So now what are the excuses?

Becsuse we are a pass firsr team and that is what Ben likes. It gives him easier reads. The defense cant disguise what they are doing when spread out. At least that is the premise
Well, I guess it all factors in to why they are what they are...which is stubborn to the point of self-defeating by not game planning more in accordance with a defense's weakness. Haley's game plan, underwritten by Tomlin. Ben's execution was, in my mind, predictably bad. Not sure why he felt compelled to repeatedly throw at Ramsey, no matter who he was covering. One thing I am certain we can agree on--depressing *** game.

Tonlin is freakin stupid. I mean who calls 5 Ints? Stupid Stupid Stupid.

I do blame him for the first down spot challenge. That was a bad challenge. The AB challenge is all AB's fault with his ******* ego. He knows that ball hit the ground. Don't tell the coach to throw the flag, if you know you freakin trapped it.

Haley and Ben share the most blame today. Honestly, after the first 5 weeks with empty back sets on short yardage, 8 screens per game, running 1 yard drags, not setting up other plays with formations and earlier plays in a game, something has to change. The Ravens would fire their OC at this point for ******** the bed for 5 straight weeks. Too bad the Steelers are loyal to their coaches, because all the parts are here for a SB, just not the playcalling or QB execution.

The D is carrying this team, and it isn't even close.

I'm not blaming tomlin for much, should've run a little more and enough of the empty backfield crap, that's on Haley.
As for the picks, 4 of the 5 were tipped, bad luck played into it some, not like he was just throwing the ball to jag players

The run worked? When? Bell is just as bad as Ben, maybe worse. He's mediocre on the ground and **** in the pass game. Bryant is bad too. The line play is bad. The only one worth a **** on O is Brown. The plays are bad, the execution is worse. The offense is junk, top to bottom.

OL ain't right for some reason. At the half, bell had 9 runs for 3.1. Ypc. He had 6 catches for 5.3 ypp. You keep harping that it was the 32nd ranked run D, but our OL wasn't acting like it.

Until the end, our D kept Fournette in check. There is some hope, I guess.

They were running early but when they got behind after the two pick 6's in 90 seconds then ya gotta start throwing.

With all the bitching, I couldn't figure out which thread to choose from. So I guess this one is as good as any...

Lets start at the top and work our way down.

Tomlin, his challenges were absolutely horrible today. Neither of the plays were questionable to say the least and he wastes two timeouts... Maybe he should wear some lighter shades next week. (btw, I'm usually a pretty solid Tomlin supporter, today he sucked horribly).

Haley, love his offense, but his playcalling is questionable at best. He can call the greatest game we've ever seen, and follow it up with the dumbest one you've seen since the last time he called a bad game...in fact, out of the five games this year, I've questioned his play calling in four of them.

Ben, I'm not going to blame all the INT's on him. And Haley isn't doing him any favors with some of the plays he's calling. First INT, Ben is hit as he's throwing, the CB is underneath coverage and there is no safety help over the top. Ben can't step into the throw and it comes up short, right into the coverage. Second INT, we all know was batted at the LOS. Ben saw the coverage, made the right read, ball is batted, not his fault. Third INT, forced the throw in triple coverage. This is a bad throw, but I can understand his thinking here. The only WR that has stepped up consistently is Brown, trying to let his best player make a play, just forced the ball. Fourth INT, should not have been an INT. JuJu was contacted about 15 yards down field, then the feet get tangled and he goes down. Ben is throwing to a spot, complete timing route. Fifth INT, (Jesus did I just type fifth INT??), yeah it's a bad throw, but Jax is playing straight pass and they know we had to force some throws. Brown gets pulled down by Ramsey and can't even try to make a play on the underthrown ball. I think the phatom hold the play before really took the air out of the offense and after that it was just a throw it no matter what...

OL, we desperately need Gilbert back. Hubbard is horrible, and whoever lined up across from him made a play or was in the backfield forcing Ben to move or get rid of the ball earlier than he wanted. They are not opening holes consistently. And for some reason we can't run to the right side very well. At least not on tradition QB under center formations. It only works on draws or runs from shotgun. Until Gilbert is back, the majority of our runs need to go left. And before anyone says "you can't just run to one side all the time", Jax ran the same play nearly 16 straight plays...

WR, Brown keep doing you. Bryant, snap out of it man. Stop leaving your feet trying to avoid being tackled, you just make it easier to bring you down. JuJu, I know you're a rookie, you're gonna make mistakes. Who else we got? We thought we were stacked here, turns out it's just like last year. No one to take pressure off Brown.

RB, can't fault you for not being able to hit holes that aren't there. But when they are there, HIT THAT DAMN HOLE!

Defense, wrap the **** up already. Dupress stop peaking inside and set the edge. We know you are a freak athelete and can rush the passer, but you need to step you're game up with the run. Can't let these guys get the edge.

Our defensive gameplan was as confusing as our offensive gameplan. We were down 14, we knew they were running every single play, and where does Butler have our corners? 15 yards off...everyone always says how complicated our defense is to learn, and not a lot has changed from LeBeau to Butler, but look at Jax, they don't do anything special, they aren't confusing anyone, they are just playing. Letting their guys react and not have to read this and read that. Simple is sometimes better.

It was a frustrating loss for sure, but despite Jax last place rush d, they are not a bad team. They are definitely on the rise. Bortles had cut down on his turnovers, they've featured the running game, and are playing great defense. They kept our offense off the field and didn't allow us to get into any rhythm. Was an excellent game from them, from the coaches all the way down to their punter. Tip the hat to them, the better team won, and we've got plenty of work to do.

He had **** last year and played better though, or not?
Coates started off well, then Eli stepped up, and Bell was ridiculous all season catching out of the backfield, one game Ladarius actually showed up. It seemed like almost every game there was another wr that made some plays, now Eli has been benched, so we have Bryant who missed an entire year who obviously doesn't have an explosion right now and a rookie in JuJu, Hunter had one look and ran the wrong route

He looked explosive when he caught that slant and out ran everyone..maybe he was sick. Who knows. And with the day Ben had who knows if Hunter ran the wrong route.

Here is my take on the status of the Steelers play.

It all comes down to Tomlin. This is not an aberration game, this is a pattern with this team. I completely fault the Head Coach, it is his job to make changes when they are needed, and he refuses to do that. How many years have we seen the same **** form Haley's game planning? A Head Coach should be able to see this as a problem, and do something about it. Same goes for the Defensive coordinator. But let's say for sake of argument, the TWO Coordinators are being told by the Head Coach what to do, then it is Tomlin's fault for a different reason. Sure the players job is to execute the plays called, but it seems that the plays are not being called properly.

I would be less critical of Tomlin if I saw some kind of changes being made, instead of all the bullshit talk about changes. We have a young player who makes a mistake and is literally banished from the team, yet a continually poor performing OC is still employed. I am not giving the Defense a pass, just that their level of culpability is a fair but lower on the problem chart.

The culture of the Steelers has changed under Tomlin. He allows the inmates to run the asylum and we used to be a team first organization but thanks to Bell, Bryant and Bell, etc its all about me me me me.Tomlin is not cerebral nor does he have any discernable backbone other than unleashing stupid statements and proclamations followed by no changes and more of the same old exciuses, goiu=ng back to the lab, owning this and that and just being a poorly coached team with great talent.

The D has been getting run through like a las Vegas hooker. Howard, Cohen and Fournette all had career days vs this defense, We got Kareem Hunt this week. Wouldn't be suprised if he went 200+. The offensive line is pretty terrible and Ben should not be throwing 55 times vs the #1 pass defense. I blame Haley and Tomlin. Why abandon a running game that was so dominant vs the worst ranked run d in the league. Thats just bad coaching. Ben had a really bad day but that has little to do with the bad coaching and scheming, that has been an issue for a long time.

Can some one find out how many passes were called before the pick 6's because once we were down 11 points in three minutes the game changed. And again because the Jaguars ran alot of single high Safety how many pass plays were called at the line of scrimmage.

Think maybe the fact that Bell averaged a whole 3 yards per carry played into the team abandoning the run? Damn, some of you are acting as if Bell was ripping off massive runs, and gaining 5-6 yards a clip. The run game was ineffective yesterday. Not to absolve the gameplan, but yesterday truly was a fail in terms of player execution.

A lot of players failure to execute.

Which despite Ben's ****** performance it was a total team loss.

One thing I have been wondering is that WR coach who said it was his last year.....has been lame duck coaching as well. Because outside Antonio those wide-outs have been unimpressive.

Outside of AB, NONE of our WR or TE know how to get separation or use their body on contested passes. A big part of it is lazy route running, rounding off their breaks, and not running routes at full speed.

This is where I wish we knew the routes that we're supposed to be ran or if QB and wr arent on the same page.
1. There was a 3rd and 6 I think, JuJu ran 2 yards past the sticks and ran a very rounded of out that allowed the db to knock it away, if he just goes a foot or two past the sticks the ball is on him and the db doesn't have time to knock it away.
2. The pick by Ramsey, the ball was thrown to Vance, if he comes back to the ball his body is between him and Ramsey, but who knows, Ben was getting popped when he was throwing that pass.

hoping they learn something from film, because the coaches aren't telling them anything.
