Rodgers Signing with Black n’ Gold

There isn’t one available, so save the money, roll with Rudolph and plan from r next year.
Is Rodgers better than Rudolph? It can be argued that he might be, but is the juice worth the squeeze? I would say no. What do you do next year if no one is available then?

Haven’t you heard………………… some say Rodgers can play three more years…………..

EXCELLENT post Steelmann, appreciate you.

There is a lot that makes sense with the Aaaa-Ron signing. I’m hoping for the best.

The Tomlin is going to have to make some changes to accommodate Rodgers and maybe that action will slide a little into the defense as well. Tomlin has acknowledged change is needed, let’s see how far he will go.

Thanks again for the great post(s).

What's so great about it? Rodgers was not the "beat and cheapest choice," he was the only option left.

Fans are allowed to love him or love the signing but can't conveniently ignore that he is a wack job who rolls his WR under the bus and always wants to run his mouth.

He is a self-centered man-child who thinks the game revolves around him. Is it possible that he produces this year? Absolutely. But I find it much more likely that he doesn't make it to the Baltimore games.

And to the person who insists I have a personal issue with him, I've never met Aaron Rodgers. I judge him by his actions as the leader of football teams and his public actions and statements. I didn't love Ben and he created his share of drama but he usually got the job done. Rodgers is a putz who throws his hands up when a play goes wrong and blames his WR to the media. That's a deal breaker for me. He is not a capable leader.

And it dills my pickle to watch other organizations more committed to championships while this ain't got the sense God gave a goose

Kind of where I'm at. I think Rodgers is still better than Rudolph, not by a huge margin, but where does that get us? He gives us no shot at winning a Super Bowl, he's not the QB of the future, he puts us right in the mid 20's come draft time again, our defense is a year older and they got killed in the playoffs and when we played KC, Philly, Balt in the regular season. I can appreciate never fully given up on a season, but part of me feels like Tomlin is being a bit selfish here wanting to coach Rodgers, but there were a ton in media and alot of fans saying that keeping Ben that final season was setting our franchise back by not trying to find the next QB, how is this any different?
We'd have been better off just starting Howard and see if there's anything there.
Now we are just good enough to sneak in playoffs, but no shot vs the good teams.

Like I've said a thousand times already, as long as Tomlin is here, it's going to be ground hogs day around here, so no real reason to even get excited anymore.

Nobody in their right mind could build a remotely sane case that Rudolph is the superior passer, I don't care if Rodgers is 50
Save the money, he's playing basically for free, Signing Rodgers has zero effect on the rookie QB market. It is what it is.
If Rodgers plays well sign him again.

Guy is a multiple MVP winner, superbowl champion and will go down as one of the greatest to ever do it.
I understand you didn't like the fact that he wouldn't play sheep for the media. In hindsight he was accurate, thats why the media and people like you can't stand him.
Its a free country he can say what he wants, and you are free to take you're 9th booster.

Are you suggesting, conversely, it can be argued that Rudolph is better than Rodgers? C'mon, man. Surely you jest.

After a night of beer and chicken wings, I might go #2 #10 times.
George Carlin never banged a 10, but one night, he banged five 2's. That has to count for something.

You are gonna complain about him throwing it too much? If his stats are good whats the issue?
Who would you rather have? Rudolph? Pickett? Fields?
You stated you didn't cherry pick stats. I simply compared Harris who everyone complained the reason he got 1000 yards was because of the number of carries. Everyone referred to his 4 yard average.

Rodgers threw a high number of times. His yards per pass was among the lowest of lows last season.

I personally thought it was a good comparison.

Sometimes cherry picking is delicious.😋 🤪

Who is to blame for this lack of commitment? What is the solution, who needs to be replaced to fix it?

Stop whining. It is how it is and none of us can say what the plan is. We also can't change the coach or how it is . Sit back relax , hope they get a legit swing tackle for back up, and hope for another good wr2.
Missing piece of the puzzle...
If we get a .....

"LEGIT" Swing tackle...........SB BOUND!!!!!!!

Wonder who is out there? 🤔

We all know what the plan is, has been and will be.
The same plan as ALWAYS, it ain’t a mystery just the same repeating history

They play to “not lose the games” and most definitely to not lose the season

They will accomplish the standard/goal the same as they always do AND there will be bitching and whining as always no matter how much you ***** about the bitching

There’s only two hopes for the bitching and whining to even pause for a brief moment…Mike’s departure or a Lombardi. Which one are we closer to?

It can be argued, it may be very hard to do it, but you can if you want.

My question for you is this. HYPOTHETICALLY, if Rodgers gets you pick 20 in the 26 Draft, and Rudolph gets you pick 12, going forward what is better for the team?

Keep in mind these things
MANY say that neither is the answer going forward
The Money spent on Rodgers could go to other needs or carried forward to help next years cap

youre saying we dont need one?
Nope. Just that the Swing Tackle back up is the missing piece for our ultimate goal.....

Edit: has to be a "legit" swing tackle of course.

DK of DK sports did a break down by position that I really liked. He asked the question; Does the Steelers have a Superbowl level talent at these specific groups as a whole...

OL - Nope
QB - Yes
RB - Nope
WR - Nope
TE - Nope

DL - Nope
ILB - Nope
OLB - Yes
CB - Nope
Safety - Yes

That is a whole lot of "Nope", and that assessment is obviously based on last year outside of the Aaron Rogers acquirement.

Wonder if Rodgers will ho into the HOF as a Steeler

Add in the coach and it is worse

I don't think Rogers is a Super Level QB anymore, I can't say yes for Minkah when all he does is stand 20 yards downfield, which is on Tomlin, which brings me to the most important thing, do we have a Super Bowl Level Coach, Hell NO!

I seriously disagree with some of that. Quite a few of those nopes should be maybes at worst. CB, ILB and DL could be well on their way to being there on defense. On offense I think RB and TE may well get there and possibly line over the next couple years. They won't all get there but we have made good investments in all of them. TE, ILB and CB may be there this year.
