western Pa. area code? Fine, we'll still get tickets and help you pay rent for the day by selling out your stadium and buying up all the food & drinks. And don't forget about the Steelers fans that live in your town and are waiting to join the rest of the fan base at the game.

Yeah following the Panthers has been like getting kicked in the groin at some point in their season for both FB and BB. I had nicked name the basketball team the Can't Get Right squad and then Coach Dixon left and Coach Homer Simpson was hired. Swift kick to the groin again? I still have hope for both Teams to be successful eventually and put Pitt back on the map.

the SEC sucks. Overrated.
Hahaha, and that's how most of the arguments start up. Then the replies are "Oh yeah what team do you root for?" If they say a Non-SEC Team then its " Oh we beat your conference with our weakest team" or "how many Bowl games have you lost to us?" The SEC fights are real, see the YouTube clips of Alabama fans mixing it up with other fans. Look when I hear folks yell that phrase " Roll D@mn Tide", I'm looking to see who said it and if there are any Auburn fans around.

I don't know all the starters. I've been a fan since 1974. I am comitted enough to the team to sit and watch the games in the same room as Ark and Supe so I think I am a true fan.
