So here's how you know Tomlin was out coached,

Over the years, when the discussion was to fire Tomlin, I'd always ask "Who replaces him?"

Not that I was defending him, but I didn't want to get caught up in the coaching carousel like other teams do.

After last night - fire him. Look for the best candidate out there. There are quite a few younger guys with fire and zest, who have proven themselves in their own right. For ****'s sake, even the Browns OC and DC look good at this point.

Though if Tomlin is fired, Ben will leave. So will Pouncey. Instead of slowly pulling the band-aid off, you're yanking it off. Would the FO consider promoting Butler? His defense was good/great until injuries (and last night).

It’s okay if Ben and Pouncey leave, guys. We’ve literally never won a Super Bowl with that pair. The sun will come up tomorrow. Priority #1 is move on from Tomlin. And Ben should be right behind him.

But for the love of god do NOT promote Butler. He has already reached his Peter Principle as DC. He is a LB coach. He is a disaster of a DC covered up by like 12 first round talents all over the defense at every position group. There is a reason nobody has ever tried to hire away Butler or Fichtner. They have been over promoted to begin with. No. We start over with Saleh or Bieniemy

Slowly pulling off that Band-Aid will have us back next year with the same complaints.

Huh?

The Steelers haven't won a SB with Pouncey. Their last SB win was 2009. Pouncey wasn't drafted until 2010. So he is correct.

EDIT: I couldn't remember who the center was for that game. It was Justin Hartwig. I had to look it up.

I can't see Butler as a head coach.

If they want to move on from Ben cleanly, then fire Tomlin as well, say they are cleaning house. They were looking for a coach when Noll and Cowher retired.

This was all so predictable. The same ol same ol Stillers that have consistently under-produced under the same scenarios for years now, Can't consistently beat marginal teams, can't react to game conditions and adjust strategy's on the fly, repeated underproduction in must win games, end of season let downs and questionable play calling in multiple games during the season.

They are at a precipice now with the cap being certain to gut the team next year....if we even have a next year that is. It will be interesting to see the strategy taken to reverse this ongoing trend.

I'm not A Tomlin basher nor an ardent fan of his either but there is enough of his performance history to justify a change if not for the sake of fan support alone.

Prepare for 10 years of ******* hell on earth.

I thought that was the last 10 years. Watching Tim Tebow and Blake Bortles decimate you in the first round of the playoffs is my definition of hell on earth.

Been saying there is something fundamentally flawed with the way Tomlin coaches this team for 10 years too.

Look at all the coaching changes under him that have resulted in the SSDD syndrome...

Sooner or later you have to look at the top.

Yes. There is something culturally wrong there.

We talk about no teams around the league wanting our coaches to be their head coach. I don't even think any of them would get an interview internally for the position if it ever opened up.

It's simple and no one wants to see it, Tomlin is extremely stubborn and **** has to be his way. That's why we haven't had a guy reviewing plays to challenge and telling him when to challenge, even Belichek has a guy for that. Tomlin started getting involved with LeBeau's defense and when the defense got bad, everyone blamed LeBeau saying he plays to much zone and doesn't play man defense, he's let go, goes to Tennessee and they are top 5 in amount of man defense. It was Tomlin getting his Tampa 2 involved here.
Offense, Arians is getting Ben killed, Ben holds the ball to long, so Arians gone, Haley in everything is shorter quick routes, get the ball out of Ben's hands, someone had to be Tomlin's scapegoat so Haley gone, Fichtner in and this offense isn't much different than Haley's, so now it's Ben's fault for getting Haley fired and bringing in Fichnter.
Tomlin wants **** his way and his way only. Look at the Buffalo game, halftime, McDermott says we have alot of adjustments to make and they did, Tomlin says it's just the execution, passes the buck as always.

nope, not one of them.

I am so glad I haven’t emotionally invested anything in this team and the NFL this year.

I see it the other way. It appears to me, that Tomlin is a lets all do OUR jobs kinda guy, and lets everyone do whatever. When have you EVER seen him involved in coaching or play calling on the sidelines? I think the lax environment is what fostered the BS we had with Brown, and now the controversies with JuJu.

Who is nipping this BS in the butt when it starts? Nobody.

I don't disagree with that, but I'm talking more behind the scenes.

Tomlin's mistakes are always magnified by losses. Look at this game.

The situation. It's 4th and 1. We have the ball near mid field down 12 points in Q3. So what does he do? He opts to punt it, netting 39 yards total. And Cleveland scores to boot. Ben would have got the first down in all likely hood. It was a crap call, we needed points, not a punt.

Some interesting data The Steelers were 83.3% in their last three 4th and 1's, Down 12 points, you go for it. But Tomlin denied that chance.

You’re both right, because it’s both. He gets overly involved with the few things he cares about, leaving them worse off and then ignores things that he shouldn’t, which causes more problems. The worst is that he hasn’t and won’t take responsibility for the product. At the end of the day, the buck has to stop at him for that kind of performance.

It always seems that the team is too busy looking ahead. I really think they were looking at either playing Buffalo or Indy the following week. I remember getting a glimpse of that back when we were getting ready to play the Jaguars in the playoffs and AB was streaming from the locker room and you could hear Tomlin talking about the Patriots. We have seen that this season with Ebron talking about Super Bowl **** right before we went into our usual end of season melt down. Tweets from Tuitt prior to the Ravens game where a lot of their starters were sitting out due to COVID telling his team mates to pad their stats, and we just scooted by them with a win. JuJu still dancing on other teams emblems even when they are playing like ****, and Tomlin lets him continue until the fans and others start loudly calling it out. That's just a few things off the top of my head, but also shows another angle on why Tomlin isn't the "leader" he should be.........no discipline.

EXACTLY!!! This team has been buying its own hype every time they string a few wins together for YEARS. It always costs them and Tomlin has never even bothered to rein it in, which suggests he is part of the problem, if not THE problem when it comes to that.

He was on national TV doing an interview talking about Steelers vs Patriots part 2 that season.

Last night....WE take responsibility....

Just about every other HC in the league would have fallen on the sword and blamed themselves for not preparing the team to play.

But he doesn't.

Looking ahead is a Tomlin standard. This is a guy who lost to Tim Tebow with Polamalu, Harrison, Farrior, Hampton, Keisel, Ryan Clark and Ike playing D. Hell, the offense had Ward, Sanders and Antonio Browns first 1000 yard season (both receiving and kick returning), Heath Miller, Pouncey and Ben just off the top of my head yet still lost.

His **** defense played scared against Tebow, who completed just 46% of his passes for 127 yards per game that season, allowed him to complete 10 passes for 331 yards.
