Not counting the games Ben didn't play, in the 4 he did play the offense has struggled to score in 3 of them. And I don't want to hear about injuries, suspensions, blah blah blah. All teams have them. Green Bay lost their #1 receiver but they have been okay ( except for last night ). New England could put the water boys in and they'd still score points. Carolina lost their #1 receiver and they're undefeated. The point is simply this... If Ben is as great as everyone says why does this offense have such a hard time scoring ******* points? He looks great 20 to 20, but unfortunately that's not what wins games. You gotta put the ball over the little white line and for some reason we struggle to do that in a lot of games.

It's been that way bens entire career and one of the few reasons Ben isn't a elite qb. .

Got us to 3 super bowls. We won 2. We would have won the third if not for a ****** OL.The guy will go in the HOF. This team will win another super bowl while he is here. Some of you are about as brilliant as a monkey trying to **** a football.

Offense is all about timing..

And we all should of expected some rust for Ben and his wide-outs to get back on track....especially with his wide-outs...

That is why you saw Heath get targeted and have so much success today..less precise timing is needed to get the TE involved in the passing game..

Luckily Ben still has a decent portion of the season left to turn it around and I suspect he gets back on track Sunday.

Timing has nothing to do with a twelve year QB throwing into double coverage , 3rd & short and throwing 30 yds down the field over and over, not protecting the football, and a refusal to be patient and take what the defense gives him.

Whatever it was that this guy had he doesn't anymore. There was a time when if they were down with two min. Left in the game I knew he would find a way to win. I knew yesterday he wouldn't get it done.

His last 3 playoff games he has 4 td' s 5 int.

Hasn't won a playoff game in 5 years.

Beat on his home field and outplayed by Joe Flacco last year's playoff game.

When is the last time we seen him bring the team from behind late and win a big game? Or any

Take a game like the jets game last year. They scored 3 points through 3 quarters against a what? Team that finished with two or three wins.
Ben throws two picks and loses a fumble. He was making some bad bad decisions in that game.

The interception he threw against patriots in week one. Late fourth quarter when we were showing some signs of life. Into double coverage.

My point is this is a 12 year 20 million dollar a year QB. Who is supposed to be the leader of the offense. Team, franchise? He is the senior. The veteran.

That was a huge game with the division in the balance and he sucked. Not because he was rusty. Because he makes bad decisions.

He gets very impatient and is always looking to go long. Never thinking just get a first down and move the chains.

He did that a few times yesterday.

After bell goes down they had 2nd and two and have to punt and go three and out. Hanging the defense out to dry over and over.

So instead of sitting in a hunting blind all day Friday maybe he should have spent all day studying the Bengals defense.

No I don't want to go back to Malone, brister, Stewert. I want Ben, but I expect Ben at this stage to be a better decision maker.

He will win games. He will be exciting, but he will also lose to teams they should beat. Like jets 2014, winless Tampa bay at home 2014.

Even before he went down in the rams game they had one TD through almost 3 quarters. Against Jacksonville 2014 10 points through almost 4 quarters. Barely making it out with a win. Why? This is a elite QB. With a full array of weapons.

I am using games of recent memory to try and get my head around why every time I think he is going to move himself up with the guys like Brady, or all time greats he has a performance like yesterday.

I expect anyone else to lose that game yesterday not my franchise veteran 20 million dollar a year QB.

This guy is a recarnation of an old poster. Not sure which on though.

I like Ben, but I don't understand this whole Well, Let's Give Him a Pass, He Always Sucks His First Game Back from Injury line of thinking that has become so prevalent.

The guy has been in the league for over ten years. He's signed to a monster contract. He's been in the same offense with many of the same players for several seasons. He's one of a handful of "elite" quarterbacks on the planet.

There shouldn't be any ******* rust.

People cant have it both ways. People were saying when Ben comes back we are going to light it up and stomp the Bengals. Since it did not happen now there are a million and one excuses as to why. The bottom line is Ben has played well in one game this year. Of course we are a better team with Ben, but he is not the end all be all. The play calling was poor yesterday. Way too many bombs. Its one thing to throw the bomb ever so often, but not into double coverage multiple times. With a hobbled QB they should have focused on short / int passes. Brown excels at getting open quickly. Miller had a nice game, but where is our 3rd / 4th WRs. They have been non-existent.

It is difficult to argue these statements. I would have expected the main culprit yesterday to be Bryant dropping a pass or two, the defense giving up 30 plus points, Villanueva or Wallace to get beat time and time again by defensive linemen, special teams giving up big plays, Mike Tomlin mismanaging the clock (he did), but not Ben throwing picks on two consecutive passes when the offense could have put the game away.

Agreed. The play-calling was practically comical. They throw outside and deep all game without success, then with the clock as the enemy at the end, they dink-and-dunk down the middle of the field, and run out of time. It's kind of funny, but it isn't.

This right here. And what the hell was that two yard out to Bryant on the fake spike all about? Just a way to waste time or what? That was incredibly boneheaded and cost us quite a few precious seconds while Bryant was fighting to get out of bounds.

And Brown cried and cried for the football while Ben was out and he had what 3 drops yesterday? And Wheaton is a boob too. We might as well just run him straight down the field every time he's involved in a play to at least take a defender with him. He is never on the same page with any QB and is good to drop the damn ball.

He wasn't the same after Gino Atkins got near him on that second drive.

He was thinking about his knee. Ben will be fine .

That's Ben's decision making skills right there on display on the ball spike play.

That's why I cringe when I Hear people He should be the offensive coordinator. He is a baller but critical thinking isn't one of his strong suits.

I am in full agreement with you. His knee had nothing to do with his lack of a brain yesterday and inability to read their defense.

Ah the Bengal/Pat troll newbies...

Welcome boys. Glad you enjoyed the game. Now go away. By the way, our QB playing really badly was still practically was good as yours playing well. Enjoy THAT!

Did Ben try to force some things? Sure. Of course he did.

Did Bell's going out change the game? You betcha.

Did the late interceptions completely change the complexion of the game? Obviously.

Did the world end? Nope. It turns out the Bengals fans are still ********. I know. I was as shocked as anyone. However I am happy to report that I STILL hate the Patri*ts more. So much more.

So, get better Ben. Shake it off. (You should have run though. You had a good 7 yards easy there. You know, I know. Everyone knows it. Next time big guy... While we all want to make the Fullback's day - he's a fullback man. He aint gonna come back to the ball.)

Carry on folks.

I am pretty confident Ben will be back to his pre-injury form next week. It is alarming though to see how reminiscent that was of some of his early career cowboy'ing he used to do that would occasionally lead to major mistakes

Kind of interesting that some pooh-pah the losses of players on offense to just Bell being injured YESTERDAY. When in fact the Steelers have been without:

1) Their starting All-Pro Center for all but a handful of plays.
2) Their starting All-Pro RB for a total of 2 1/2 games (and now the rest of the season)
3) Their becoming a superstar #2 WR for 5 games
4) Their LT, recognized as one of the best technicians at his position, for 2 1/2 games (lost for the season)
5) Their HOF QB for 4 games

So, while other teams may have had injuries to a key player, none have been hit as hard as the Steelers Offense this year. You want to talk about how injuries to even two key skill players affect a team ... Look at Dallas. 0-5 since Romo and Bryant have been injured. And that's with just two key skill players lost.

Losing your best players to injury/suspension lessens your chance of winning. That's not an excuse, it's a fact.

Yep

Honestly, on paper we shouldn't even have a chance. It speaks to the improvement of the D and the heart showed by the team (two things they've been lacking for the past several years) that we are still here even talking about the wild card
