Report: Aaron Rodgers Is At Steelers Facility On Friday

What leads you to believe that Rodgers would be a mentor?
My question as well. When Rodgers got to Green Bay, Favre was not a mentor to him. When Love got to Green Bay, Rodgers did not mentor him. No reason to believe that he has it in him to be that guy, especially if it's a two year contract and he's afraid to be overtaken.

I am starting to think he isn't signing here. I read he really wants to go to San Francisco. Time will tell, but I think this ship has sailed.

Watson is injured and not expected to play so he is out. I can't picture the Browns leaving Pickett as their most experienced QB so I doubt Flacco will be cut. Gabriel was a 3rd rounder so i would think they would give him at least a year. The Browns don't have much invested in Pickett so if he looks bad he could be out. If Sanders has a poor toxic attitude he could also be the odd man out. If I was the Browns I would set up a mini competition with physical and mental tasks. Show some film or draw some diagrams and ask what they see along with a throwing competition. Worst man is automatically out
That means Kenny is gone... again!!!

Rogers is wacky in the head. You want a young qb to learn from him? He isn't interested in teaching anything to anyone.
He'd be great for giving pointers on drinking ayahuasca tea at home, 'shrooms for better accuracy, postgame recovery with molly, and other good stuff like that.

If the a-aron lowered his intelligence persona and stooped low enough, the rookie could garner some good stuff. My hopes is rogers would be that helping QB hand needed to help them develope, current coaching staff is questionable at best.

NOTHING in Rodgers history shows me he could/would do that.

It's going to be wild to see how CLE handles their QB room this offseason.
Yes it will be. Their pain this year could be great entertainment
How many reps are their rookies going to even get?
Normally almost zero, but it’s Cleveland we are talking about. They could give BOTH Rookies extended reps hoping to see one emerge.
Sanders is the 4th or 5th QB (Watson, Flacco, Pickett, Gabriel, Sanders).
Watson is really #5 and just going to be riding out his contract on IR
Do they just cut one of Flacco or Pickett before the preseason? Even then, it's hard enough to get reps for QB3. QB4 usually doesn't do anything.
In a perfect world Sanders gets cut and nobody signs him. Don’t think that happens though.
There will be at least 2 guys cut or moved to PS there. Maybe someone can pick Sanders off their PS if they try to put him there.
They can protect a few PS players now. Imagine the indignity KP will experience if he is cut .

Maybe they go with Gabriel and Flacco, PS Sanders and cut KP.

I just don't understand how they can start letting players use them like they did with Ayiuk and now with rodgers. Everyone that has eyes can see he is hanging onto hope that JJ will fail with the vikings and he can swoop in and try and be the savior.

They let Ayiuk string them along until the niners gave him what he wanted all the while not addressing the wr position because they waited to long, now we ******** doing the same thing. I HATE that we haven't told his *** to pound sand.

I really hope we just ride the Rudy train until next year.

The goal is 9 wins, I think Rudy can do that.

im not hoping for a tomlinship.. Im hoping for a career manifestation. The accumulated experience of Mason Rudolph, comes together and he leads the team to a division title. thats what im wanting to see. Hell with next years draft.. I think we have a 2 qb's in the room who will or could be great.

We don’t actually know what they told him. Everyone is making all kinds of assumptions.

Let’s hope Howard looks in command in rookie mini-camp and OTAs, enough to give the staff confidence that he can be a reliable backup.
No we need him to be thrust into being a starter ASAP so we know for sure if we need to go hard after a top QB next year. Either we completely tank OR Howard emerges as the franchise QB. Those are the two best scenarios.

I said on another thread in this forum that entertaining signing AR was a big mistake. His leg injury and age.

Now where are we? Still stuck in the AR waiting web.

We can castigate Cleveland all we want about their QB situation but are we any better?

Tell AR to pound sand and retire and go with Rudy.

Howard might need a year or two to improve on some things before he's ready to play, though the Steelers definitely shouldn't wait on a 6th round pick if a better prospect or veteran option becomes available next year.

I think one of the biggest mistakes teams often make with young QBs is assuming they all need to play right away, especially the rookie QBs with flaws in their games. On occasion, having some time to learn and improve from the NFL practice field and sidelines can do a lot of good.

Countless QBs have probably been ruined by being rushed onto the field.

Conversely, who knows if Patrick Mahomes would have become the player he has if he didn't sit and learn for a year? Same with Tom Brady.

Aiyuk seems to be mostly media driven. We pretty much gave him a take it or leave it offer and SF gave him more. We did not get into a bidding war. As far as Rodgers the team seems to be chasing him. Rodgers has made it clear that he was taking his time and he understands if teams move on. This came from Rodgers himself, not the media. Sure the team could have told Rodgers to pound sand, but what would that accomplish? We would still be in the same situation as now. I dont think it would have changed our drafting strategy or who we attempted to sign via FA. We could have had any QB we wanted except Ward. We could have had Dart in round 1 or any other QB we wanted but passed multiple times. The notion the players are holding the steelers hostage is just a media driven false narrative.

I don't think Aiyuk used us.

Sounds like we had a contract in principle.

My understanding is that we didn't want to pay the draft capital that SF wanted.

Kahn puts a price on a guy. And doesn't ever say he's out of a deal. Waits to see if the bottom drops out on the price.

Worked for Fields. Didn't work for Aiyuk.

We'll see for Rodgers...but it looks like his options are play cheap with us or retire. And there's no need for us to pony up more cash when there isn't a buyer. And there's no need yet for him to sign. So they'll play chicken for a bit longer.

And yet, that's when Rudy looked his best, but still not that good.
We have not seen him behind a young improving line or with Smith as OC and two really good deep threats, his specialty. I will reserve my judgment. Rudy may very well be better suited to this offense than Wilson. Fields had the tools but not the head.

I refused his bid for Peyote spoke’s man. He just didn’t have the image I was looking for…………………

He was below the minimum standard needed.!!
