Rounds 4 to 7 Discussion

he is not that slow on the field...not sure why his combine time sucked so bad. the kid needs to run sharper routes but could develop into a good slot WR and possibly replace Brown as the punt returner
Broken hand with pins in his pinkie finger. He's faster, quicker than that. Lost his brother who got gunned down last year. Sounds like another hardship case like Artie Burns. Sounds like a fighter, someone who's gonna go 110% day and night to make it. 7th round, almost doesn't matter who we pick. Sounds like the Steelers liked the kid and wanted to give him a chance. Watching presser now, they drafted him as a punt returner...moreso than a WR.

Would still like to draft Ochi and see if he can add 15 lbs

Ayers to be honest reminds me of AB coming out of college. I will be honest I wasn't impressed with AB and was 100% wrong. Ayers is a shifty receiver, above average hands, quicker than fast, great balance. His size and long speed is his negatives but I'm ok with the pick. I feel he might be able to take over for AB in punt return duty and maybe next year takes over for Wheaton.

.

Well... Ayers is small and thin... but at least he's slow. There's that!

Good grief... take a Punter! LOL.

Braunecker TE Harvard
Jeremy Cash SS Duke - surprised he's still available.
Jonathan Jones CB Auburn - very fast

Chase Farris T/G Ohio State

Keith Marshall Rb Georgia

Peak

Matakevich - love the pick. This guy is smart and tough. He should be great on special teams and could become a solid ILB. He's a solid Larry Foote type guy that would pair with the athletic Shazier

This will be a very competitive free agent period. Some of these guys will end up getting bigger bonuses than guys who were drafted in Rd 5.

Steelers still need a Punter, RB with some receiving skills, A return man, wide receivers, OL and a backup QB

punter - ?
RB with recieving skills - Kenneth Farrow (good blocker also)

Ayers is their new punt returner
ol?
trade for keenum.....

Meh 7th rounders are more often than not camp fodder... Ill believe that they will do something other than be cut when they actually do something other than get cut. Mostly the best you hope for is special teams play from them... Penciling any of them in as a future starter is a fools errand

this kid is more quick than fast but he is willing to do whatever he needs to for a win

he shows a lot of shftiness (that dri didn't have) and very nice hands.

The guy that made the video is a very good editor, some pro stuff there

steelers punting was terrible last year. I think it's a big need. Ayers may be the return man but i'd like some competition so AB doesn't have to do it anymore.

I can't see trading for Keenum. The steelers would just keep Gradkowski.

Was Jeremy Cash selected? If not, SIGN THE MAN!!

not saying they don't need a punter, just didn't have a name to put there.

I don't see them trading for keenum either, but I can dream. He is way better than anyone they have...Gradkowski included.....

Doesn't Keenum have a 4-5 million dollar contract? THAT is not happening.

Npot really a sexy draft, but it has potential... needs and depth. I think 4 of the 7 make the team straight up at their positions and one of the late rounders sticks as a special teamer. all seven potentially have a spot if they have good camps. its not often that happens

i think the guy with the toughest time making the team is 6th round Feeney. He's a developmental OLB and we know that learning the steelers OLB takes time even for top prospects. There are 4 OLB + Harrison ahead of Feeney. That means to make the team it will have to be on special teams

The 7th rounders Matakevich and Ayers will also have to make it with special teams but the depth chart at their positions are not as stacked.

Ayers only has to beat out guys like Eli Rogers and Shakim Phillips to be the #5 WR and the return jobs are wide open assuming they'd like to get AB off punt duty. If Ayers shows anything at all as a return man, his spot should be safe on the roster.

Matakevich will battle with Feeney but Matakevich does not have as much depth in front of him at ILB. He also has less of a transition because he did similar things at Temple. They signed Steven Johnson for depth at ILB. I can see Matakevich pushing Vince Williams off the roster if he shows well on special teams.
