How would adding two more teams to the playoffs work?
Seed #1 gets a bye.
#2 hosts #7
#3 hosts #6
#4 hosts #5.
Then you have a final four where the highest seed plays the lowest seed.
Under this format the top seed gets a huge advantage as they are the only team that gets a bye week and only need to win two games to reach the Superbowl. The remaining six teams will need to win three games to make the super bowl.
If this happens, seed them by the record, not by winning a division. A divisional win only guarantees a playoff spot.
