It is absolutely sickening to see what is being said on Go-Bengals. My son in law (an Eagles Fan) is in LA heading home from the game yesterday. At the airport he was doing some "light" reading and ended up on their board. They are actually wishing the dude to be paralyzed and hope he never walks again. Picture of Ryan in a wheel chair, wishing Mitchell was next to him. Unlike every other fan base who is wishing the best, they are actually celebrating and enjoying what happened. I know they are a bunch of dickfaced ********, but that level of Hate or lack of compassion is befuddling for any fan base.

Hopefully, it's just a handful of Bengal fans. We have some Emmy Award winning ********, as well. It does make the entire fan base look bad. Karma, will get 'em.

I am a medical coder and know what I learned? Every condition has a different degree of outcome.

My coding auditor told me that the one thing to know about the field, is NOTHING is ever the same scenario.

We all hope for the best for Shazier, but even Dr's misdiagnose. They attack something and hope for the best, and it isn't always a known a outcome.

A "medical professional" would know the only known is a unknown.

He has swelling and they need to see what is beyond that swelling. Only God knows that.
 
He taped a voctory video and was all smiles... wasnt 100% restrained or anything either... propped up and pretty energetic

I'm getting it from the injury, procedure, and the fact that they moved him from the ICU to the PCU to receive visitors (which they don't do with a catastrophic spinal cord injury).

On top of the fact that you never hear "feeling and movement in all extremities" in under 24 hrs of a catastrophic spinal injury.

So yeah there's that.

Did you know that by breaking your arm you can actually end up losing it if a series of unlikely events happens?

So are you legitimately worried about Hayden losing his arm?

If not then you shouldn't be worried about "Shalieving" anything about Shazier walking again.......

He will.

I think a back injury is viewed as a more serious condition than a leg fracture. Sorry there is no likely or unlikely with this injury. With a fracture he would already be out of the hospital with a short stay. Extended stays are always viewed as more serious.

You view yourself as a medical professional, what exactly do you do? Does it consist of you being able to see beyond the swelling?

You aren't representing yourself well in this thread.

What I'm saying is that they are known quantities. And no matter what the swelling is hiding it's NOT a severed spinal cord or else he would NOT have mobility and sensation in all his extremities within 24hrs.

You guys can hee and haw all you want, but people not ignorant of the situation aren't worried anymore about wether or not he'll walk or live a normal life. Plain and simple.

You seem pretty ignorant of the situation, as downgrading him to a lesser unit doesn't preclude to his life being normal. Is normal having off and on back pain for the rest of his life? Which isn't out of the realm of possibility. I have seen people come back in with plenty of complications of surgery. Which further supports the unknown.

Pain? I'm pretty sure that's a given for anyone playing professional football.

And I brought up the broken bone thing to illustrate the difference between what CAN in the least likely scenario happen, and what WILL in any given situation happen.

You can literally lose your leg from breaking it if you happen to hit the bad luck Powerball..........but there's no reason to expect that to happen and no one realistically would.

The same is true of the injury and procedure that Shazier underwent. The likelihood that he does anything but walk normally and lead a normal life would again be like winning the bad luck Powerball and isn't really worth worrying about to anyone that understands the situation.

Umm, I guess I'm sorry that you don't have to worry about the man being in a wheelchair for the rest of his life???

Occasional football pain isn't the same as reoccurring back pain that can lead to your sports and day to day life activities being limited.

You know limited as your understanding of the situation.

I think Kevin Butler said it best. To paraphrase I'm not worried about him playing for us again, I'm concerned about him.

If someone has recovered from a spinal stabilization surgery in the NFL to play again, I'm not familiar with the example.

Quality of life is the goal here, returning to play football in the NFL would take a miracle. It would be risky, and maybe something a rookie or a 2nd-year player who has not made $1,000,000.00 would try.

At this point, I just hope he regains his quality of life and has saved his money. If the NFL doesn't take care of him, I hope Art Rooney will.
