How would adding two more teams to the playoffs work?

Seed #1 gets a bye.

#2 hosts #7

#3 hosts #6

#4 hosts #5.

Then you have a final four where the highest seed plays the lowest seed.

Under this format the top seed gets a huge advantage as they are the only team that gets a bye week and only need to win two games to reach the Superbowl. The remaining six teams will need to win three games to make the super bowl.

If this happens, seed them by the record, not by winning a division. A divisional win only guarantees a playoff spot.
 
**** them and their greed. We don't need more playoff teams. Will be too watered down. They won't stop until regular season is meaningless like other sports.
 
Other sports have a long regular season that already cuts most of the crap from the playoffs. 16 games isnt enough to determine who is really worthy or not. There is nothing wrong with this at all, other than its greed driven... its not like they are adding another week of games, just taking one bye away...

Right now, 6 teams make it per side. That is 12 out of 32...I can take that, as it is still less than 50% of total league. I think if you have as many as half of all teams making it, it diminishes the regular season. I like how every game matters in the NFL; it makes every week worth watching, as opposed to the NBA, baseball and NHL, where so many teams make it in, that making the playoffs doesn't mean much.
 
Make it a nineteen game season and 9- team (per conference) play off !!!!!!!! What the ****.????

I don't like it. Look, it seems as if every year we are talking in December about a potential 8-8 playoff team, even 7-9 a few times. Do we really need to find out which of the four 7-9 or 8-8 teams gets in?
 
Part of the reason has the best playoff system is the idea that only 12 of 32 teams make it. I really don't like the idea of adding more teams to the mix.

I couldn't disagree more. What makes the NFL better than the other sports is the limited games and limited playoff field. Every regular season game is important and could easily be the difference in making the playoffs or not. We've already had 7-9 playoff teams (which is stupid) with the current format. This will increase the likelihood of that, or worse yet 6-10 playoff teams which is retarded.

The NHLs format uses the regular season to eliminate teams that really suck from the playoffs - it's largely a meaningless exhibition. **** that!

Agreed.
 
If you're going to do that you might as well make it a 16 team playoff. No byes, each division winner gets a home playoff game and then Conference final four home games based on record. I don't like the top teams getting a bye especially because the Pats have had an easy road to a top two record for 15 years in that weak-*** division.
 
Hockey has too many teams in the playoffs, NCAA basketball has about 36 teams too many, don't **** with the NFL playoffs. Ridiculous money-making schemes all of them.

By that logic they should expand the playoff field to also include any team that beat the original 12 playoff teams during the regular season.
 
I'd be willing to give up our 4th round draft pick to make Goodell go away.

Move the kickoffs back 5 yards and don't mess with the playoff format.

Agreed, a format that would use a tie-breaker to decide which 14-2 team gets a bye is stupid.
 
And only having 12 teams qualify, which is the smallest of any of the professional leagues by far, that's a good thing for us ...

Somebody should clue Roger in on the fact that baseball only has 10 of 30 teams in the postseason, or just 33% of the field. While the NFL is at 37.5% with 12 of 32 getting in. He wants to increase it to almost 44%. It's bullshit.

But, I suppose they'll do it and nobody will care. Nothing stupid that they do seems to stop their money train. People keep watching no matter what.

Started a long time ago. NOW it's faster than you think. Soon it'll be similar to wwe, only bigger audience. ONCE THE RALIZation of fixed games becomes comes to light then the full affect of WWE will be installed.
